Wow, what a night! First off, we want to thank everyone of you who participated in our first hours of Early Access – Backers, Streamers and Necromancy Fans alike – You rock!
Balancing Patch and Updates
As we hoped, you already started writing down valuable feedback here in the steam forums or in our Discord Server – and we can see a trend:
Even though you seem to generally enjoy being one of the bad guys, a good portion of you feels like we were a bit too hardcore with our starting difficulty levels and saw themselves in rather unfortunate situations. We hear you!
Iratus: Lord of the Dead is a rogue-like RPG, which in its genre thrives from its cruelty and perma-death of your minions - but we surely don't want to generate real frustration.
This is why we are releasing our first Balancing Patch today - right now! We will continue with a reactive cycle of two weeks, so that you have enough time to check out the changes and give new feedback. You can find today’s patch notes at the bottom of this community post.
In general, we will have three different forms of updates that we are implementing during Early Access:
Balance Updates: Every two weeks on Thursday, using the collected data and your feedback from the Steam forums and Discord Server. (Join here)
Patches/Fixes: Focus on bugfixing and published regularly throughout Early Access
Mayor Updates: Provide the content and improvements displayed on our Early Access roadmap
We hope that you will enjoy our changes in the days and weeks to come and continue bringing up great conversations about how we can make Iratus: Lord of the Dead even better in the future.
Talking about the future: We placed our Early Access roadmap in a more prominent spot, directly on the Steam store page – in case you missed it, you can find the next steps we are taking on the path to Full Release here as well.

Iratus: Lord of the Dead arrives on Steam Early Access this July
Dominate your enemies and turn their corpses into monsters you control in this challenging new roguelike from Unfrozen.
We are excited to announce that our delightfully evil roguelike RPG Iratus: Lord of the Dead will launch into Steam Early Access for Windows PC on 24th July. Inverting the classic fantasy RPG tale, Iratus: Lord of the Dead casts players as the newly resurrected necromancer Iratus on a bloody quest for vengeance against those who imprisoned him in his underground tomb.
Wielding an array of occult powers that would make the most talented conjurers recoil in terror, Iratus can use the blood, guts, bones and souls of vanquished enemies to create monstrous pawns to serve as his own personal army. With four different skill trees to master (Alchemy, Magic, Ire and Destruction) and nearly 100 different minion skills to unlock, players will have plenty of options to defeat their foes in turn-based combat and the giant dungeon overworld.
With permadeath affecting not only minions but enemies as well, Iratus: Lord of the Dead challenges your strategic prowess on all fronts. Body parts and essence are a finite resource in the overworld, so you’ll need to think carefully about what you conjure and how it’ll help you exact revenge.

The Necromancer and the City! Iratus: Lord of the Dead was recently showed off at E3 2019 in Los Angeles
66 thousand visitors, over a million online watchers and hundreds of companies participated in the biggest video game expo in the world – E3 2019. And among the leaders in game development, there to show off their offering was the German company Deadalic Entertainment. Among their games was one developed by the Russian studio Unfrozen. The tactical roguelike-RPG - Iratus: Lord of the Dead.
During the press release, our Editor-in-Chief (Feodor Korochkin) and Lead Writer (Alexander Gonchar) demoed the game to dozens of journalists and streamers from the US, Russia, China, Italy, Germany and other countries. The version we sent to E3 included a fully finished first floor, 16 minions and all the gameplay mechanics; everything that our players will be able to enjoy once we hit early access!
The media representatives that saw the game have all praised it for its tactical and strategic variety, which is achieved by the massive variety of minions and possible battle groups, the ability to choose an upgrade for each minion ability, the potential synergies between unit abilities and Iratus talents, artifacts, buildings and various parts. After all, who can resist the dark necromantic temptations of turning you enemies into your allies…?
We have already received the first publications about the game in various outlets. So stay tuned! There will no doubt be updates about Iratus: Lord of the Dead in games news and in social networks in the coming days.
By the way, we are soon approaching Early Access. We still want to keep the exact date a secret but we can tell you that this summer you will be able to explore three floors, filled with various enemies and personally craft your own ideal undead army!
As for us, we will continue.
We will be in touch,
Team Unfrozen
Road to E3: New Mechanics and Zombie Rework
Greetings Everybody!
From June 11 to 13, set in Los Angeles Convention Center, the biggest videogame event of the year will take place – E3 2019. And among the many new games that will be shown off at that exhibition, look forward to seeing Iratus: Lord of the Dead in conjunction with Daedelic Entertainment!
It has been a long development cycle and the version of the game that we will be showing off in Los Angeles is quite different from what gamers and journalists were allowed to see at PAX East this spring. In the near future we will begin beta testing, which means that it is time to share with you the most massive update to the game in the last few months.
Iratus is primed and ready for E3:
1. Zombie Rework!
The Zombie and his cannon Boom have been given a brand new look. The visuals and animations were completely reimagined. Beyond that, more than half of his abilities were remade. Iratus’s enemies are in for a very big Boom very soon.
2. Updated the interface and expanded the player’s tactical arsenal!
Iratus continues to remember the intricacies of the dark arts. All minions have been given Ultimate abilities that require Wrath. The Necromancer now uses his Mana to use talents from the tress of Magic, Destruction and Ire.
3. New Mechanics!
Added variety to the tactical and strategic layers is provided by the inclusion of several new mechanics:
Evasion! This new character stat shows how likely a minion or enemy is to evade an attack. At 100%, a character will evade all attacks that can be evaded.
Resistance! Resistance decreases the magical damage a character receives by the listed number, similar to how Armor works for physical attacks.
To help new players learn the ins and outs of Iratus: Lord of the Dead we have also included a Tutorial, which will already be available in the E3 version of the game.
We will be announcing the start of beta testing very shortly. And, of course, we are anticipating the launch of the game into early access this summer.
See you all at E3!

