Game Progress & Freaky Friends!

Two brand new areas, a new kind of enemy type, as well as collectables have been added to the full game (coming soon).

The two new areas are "Reception" and "Underground Parking", the former containing the Faceless Gang patrolling an open area full of security, and the latter being the first boss fight of the game (that will be another news update coming shortly).




The new enemy type are called "Faceless Cameras." These cameras are scattered throughout the areas and will scan the environment for the protagonist, players will need to use their stealth skills to avoid detection and progress through the area. There's three types of Faceless Cameras: one that sets off an alarm alerting the Faceless Gang, another armed with a remote controlled gun to shoot at the player, and another armed with explosives to detonate if it detects the players presence. I'm also working on a mechanic for players to 'disarm' or 'break' the cameras if desired.



In the spirit of looting and exploration, collectable dolls called "Freaky Friends" have also been added to the game. There's one hidden in each level and finding them unlocks achievements.




A third new area called "IT Basement" is also in the development with cryptic puzzles and new horror elements (but more about that later)

Not a massive update but wanted to share that development is strong and steady. I'm hoping to make Jawbreaker a truly unique and unforgettable gaming experience that will keep you fully engaged and on the edge of your seat!

Jawbreaker trailer and updates!

The first trailer for Jawbreaker is here! There has also been a number of updates to the demo (including a new item)



The updates to the demo:



  • NEW ITEM: A chemical cocktail called "Vision" let's you see enemies through walls for 60 seconds to enhance your stealth abilities (images below)
  • New highlighting system that subtly shows the player interactables such as items, doors, drawers, and 'examine' locations
  • New event from shooting targets in the shooting range
  • More tutorial information around 'sneaking'
  • Additional note in the Security WingMinor bug fixes

Jawbreaker Demo: Updates & Fixes

After reading feedback and watching streamers play the Jawbreaker Demo there has been a number of fixes and updates that are now all live!



Fixes:



  • Enemy attacks missing while crouching or strafing fixed
  • Enemy animation glitch when distracted by Beer Bottle fixed
  • Holding up a throwable Beer Bottle blocking enemy detection fixed
  • Death animations clipping into environment fixed
  • Rare FadeInOut screen animation glitch while skipping cutscenes fixed
  • Missing colliders on gameobjects fixed
  • Occlusion culling anomalies fixed

Updates:



  • Enemy walking, running, idle, patrol, and attack all updated to higher quality animations
  • Enemy attacks now faster and more aggressive
  • Stylistic neon lighting more dynamic and more common in gang hideout
  • Items moved in scenes to be more accessible
  • Additional voice lines added
  • Additional jumpscare added to "Security"
  • All desks, cabinets, and drawers can now be interacted with
  • Items now stack in the Suitcase for better inventory management
  • More polished death animations







I'll try to do future updates in big batches to minimise the amount of Steam updates, though a lot of what I wanted to incorporate into the demo is now live.

Jawbreaker demo has launched!

The playable demo for the stealth-horror game "Jawbreaker" is now available for download on Steam! (and soon Itchio). Enter a collapsed society where gangs rule and looting is the only way to stay alive...





The Story:



In this anarchistic city there’s one rule everyone must follow: Hide before sundown. Though supplies are running low in your shelter, so you venture into the fray to hunt for something to bring back. During this search an untouched police station catches your eye, an unusual sight in a heavily looted neighbourhood. You take the risk and break-in through an unsecured door, shortly after dread begins to set in as you realise who has taken refuge in this station, and why no other scavengers dare to enter it.

The Demo:



Takes place in a segment called "The Break-In" which is after "The Streets of New Citadel City" and before the main events of the story. Explore NCPD and 4 of its goon infested levels as you scavenge, track, hide, fight, and run to stay alive.

Demo for Jawbreaker coming soon!

The demo for Jawbreaker is coming soon! Dive into a gang-ruled society where the only goal is to stay alive. It will contain 4 playable areas, 9 objectives, a wide range of inventory items, and an introduction to the games terrifying enemies.





The demo will show a glimpse of the stealth, looting, and combat mechanics. In the full game players will be able to decide if they are cautious and quiet, or quick and loud to achieve their goals.



I'm aiming to launch the demo in January and will be available on Steam (and possibly Itch.io).

Jawbreaker needs voice actors!

Jawbreaker is deep in development and needs 9 roles filled by talented voice actors.



A big part of the story are the gang members that populate the game, they are based loosely on the gangs from "Manhunt" in their mannerisms (some roles have an audio link to get more info on the inspiration).

"Jawbreaker" is in development!

Let’s play hide-and-seek with serial killers.

Jawbreaker is a psychological horror game that will have you running, hiding, and fighting to survive a terrifying gang-infested society on the verge of collapse. Though that’s not all, once the sun goes down the true fear will begin...



My latest game called "Jawbreaker" will dive deep into psychological horror and include features like stealth, puzzles, and combat. Despite the Steam and IndieDB pages being just launched, the game is already deep in development and has been worked on since the completion of my last game "Witching Hour".




The Story
