The latest update for Interstellar Rift (e0.2.15.00) is now available on the experimental branch.
We'll treat this one a little bit different than other experimental versions, as it wil go live for everyone pretty soon, instead of the normal 2 week gestation period. Our plan is to release it after the weekend on Monday the 22nd of June.
What's in this new update?
It contains reworks of some existing UI systems for the most part, we overhauled the mission system and with it refreshed the tutorials. You can now find a new mission tab on your GRIP where you can manage your accepted missions.
We've also added a couple of new building blocks, tweaked some of the weapons, and added a new advancement system, among other things.
Please check it out and don't hesitate to let us know if things are not working as you would expect!
For all the changes and bug fixes please see the patch notes linked below.
To enable the experimental branch, right click on Interstellar Rift in Steam, go to the beta tab, and select the "experimental IR beta patches" option
Please note that galaxy files opened in the experimental build, may turn out to be broken when going back to the regular build. It is recommended to start a new save file when trying the experimental build.

Fixed a client crash that occurred when cargo was teleported at the exact moment that the ship was destroyed
Fixed a rare hang on exit

Patch notes for Interstellar Rift 0.2.14.70
IMPORTANT NOTES
This version changes the format of our saves, files in the old format will be upgraded when they are loaded, this can result in a small, one-time, performance hit when an old file is loaded. The first time launch of a (dedicated) server on this version will take a while (It took ~5 minutes on the official PvE server save) as it will need to upgrade some player data of every player that has been on your server, the time this process takes scales by how many players have ever been on your server. Processes should not be killed during this upgrade as this will definitely corrupt your save!
After opening any save in the new version, it is very unlikely that any save (even if it is a different one) will work in a previous version of Interstellar Rift. As such, if you want to be able to switch between 0.2.14.60 and 0.2.14.70 you will have to manually back up and restore your saves.
(Ships uploaded to the workshop in previous versions will continue to work, and ships uploaded to the workshop in 0.2.14.70 will work in previous versions of the game)
PERFORMANCE
Changes to the save file format and saving and loading process aimed at reducing peak memory usage and latency caused by high peak memory usage.
CHANGES
Force Windows 7 to use TLS 1.2 when connecting to HTTPS endpoints (i.e. newsfeed & master server). TLS 1.0 support on the master server will be turned off next week, when this happens Interstellar Rift versions before 0.2.14.70 (on Windows 7) won't be able to connect to the master server anymore.
NOTES
Servers will need to be updated and restarted. No Rebuilds required.
If your preferred server has not updated yet, you can switch to the 'previous' branch until it has updated. If you have launched a game in the new version already your saves will not work on the 'previous' branch!
