What's been going on?

Happy humpday, killers!

It's been about 5 months since our last update. Far too long. However, we have been hard at work during this period.

J.A.W.S was intially intended to be a "jump into the river" test for us new developers. It is our first release and we wanted to get our feet wet and develop a plan more atuned to the player, you. We have received a lot of feedback and we appreciate that. We are using this feedback to focus on areas that need the most improvement.

You may be asking yourself, "Self, what have they been working on these past 5 months?". Good question, glad you asked. We have been working on completely redoing the base code for J.A.W.S. This new foundation will allow for many new features and easier integration to include all areas of development.

Unfortunately, these changes take a long time for a team of 2.5 but we're working hard and haven't given up.

As always, we appreciate the feedback. This is a learning process for us and we have learned a lot.

Hotfix #1

Greetings community,

Since the release of J.A.W.S last week, we at Corn Fed Games have been busy working on a hotfix for you. This update packs a lot of bug fixes and small changes to smooth out the gameplay. Additionally, this hotfix includes updating the project to the latest version of UE4.

We would like to sincerely thank everyone who has taken the time to report bugs and other issues. This hotfix is aimed to fix most of those reports.


    <*>Fixed electrical room door unlocking without accessing the security room
    <*>Fixed the electrical room door message not disappearing
    <*>Shortened easter egg rock song to 3 minutes
    <*>Fix collision on the doorway in the recreation room
    <*>Removed small, red generator that caused a lot of confusion
    <*>Moved the revolver, SCAR and XM8 to be easier to pickup
    <*>Removed G & Mouse wheel inputs
    <*>Added ESC to bring up the in-game menu. "P" also works still.
    <*>Changed the hole in the floor near the armory and kitchen so it doesn't
    stop the AI pathing
    <*>Removed the ability to jump on railings
    <*>Added "no-go" areas that will keep the player from going to places the AI
    can't go
    <*>Changed the delay before the start of a wave from 10 seconds to 20
    seconds
    <*>Changed AI to have more health at the start and increase more after each
    wave
    <*>Changed AI walkers to wait longer before running
    <*>Brightened emission from objective items so they are easier to find.
    <*>Closed off the kitchen counter and opened the door
    <*>Updated HUD text to include a dynamic key reference instead of always "E"
    <*>Fixed how many AI could be alive at one time. Previously this was not
    working so 50+ AI would be alive at one time in later waves.
    <*>Added an optimization pass to the lights to combat the loss of frames when
    turning the power on.
    <*>Completely changed the algorithm for how many AI are spawned for each
    wave
    <*>Blocked a way to get out of the compound by jumping out a window

    Day 1 Report

    Greetings players!

    Today has been the release of J.A.W.S. As to be expected of an early access game, some players enountered bugs and other issues. We would first like to sincerely thank all the players that took the time to play the game and report any issues to us. We have documented all of these reports and will work fervently to fix as many as we can before or during the next update.

    There have been some consistent confusion with some of the gameplay aspects and tasks. We encourage the player to explore the level in fair detail. Specifically though, the task to refill the generator has led to some unforeseen confusion. The little, red generator in the second floor of the storage shed is NOT the generator needed. The generator you have to use is much larger and will display instructions on adding the fuel when you are close to it.

    Picking up items are sometimes difficult depending on location. Usually, this can be overcome by simply aiming at the item and picking it up from there. We are currently polishing these items to make them easier to pick up in the future.

    Welcome to J.A.W.S!

    Greetings and salutations!

    We at Corn Fed Games are anxiously awaiting the release of our first title, J.A.W.S. After two years of building, we are finally scheduled for release on March 8th.

    We are looking forward to interacting with players and establishing a solid rapport with the community. We have many other great concepts that we plan to produce and we hope you will join us on this dynamic and exciting journey.
