  • Fixed some minor bugs in the visual system that could affect rendering performance.

The definitive patch for Invisible Wings: Chapter One is available now!

Audune Games is very excited to announce the release of the definitive patch of Invisible Wings! Head over to the Steam store page or the Itch.io download page to download the patch and enjoy the first chapter of the story of Invisible Wings with a lot of new music!

As I've been looking forward to releasing this patch since I've started working on this project during my graduation as a composer and technical audio desginer, which has been over three years already, I'm glad the definitive release of Invisible Wings turned out as I envisioned and I hope you will enjoy this final version of the visual novel as much as I enjoyed creating it! Furthermore I would like to thank all people who helped me making this project a reality, especially Maricu Mana for her beautiful art, Eva van der Meer for her excellent writing skills, and the voice actors who gave life to the characters in the game!

As usual, you're very welcome to join Mae's Place, our cozy Discord server, to talk about the update, Invisible Wings in general or anything else, or follow Audune Games on Twitter to stay up to date about future announcements!

The first chapter

As you might have noticed, the name of the visual novel has been rebranded to Invisible Wings: Chapter One. This signifies that the visual novel only contains the first part of the story I intend to tell eventually in a bigger game of a different genre. This game only acts as a proof-of-concept and demo for the story, which will hopefully be made more clear by adding a subtitle for potential new players. I would like to thank the reviewers on Steam for pointing this out and I hope that the name change will make it more clear what to expect from this game!

Updated features

First and foremost, patch 1.3 of Invisible Wings: Chapter One features a lot of new background music! This is something I always envisioned during the development of the visual novel, but due to perfectionism and personal reasons it eventually took two years to make this a reality. However, I'm more than happy with the result and I hope the music will give a playthrough of the game an even more immersive experience!

Second most inportant is the ability to save your progress in the visual novel! The initial intention of the game was to be played in one session, but due to feedback from Steam reviewers the game now automatically saves your progress whenever you enter a new scene in the story, giving you the ability to continue where you left off another time. I hope this will accomodate the players who prefer reading through the visual novel in multiple sessions!

Now on to the small surprise I mentioned earlier: from now on the visual novel can also be read with French and Spanish subtitles! Many thanks to Cassandra Plagelat and Eric Montiel López for their work on translating the game into those languages!

With the release of the new music, the soundtrack for Invisible Wings: Chapter One has finally been released as well! The soundtrack features 24 minutes of music which can be heard in the visual novel and is currently available to buy on Steam and Bandcamp, while a release on major streaming platforms, including Spotify and Deezer, will follow later this month.

Patch notes

Content updates:

  • There is new background music to most of the scenes, and the music for the main menu and Dawn's skating scene has been revised.
  • The game now saves your progress when you enter a new scene, so you can continue playing from that scene or start a new game when you restart the game.
  • Added French and Spanish translations made by Cassandra Plagelat (French) and Eric Montiel López (Spanish).
  • Made minor tweaks to some user interface elements, both for accessibility and aesthetics.

Technical updates:

  • Updated Unity version to 2021.3 and FMOD to 2.02.09.
  • Implemented a new custom audio system that uses a higher level FMOD wrapper, and fixed some related automatic reading bugs.
  • Fixed a bug that appeared with the update regarding controlling the cursor with the gamepad. The game now uses a virtual mouse with a software cursor instead of controlling the hardware cursor directly.
  • Fixed a bug regarding screen resolutions not appearing or being wrong.

Release date for the definitive patch will be January 15, 2023

Hello lovely fairies,

Brace yourselves and take out your calendars, because the definitive patch of Invisible Wings will be released on January 15, 2023! This release date is a bit later than initially anticipated (at the end of 2022), which has the simple reason of having a deadline for another amazing project I'm working on in December and allowing myself to avoid crunch time for two projects. I hope that despite all the delays you're still looking forward to get your hands on this improved version of the game!