Wishlist Iratus: Lord of the Dead today to be the first one to be informed about further announcements:
We're happy to announce the cooperation between Unfrozen and Daedalic Entertainment!
Daedalic Entertainment publishes and develops computer and video games for all platforms. The studio focuses on interactive literature and character- and narrative-driven games like adventures and RPGs.
Together, we will launch Iratus: Lord of the Dead to Steam Early Access in summer 2019.
To kick off our cooperation, we got a brand new Teaser Trailer for you. Watch the new Teaser Trailer here:

Wishlist Iratus: Lord of the Dead today to be the first one to be informed about further announcements:
In October last year, we indicated that we were aiming for a February Early Access Launch. Unfortunately, we have had to revise this to May this year.
We would like to apologize for any inconvenience that has been caused because we know that many of you have been looking forward to this release. There are many ideas that we want to implement in the game to make it interesting, but we underestimated the amount of work it would take. This forces us to reschedule the Early Access on Steam once again.
Although we hope to have everything polished to this moment, we certainly feel much more comfortable by choosing late spring as a target Early Access Launch window. Iratus: Lord of the Dead is our first project and we’re putting all our efforts into it to make it better, but as it turns out, time planning is still not our strong suit.
Furthermore, we began cooperating with a reliable partner which we will introduce to you in the nearest future. We also want to add that we are receiving valuable support and assistance which will help us to meet our goals and prepare for Early Access Launch on Steam.
Nevertheless, development is making a lot of progress and we are not going to slow down. We continue to actively work on creating new content and implementing new features. For instance, here are our new backgrounds as well as the brand new minion and enemy:
Fallen Dhampir
The Fallen Dhampir feels the burden of her curse far stronger than other minions. Having submitted herself to her vampiric nature only served to put into perspective all the things that she has lost, even though her murderous strength has not waned a bit. Her only escape from the shame and guilt of her submissions lie in brief bouts of bloody euphoria she experiences as she drains your enemies dry. She has a whole eternity ahead of her to get used to it.
Dhampir
As bloody and dangerous as vampires are they still see some allure among mortal kind. Sometimes this leads to cults forming around the worshiping these bloodsuckers, a fact that they are all too willing to promote. But if normal vampires might occasionally see some popularity, the Dhampir is a full-blown celebrity! While having all the perks of a vampire with none of the downsides make her into a brooding hero that bards can swoon over, she herself has a rather easy and boring unlife marked with the occasional bouts of undead-slaying. There is also the slight issue that she is not truly immortal and will eventually die unless she fully embraces her vampire half. And while she has decided to oppose you, you wonder if she could make for a powerful ally if pushed to the brink of mortality.
To all of our backers and supporters, once again we are very sorry that we're asking for a little more time than initially planned. We cannot thank you enough for your enduring support. We promise to use the time to improve the quality of Iratus: Lord of the Dead.
Please stay tuned and we will announce big news soon.
Sincerely,
Unfrozen Team
