Turkey Update Is Live! Soundtrack, Tyre Repair Kits, Licence Plates, Key Rebinding
Hello everyone, today marks the release of the Turkey update which acts as our final destination for map content in Jalopy. It’s been quite a journey and we are now towards the final stretch for full release. Greg is already working on the next content update and is looking at The Uncle, achievements, wheel input etc.
The Turkey update has been in the Testing branch for a little while and I’d like to take this time to thank everyone who was involved! You guys are awesome and have really helped us by reporting bugs in the forum or directly via Greg’s tumblr blog (http://minskworks.tumblr.com/)
So what’s in the update? There’s a massive change log at the bottom of this announcement which details all the changes that happened between the last public release and the Turkey update. We believe this is probably our largest update of bug fixes to date and hope we’ve eliminated quite a few issues. We’ll highlight some of the major changes below:
Turkey map
The biggest addition to this update is the addition of Turkey. To celebrate the launch of this we created a new trailer which shows a portion of the Turkey route

The Official Jalopy Sound Track
Jeremy Warmsley has been outputting some tremendous music for Jalopy and we feel that he has captured the games tone perfectly. Two new tracks are a part of this update and can be listened to in game right now!
There are currently no plans to produce any additional music, so we felt it was the right time to release the full sound track on Steam.
The soundtrack in game has an audio effect which makes it sound as though it's coming from the old speakers of a Laika 601 Deluxe. The soundtrack however has crisp high quality effects which do not have any audio effects applied to them. We are considering updating the soundtrack in the future to include additional tracks which replicate the laika 601 Deluxe's audio effects. let us know if this is something you want included as an update to the soundtrack!
Track listing below:
01 Meinen Laika
02 Lange Reise
03 Dresdner Automobilclub
04 Harmonikatalas
05 Krugovi
06 Dunaújváros Daytripping
07 Let's Go For A Drive
07 Plazhen Tants
09 Kalkan
10 Balkan Girl I Love You!
11 Yuva Hatıraları
12 Anthem Zu Lieben
Tyre Repair Kits
Tyres can now be repaired with the new Tyre repair kit. They are cheaper than purchasing a replacement tyre and easy to use. Just unscrew the tyre from the axel and use the tyre repair kit directly onto the tyre while it is still attatched to the
The price of tyres based on their compound has also been balanced.
Licence Plates
The game will now generate a random Licence plate for your Laika 601 Deluxe. These License Plates adhere to the real world licencing rules in the DDR. What this means is that if you can decipher your licence plate you will be able to find out a little bit of history of your trusty Laika. Share your discoveries in the forum!
Additionally, Abandoned cars will also spawn with a random licence plate, this feature may be expanded upon in the future but we'll keep you posted.
Drive Back Home
With this update players are now able to drive back towards home, allowing them to drive all the way back to the Uncle who will be patiently waiting for them at the abandoned Laika Garage which you call home.
Car handling improved
A number of changes have been made to the car handling which should improve the quality of both keyboard and mouse as well as controller users

Turkey Update Out on 9th June!
Hi everyone,
Just popping in to let everybody know that we can now confirm the public release date for the Turkey update: 9th June 2017.
Watch out for a much more detailed announcement next week, detailing all of the Turkey update’s features!
The Turkey Testing Branch Is Live!
Hello everyone! Today we have some great news for you, we’re going to be releasing a testing branch for the Turkey update. We intend to release the Turkey update in May but of course, no matter how much testing we put into the build, it cannot replicate the thousands of hours that the community can produce! So, we’re bound to miss a few things!
If you want to help us find those last few bugs then we’d greatly appreciate it. I’m going to tidy up the Steam Forums and introduce a new sub forum called the Turkey Bug Forum where players can report and post any issues that they have found with the testing branch.
Here is the link to the Testing forum for Jalopy... You must Own Jalopy to see and post in this forum:
At the bottom of this announcement will be directions on how to access this testing branch.
With this update, the gates to Turkey will open. I’ve decided not to post any screenshots of this particular map region, we’ll share some more details in due course along with a new trailer and music once we reach public release.
Additionally, this is the first iteration of travelling back home via driving. Previously you could only return home with a fast travel system, but now you will be able to select a route by clicking “Head back” on the map. You will still need to complete a route and stay in a hotel at each town, but you can now spend some time within the areas you enjoy driving and spend that time scavenging for loot and upgrading your car.
It's worth noting that there is now a Notice board that appears when launching the game. This is to communicate any changes that some players may not have seen us talk about in the announcements or discussion posts. Right now, there's an important note on how Pad inputs work. They are disabled by default because they seem to cause some control conflict issues when turned on with some PC Set ups. However, if you want to play with a Pad, just enter the options menu and toggle it to on!
There have also been a lot of fixes and additions that might go unnoticed but definitely just as important! The full changelog is below:

