Early Access 1.6.0.0 Engine Room Update

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zKTkLUX-_Uk&feature=youtu.be

Hey guys, we’re excited to be releasing our first development pass of the engine room.

The engine room adds optional resource management gameplay for larger teams to enjoy and some cool machinery to interact with.

When the engine assist is turned off, the available battery power and compressed air is limited so that you’ll need to manage these resources carefully throughout a mission. On the surface, you can use the diesel generators to recharge the battery and use the compressor to replenish your compressed air. A snorkel has been added so that the diesel generators can pull in fresh air when you’re at periscope depth.

We’ve also added a cosy sleeping quarters which is visible from the periscope room.

Early Access 1.5.1.2: Minor Update

Hi Guys, this is a small update to improve the torpedo targeting display and fix some bugs with the AI.

Change log:

  • Targetting:

    • Improved targeting reticle to allow for better visualization of fine correction adjustments.
    • Added representation of target orientation at centre of torpedo target display.
    • Added arrow showing origin direction of torpedoes heading towards the target.
    • Fix target heading dial on torpedo data computer.
    • Balance changes to torpedo drift for evaded torpedoes.
    • Torpedoes can no longer make a second pass at a target.

  • AI Improvements:

    • Improved enemy AI detection and reaction to player torpedoes.
    • Fixed enemy AI bug where submarine could be determined to be incorrectly out of range.
    • The destroyer will now patrol the area in the Duel mission rather than starting as a stationary target.
    • All military only convoys will patrol the area rather than head in a single direction.
    • Once military ships engage the submarine, merchant ships will continue to travel until they are outside of the submarine’s attack range and then wait for the return of the defending military ships.

  • Other:

    • Fixed issue where submerged blur effect could persist between levels.
    • Minor performance improvements.

Early Access 1.5.0.3: Inventory, Oxygen Supply and Torpedo Targeting Update in Main Game Now

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2T6ktIpLLJU&feature=youtu.be

Hi everyone,

We’ve moved the Inventory and Oxygen supply changes from beta into the main game now. This adds our new inventory system and an oxygen supply item so players can use the pumps for longer periods of time. The welder can also be stored in inventory slot. We’ve also added guidance controls for torpedos so players can improve their chance of hitting enemies.

We’ve also added a death sequence when you run out of oxygen either in the submarine or while wearing an empty oxygen supply item.

Changelog:

  • Replaced straight running torpedoes with radio guided torpedoes.
  • Revamped Torpedo Data Computer (TDC) to include axis controls for live torpedo heading.
  • Added re-calculating sound effect when using the axis controls.
  • Added Empty, Reloading and Ready status displays for torpedo tubes on TDC.
  • Added locked target Heading, Distance and Speed to TDC display.
  • Added two inventory slots on player avatar.
  • Added per player limited 60 second oxygen supply item
  • Added death by asphyxiation when you run out of oxygen supply.
  • Fixed an issue where the camera shake wouldn’t trigger when taking damage.

Early Access 1.4.0.6: Damage Control Update Out of Beta

https://youtu.be/Zva7HmgbZTY

Thanks you to everyone who tested and gave us feedback on the new damage control and graphics in the beta branch. We’ve now put these features into the main game so they are available to all players.

To fix leaks, pick up the welder which is located on the control room door. Use the trigger to activate the welder and hold it near to the source of the leak. If you see sparks, you are fixing the leak, continue welding until the leak stops. Water can be removed by using the bilge pump. In multi-player, someone can use the bilge pump to buy more time for the person using the welder. We’ve balanced single-player so that it is not necessary to pump and weld at the same time.

We've also fixed an issue where random missions could de-sync.

Early Access 1.4.0.4: Beta Minor Update

Change log:

  • Re-balanced the pump effectiveness and maximum leak water flow.
  • Added on by default pump assist setting for single and multi player.
  • Added prototype damage control tutorial.
  • Added prototype torpedo room tutorial.
  • Tuned torpedo ballast fill sound.
  • Fixed hedgehog firing procedure on Battleship.
  • Fixed damage effects for mines and collisions.

Early Access 1.4.0.2: Beta Minor Update

We’d like to thank everyone for testing the damage control systems. Based on feedback that the community has given we have the made the following alterations:

Change log:

  • Fixed issue where game over menu was not visible
  • Rebalanced jet spawning
  • Rebalanced pump effectiveness
  • Added automatic pump for single player
  • Added haptic feedback to welder and pump
  • Fixed not being able to manually use the alarms
  • Rebalanced battleship hedgehog reload rate
  • Fixed visibility of sonar pings in red light
  • Fixed erratic ballast flow gauge
  • Fixed incorrect sound location for bilge pumps
  • Fixed sparks continuing after submarine repaired

Early Access 1.4.0.0: Damage Control Update in Beta

https://youtu.be/Zva7HmgbZTY

We’ve just completed our first development cycle of the damage control mechanic and this is now available in a public beta branch that can be selected from the Beta settings in Steam. We will be adding a tutorial for this damage control before we release it to the main branch.

Change log:

  • Water leaks no longer fix themselves.
  • Added small and large leaks that fill the submarine at different rates.
  • Added a welder to fix water leaks.
  • Water no longer drains out of the submarine by itself.
  • Added manual bilge pumps to remove water from inside the submarine.
  • Improved visibility through internal water with custom refractive shader so that bilge pumps can be located when the submarine is flooded.
  • Individual players can now drown on their own in the submarine, once you are dead, you can no longer control the submarine. The game ends when all players are dead.
  • Implemented custom graphics pipeline:

    • Reduced CPU load
    • Multiple optimized GGX pixel lights.
    • Single pass

  • Replaced internal doors so that we can utilise this space for additional items and instruments.
  • Multiple Texture improvements.
  • Networking Optimizations.
  • General bug fixes.
  • Replaced Menu music with ambient sounds.
  • Updated Ironwolf VR logo.

Progress Update: New Graphics Pipeline

Following on from community feedback regarding the need for optimization we’ve spent some time re-writing the graphics pipeline for IronWolf VR from the ground up. We’ve seen significant improvements in performance, while improving lighting and overall graphics quality. We’re just putting the final touches on this and we’ll soon be releasing this and new damage control systems into a beta branch for the community to test as there have been a lot of changes under the hood in this update.

Welder Preview, work in progress.

Hey guys,

This is just a quick preview of how use the welder to fix leaks in the submarine. We're currently busy working on balancing the damage control for single and multi player.
