Early Access - Patch 1.4

Hello everyone,

We’ve rolled out a small but significant patch that should cross off most of the remaining high-priority bugs on our list. I’m sure a lot of you will be happy to hear that we’ve finally patched up the infamous “P90 reload bug” which actually wasn’t such an easy fix as we uncovered a few other issues with ammo and reload handling along the way. After going through several iterations, the system is now far more reliable. In addition to that fix, the issue concerning jump pad audio and the inability to hear other players using them has been resolved. This fix ended up being a bit more involved than we thought, so patching this one up is a great relief.

We’ve also made some welcome adjustments to plasma stage and prequeue times. While it’s never a good thing when lobbies don’t fill up completely, this has given us the chance to make some improvements that specifically affect games with small lobby sizes. We’ve made a number of tweaks to the prequeue which should result in matches starting faster and requiring fewer players. These are just quick fixes ahead of more significant prequeue improvements that are in the works. We’ve also tweaked the dynamic circle system to move much faster when few players are alive, especially when a match starts with a small number of players already.

Finally, now that we’ve patched up some of the more critical bugs on our list, we can shift more of our focus towards the substantial improvements and juicier features on our roadmap. We’re busy putting the finishing touches on our design specs for them and will be rolling out a dev blog going over some of them in more detail in the next few days.

Stay tuned!

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed gamesparks error showing for new players without a loadout

  • Fixed jump pad 3p audio! YAY!

  • Fixed reload bug.

  • Fixed being able to trade after getting downed. (Still rare chance it could happen if using a pistol).

  • Fixed not being able to bind the DELETE key.

Level Design

  • Fixed fort misplaced building

Early Access Patch notes - 1.3

Hey everyone!

We’ve rolled out another batch of fixes that should address some of those fun edge-case bugs such as your character getting stuck or involuntarily turning into a suicide bomber when swapping from a primed nade. We’ve also added in some QOL improvements such as making the console key (~) toggleable and keeping your mouse locked to the game window when in window or borderless mode (this one was annoying, we know). Voip is back and I should also mention that we’ll be rolling out another small patch sometime soon which fixes the p90 reload ammo bug and disables kill trading.

Having said that, after the incredible amount of pressure and time constraints this team has been under for the last few months prepping for EA (welcome to game development!) we are finally able to take a step back, re-assess how we can improve studio operations from a macro-level, and most importantly, address some of the core gameplay issues we’ve been tracking based on your feedback and our own experiences. We have a direction, we have tangible goals, and we will be working hard on reaching them. Please know that these things don’t just take a couple of weeks to fix and your patience will be required here. I’ll be posting more about these issues in addition to a roadmap of sorts in the coming days. Just know that we’re incredibly excited about what’s to come!

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed several collision issues around the map that would get players stuck

  • Fixed a bug where people could use a jumppad to get on top of the ancient forest trees and sit on them

  • Fixed unequipped primed grenades blowing up in your face

  • Fixed not being able to jump though a few windows in Mansion

  • Fixed attachments dropping when picking up an attachable one in the event that all attachment slots are full

  • Fixed double key binding for squad voip default ‘Y’ key

  • Fixed right click ‘spectate next player’ action not working

Level Design

  • Added more loot spawns to Monument, Crater, Colloseum, Hill Ruins, and Garden locations

  • Expanded the Garden location

Gameplay & Misc

  • Re-enabled VOIP (!) (NOTICE: any racism or abusive language will result in a ban)

  • Tweaked rank thresholds for a more even spread

  • Added new items M9a1 | Nebula Meltdown and M1014 | Biohazard to the item store, replacing the expired ones

  • Greatly improved server performance right when players land at start of match. (occasionally players wouldn’t be able to pick up items for 10-30 seconds)

  • Added more final safe zone possibilities

  • Added a setting to enable/disable the console key (default ~ key)

  • In-game interfaces now keep the mouse locked to the game window

  • Added Indoor sound volumes to Rome buildings

  • Added “Gamesparks unable to connect” message

  • Reduced announcer and drop-in music volume

Early Access Patch Notes - Hotfix 1.2

Hi everyone,

Our 2nd hotfix is in! With Islands of Nyne having been out on Early Access for a little more than a week we’re trying our hardest to address any bugs, big or small, that are impacting your gameplay experience. Our PR team, volunteer testers, QA team, and us Devs are in the trenches pulling as much feedback and player reports as possible and addressing them as quick as we humanly can. For the most part, this patch should stitch up some of the more obvious issues that we’ve seen around the Dome. There are still some rare edge case bugs out there that we’re currently investigating, but rest assured we’ll be killing those off soon enough. In addition to balance tweaks, optimizations, and bug fixes, we’ll also be rolling out more content over the next few weeks. With that in mind, we’ll be working on getting an experimental test server up and running that allows anyone to jump in and offer feedback on any new features or changes that are currently in a WIP state. I for one am definitely excited to get that going.

