Isle of Pan

April '24 Audio Patch

Just a small update to tune the environmental sound on the island. Less buzzing insects. Some more birds. And player footsteps are softer.

March 2024 Update

I think this might be the last update as I move on to new projects.

Patch notes:

Table of Contents now displays how many creatures you have photographed at each portal visited.
As well as the total amount of creatures inside the portal to help you track down missing creatures.

Localization for 10 languages. German, French, Spanish, Portuguese, Chinese, Korean, Japanese, Arabic, Norwegian, and Scottish Gaelic.
I used a web service so these translations are probably full of errors, so it is not officially noted on the store page. I just wanted to have something in case someone really wants to play and the language is a barrier to them.

The mountaintop will now unlock at 15 portals found rather than 17.

Dragon will not repeat dialog if you have acquired the Underworld portal token

Crown token is automatically registered after getting to the top of the mountain

The Photo Gallery remembers the last gallery type you viewed and should load faster. It is reset to current roll after going through a portal.

Fixed some Remapping bugs. And the tutorial now displays the right key if changed before starting the game. (Desktop)

[R] is now the default key to open the book on desktop (Desktop)

You can open the menu if the book is spawned. It will close the book then open the menu. (Desktop)

Default walking speed is slower (Desktop)

Tweaked sound mix and game should be a little less loud.

The VR camera now has an image to indicate the flash button.

Other smaller bug fixes and enhancements.

Nominate Isle of Pan

When I set out making Isle of Pan I wanted to create something that was unique to VR and took advantage of its power to create experiences you can't have otherwise. I made this game because this was the game that I wanted to play; a surreal and chilled out VR exploration game, that merged my love of photography and strange creatures. I'm thrilled that this idea resonated with others. If you'd like to see more weirdness in VR, consider nominating Isle of Pan for the VR category in the Steam Awards. Thank you for playing!

PANdemonium Update

  • 4 New Portals to explore plus a slideshow gallery portal to watch your favorite photos.

  • New creatures upping the total in the game to 127.

You can find the new portals near the gnome village, in the middle of the Lake, at the ruins near the mountain stairs, and from the crown dropped by the Man on the Mountain. Visit the guide if you need help tracking down the new creatures.

This will be the last major update to the game as I look ahead to new projects. I'm honored to have so many people play and enjoy this weird little game I made. Thank you for your support!

Update 1.015

- Fixed export photo bugs for both VR and Flatscreen. Will no longer be locked out if selecting export folder location while in windowed mode

Update 1.014

Sorry about the double patches this week, but I wanted to implement some changes that were bothering flatscreen players.

-Windowed Mode now works. VR players can switch to windowed mode by switching to flatscreen then selecting windowed mode and switching back to VR.

-Stopping after running is now quicker for flatscreen players. Not as much sliding.

-Hold down shift to Sprint for flatscreen keyboard and mouse players (Controller is still press once)

-Subtitles is now enabled as the default for new games on Flatscreen.

-Escape now opens menu as well as closing it for Flatscreen. And is a shortcut to quit for VR players. Tab key still works for the menu and can be remapped.

Update 1.013

Added HP Reverb 2 Support. (thanks Joeyhodge!)

Fixed problem with Sheep Dream Token not registering achievement progress

Fixed problem with Fractal Room Token not registering achievement progress

Fixed Funguy subtitles to accurately reflect the spoken dialog.

Fixed WiseTree subtitles to accurately reflect the spoken dialog.

Fixed Cloud god subtitles to accurately reflect the spoken dialog.

Fixed Faerie King subtitles to accurately reflect the spoken dialog.

Now that the craziness of launch week is over, and I'm back to my day job, updates will slow down for a bit. I've really appreciated the positive response to the game so far. It means everything to me that it has resonated with so many people. I have every intention to create more content for Isle of Pan; some more creatures, maybe a portal or two. So keep an eye out for that this Spring. I just need some rest first.

Keep sharing those photos with #IsleofPan.

Update 1.012

-Improved force grab for VR players:
The default is now A button to bring up the laser beam. And Trigger to select. This is more inline with other VR games.
If you liked the previous way, you can toggle the option under the settings menu with height adjustment. Its at the bottom of the page. And you can change it by left or right hand

-VR sprinting is now click rather than holding down the thumbstick

-Fixed teleporting while using force grab with Vive wands

-Added the rest of the musicians to the credits

-Mountain spiral was made smaller to avoid clipping

-Lochie not appearing is hopefully fixed, please let me know if you still have problems.

From now on, updates will only be once a week at most. Thank you for your patience with the updates this week and keep posting those photos!