Bulgaria Update Out Now! Tyres, New Cashier System, New Music and 33% off
Hello everyone,
Jalopy has just received a brand new update which brings with it some adjustments to tyre wear, new tyre types, more music tracks Bulgaria to explore and a selection of other changes and fixes. For just a brief look at some of the changes, you can watch the trailer for the Bulgaria route here:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PNqvW88vtwE
Those of you who want to know more about the changes, I’ll go into a lttle more detail below:
New Tyre System
Previously, players would need to just replace their tyres when they burst. Now, we have a selection of different conditions which affect tyre traction. If you’re driving in pouring rain, you’re going to want wet tyres, if you fancy off roading, you’re probably going to want to fit some off road tyres.
The tyres can be purchased from petrol stations and the Autershop at the end of each route and come in several variants including soft, medium and hard compound.
Soft Compound: Tyres wear at a faster rate but have an increased level of grip
Medium Compound: Tyres wear at an average rate and have an average level of grip
Hard compound: Tyres wear at a slower rate but they have a decreased level grip
Remember, your Laika 601 Deluxe can store two tyres in the trunk, but you can hold additional tyres with the officially licensed roof rack which can be found inside Laika Dealerships.
New Music
Jeremy has been at it again and has created two more tracks for Jalopy!
New Cashier system
When selling goods, you now may be alerted by the cashier that they can’t afford to buy what you are selling. When choosing a route, the cashiers on the route will spawn with a certain number of finances available to them, up to 300. We have seen some playthroughs where a lucky spawn for a crate of wine will give players a massive influx of cash which makes upgrading your car much more satisfying.
Bear in mind though, that while the cashier may not be able to afford the goods you want to sell with cash, you may be able to exchange it for any items in the shop. Make sure to place the goods you want to trade it for onto the counter first before placing the goods you want to sell.
Bulgaria
This is the penultimate location for Jalopy. It features large off road areas, winding roads and flooded off road tracks.
Greg is now at work on the Turkey route, which will be the final destination in Jalopy. Once that’s been added we will start looking at several other features including driving back home. More details will be shared in the coming weeks
To celebrate the new Bulgaria update, we have also put the game into a 33% off discount on Steam.
As always, thank you for the support, if you experience any issues, let us know in the forums or email us at support@excalibur-publishing.com

Public Beta - Bulgaria, Tyres and More
Hello everyone,
Today, we’re releasing a new build onto the Patch test area of Jalopy. In order to access it you’ll need to select the patch area from within Steam. Details on how to do this will be at the bottom of this post. It is important to note that this patch build is being released to help us track down any issues that we may have missed from internal testing.
Once this build hits as a full release I’ll share more details with screenshots and a full breakdown and explanation of any core changes. The major changes are below:
Tyres
We've introduced new types of tires including wet and off road tyres. These each have a soft, medium or hard compound. So if your cars grip is less than expected, chances are you’re going to need to replace the tyres.
Bulgaria
Twisty roads, hills and some other features await for you in this new route. It will be much tougher than before to reach Bulgaria due to the changes mentioned previously. But I hope you’ll enjoy the route when you get there!
The full change log for all internal builds is below.

Accessing the Public Beta
We have performed some tests here and have found save data from previous builds should work in the public beta. However, we recommend that you back up save data from the games folder as there could be a chance that save data may be lost. Additionally, there may be some issues that you will encounter. Do let us know if you come across anything! Details on how to install the public beta are below:
1. Right click on Jalopy in your Steam library and select properties
2. A window will open up, click beta
3. Select Public Beta from the drop down menu
4. The game should now update, but Steam may need to restart if it does not download
Jalopy Build 06203 Now Live (Rolling And Pushing)
Hello everyone,
The latest build of Jalopy (Build 06203) is now live. This build contains some slight improvements to the AI performance but also a couple of new features.
The images below are from the @JalopyGame twitter account. Make sure to follow as Greg posts a few teaser images and details on this account.
If you've somehow managed to topple your car over into a full roll, you'll now be able to salvage the car by rolling it back into the upright position. Simply click on the cars frame and you'll attempt to roll it back over.
Those who became stranded due to running out of fuel or neglecting general maintenance used to have to walk to the nearest petrol station. While you'll still need to try and get to the petrol station, at least you can now bring the car with you. Hop out of the car, click and hold on the steering wheel and push!
We noticed in the last build that some users are experiencing FPS drops. If this build has not increased the FPS for you, please do the following:
Go into the options menu and decrease the AI density
If this doesn't work, contact us at support@excalibur-publishing.com with your dxdiag and details on estimated frame rates and where you experience any drops
We'll do our very best to help anyone who contacts us on this, so any further info would allow us to work towards any fixes.
Changelog 06203
<*>Doubled timestep to improve physics performance (physics now ticks at 100fps rather than 200fps)
<*>Can now roll the car by clicking on the frame
<*>Can now push the car by clicking and holding on the steering wheel while outside of the drivers seat
<*>Cleaned up the car jack so it doesn't appear floating anymore[/list
Build 06202 Now Live
Hi everyone! Another small update today which fixes just a few issues.
Changelog 06202
Enabled lower timestep of 0.005 - This should remove the stutter effect when walking and looking at the same time -
Items should no longer drop through the floor
Fixed issue with leaking fuel draining based on current frame rate rather than time
Better cursor locking for both KBM & Pad inputs - should prevent cursor straying and should always lock after pause
Raised the deadzone for pads
Fixed gamepad reverse issue
Fixed crate spawning behind fence in CSFR Build 0.201
As always, if there are any issues, do let us know via email at support@excalibur-publishing.com or post in the forums.