Many of you have also been asking when we’ll start to support and grow ION’s competitive scene. The potential is IMMENSE and we know it! It’s what we’ve been shaping this game around since day 1. However, before we get our private servers and 3rd party matchmaking setup we want to first make sure the game is completely stable and devoid of any hiccups or exploits that could heavily impact competitive play. We don’t have a timetable on when that will be, but we will be closely monitoring gameplay and exploit/bug reports to gauge when ION is in an acceptable state for competitive play. Please also be aware that we’re still investigating an issue where servers can hang for a short period of time directly after dropping in. It’s at the top of our list!

Bug Fixes

  • Fixed helmet not providing HUD enhancements

  • Fixed not being able to sprint after switching weapons when using toggle aim

  • Fixed disconnect while spamming slow blood loss when being revived

  • Fixed downed (but not out) players not counting as kills on victory

  • Fixed knife material issues on Cauterize skin

  • Fixed equipped skins still equipped on character in-game even after they've been sold or scrapped

  • Added refresh button to item inventory

Exploit Fixes

  • Fixed exploit where a user could cancel the drop in animation

  • Fixed exploit where a user could cancel long fall animation

  • Fixed a possible exploit with the ranking system

Economy

  • Added incremental crate pricing with a weekly limit to prevent market saturation of items and to increase their value.

Balance

  • Tweaked safezone deltas to reduce situations in which it becomes hard to outrun the plasma field

Early Access Patch Notes - Hotfix 1.1

UPDATE #2: The patch is now live and has been renamed to Hotfix 1.1. Performance has not only been stabilized but improved after finding and patching an issue with the inventory player model that was causing a persistent drop in framerate after being opened the first time in a match. It has since been removed from the in-game inventory for the time being. Additional changes we've made are:

  • Removed framerate cap from Main Menu

_______________________________________________________________________________

UPDATE: We have reverted back to 1.0.9556 (previous version) due to reports of unstable performance. We are investigating and will update to 1.0.9685 once we believe any performance issues have been resolved.
_______________________________________________________________________________

Hey everyone,

With the release of Islands of Nyne finally out on Steam Early Access we’ve been trying our best to address any major and minor hiccups reported by our amazing community. It’s been quite a roller-coaster of emotions for the team, our spirits are high and we’re absolutely loving the content you guys have been putting out so far in addition to the general reception of the game by the public. Playercount is healthy and stable, our matchmaker issues should be smoothed over and you should be getting into full games immediately. Battleye has been doing some great work for us as well, always-vigilant, and unrelenting when it comes to cheaters (and this patch should address a lot of the modified ini. file hacks we’ve been seeing). The future is looking bright for The Dome and we’ve got plenty more in store for you over the coming weeks. We’re not going anywhere. You guys have always been and will always be the fuel behind the game, and we’re extremely excited to continue to evolve ION into something we can all continue be proud to stand behind and support. With that said, lets get into these patchnotes shall we?

General

  • Fixed game launching into borderless mode when displaying Fullscreen in settings

  • Locked out ini settings that were being exploited

  • Fixed squad members receiving 0 placement score if they died before the squad is out of the game

  • Enforced min engine settings to prevent exploits like shooting through buildings

  • Added a Vsync option in settings

  • Set max framerate in main menu to 60 to take some load off GPU while idling

  • Escape now closes the inventory when inventory is toggled

  • Waiting times for full lobbies in prequeue are reduced

  • Nano meds will now always be consumed [bug]

  • Drones have smaller collision boxes to avoid creating an invisible wall when shot down

  • Damage points are now aligned with actual amount of damage dealt. In exchange, points for kills have been lowered a bit

  • Fixed getting stuck in Ancient Forest Trees when crouching up against them

  • Fixed swimming under the map in places

  • Fixed hole in Beam you could fall through

Matchmaking

  • Fixed a bug where it was possible for a server to become a different gamemode (solo to duos, duos to squads, etc.)

  • Fixed an issue where a leader leaving their party behind would cause the party to get thrown into an incorrect server when queuing up

  • Fixed an issue where if you didn’t immediately find a game there was a chance your party would get thrown into a solo server regardless of party size

Skins and Steam Marketplace

  • Set Alpha Invitational Skin to non Marketable and non Tradeable

  • Set Caramel Camo to Marketable

  • Set Petal Predator to Marketable

  • Corrected Nebula Meltdown Icon Graphic from Abducted to Limited