The biggest update in patch 1.3 will be the addition and revision of background music in the scenes. This was already planned for the initial release, but various reasons made it hard to incorporate the total vision I had for the visual novel in the first release. But that's not all! Based on feedback provided in the Steam reviews, there will be two other major improvements in the patch:

  • Invisible Wings will be rebranded with an added subtitle, signifying that this visual novel only contains the first part of the story I intend to tell eventually. The game only acts as a proof-of-concept and demo for the story, which will hopefully be made more clear by adding a subtitle for potential new readers. The description on the game pages and other texts will be updated accordingly to reflect this change.
  • The updated game will remember your progress in the story! Since the short playthrough time and the initial nature of the visual novel, it wasn't possible to save progress along your journey, but taking into account the received feedback the game will automatically save your progress when you enter a new scene, giving you the ability to continue where you left off another time.

Patch 1.3 will also include some minor tweaks and a small surprise, so tune in on January 15, 2023 to experience the definitive version of Invisible Wings! As always, you can hop by at Mae's Place, our cozy Discord server, or follow Audune Games on Twitter to stay up to date about our development process and announcements!

Definitive patch will be released in Q4 2022

Hello lovely fairies,

Just wanted to let you know that progress on the definitive patch of the Invisible Wings demo is being made, and it's expected to be released in Q4 of 2022, along with the complete soundtrack. I've also decided to add a nice subtitle to the demo version when it's updated, in order to not confuse people expecting a full version and then go complaining in the Steam reviews. Stay tuned for more updates!

From today on I have also temporarily removed Audune's Patreon and Ko-Fi pages. The reason for this is that the pre-production of Invisible Wings is put on hold for now, until I have more resources available to make it the game it deserves to be. In the future I will look into crowdfunding again, when there is stuff that's further in the development process to share that might be fund-worthy. I want to thank everyone for the mental support so far though, even little things like compliments are really appreciated!

You can still come over to Mae's Place, our cozy Discord server, to talk about anything, or follow Audune Games on Twitter to stay up to date!

Patch 1.2 released with support for fan translations

Today the second patch of Invisible Wings has been released, which adds support for fan translations to the game!

Patch notes

  • Fixed some minor translation mistakes in the Dutch localization.
  • Updated the localization system to read locale files from a folder instead of a decicated settings file. Removed support for this settings file and migrated the settings to the Unity editor.

Create your own translations

This patchs adds the option to add your own fan translation to the game! We have set up a GitHub repository to guide you through the process, which comes down to creating your own YAML file with the translation and adding it to the game installation directory.

A throwback is that there is currently only support for the Latin font used in the game, but if needed, we can add CJK font support as well in the future.

Patch 1.1 released

Today the first patch of Invisible Wings has been released!

Patch notes

  • Simplified the handling of screen resolutions by leaving out the refresh rate of the monitor. This hopefully fixes a bug that the correct resolution isn't selected when the option menu is opened.
  • Updated FMOD version to 2.2.0, which includes the option to store the audio banks in a subfolder of Unity StreamingAssets.

Invisible Wings is available now!

Audune Games is thrilled to announce that Invisible Wings is now available to play for free! Head over to the Steam store page or the Itch.io download page to claim your copy and start playing!

Join the release hype at Mae's Place, the most awesome diner in Ceylynn! In our public Discord server you can talk about the game, ask for support, tell us if you found the easter egg in the game, or have a chit chat about anything else. See you there!

Definitive patch and soundtrack

As some of you will already know, writing music for such a personal passion project as Invisible Wings is hard, and so not all scenes are filled with the music that they deserve. Therefore we will release a definitive patch of Invisible Wings probably this fall, with even more magical music!

With this patch the original soundtrack of Invisible Wings will become available too for you to buy on Steam and Itch.io, as well as releases on major streaming platforms like Spotify and Deezer. Follow us on our social media accounts linked below to stay updated on this definitive patch!

The next steps

This release of Inivible Wings is only a demo and proof of concept for what we envisioned as the final game, which provides a vertical slice of the story in the form of an interactive visual novel. This demo so far only contains only 5-10% of the story and worldbuilding we have in mind for the final game, so there's way more to expect.

As the next step, we want to make a narrative adventure game, featuring Dawn's whole story, modeled in beautiful 3D environments full of things to explore, akin to Dreamfall and Life Is Strange. With your support you can help us making the full game a reality!

You can support us for as low as €1 a month via Patreon, while donating €5 or more gives you access to the Patron Lounge on Discord too. If you are not fond of monthly subscriptions, you can also donate a small amount on our Ko-fi page. Every little thing helps us tremendously, even if it's as small as a nice review or comment on how your experience with the game was. Thank you!
