Over the next couple of weeks the updates will be finishing the list of wants that have accumulated at the bottom of the update feed. After that is completed It will give me more time to perfect Obscure Realm before the somewhere between August and October. Hoping to have that game be without bugs because if not then it won't be released until its ready (unlike johns.game).

News Letter of Doom: Week 5: New Schedule, Update, Challenge, Obscure Realm?

The New Schedule: Whats happening?
It's been a rusty 2 weeks, a broken update, weird add-ons
that were more or less just a distraction, sorry.
Now there is, for now, a permanent schedule for how updates
and newsletters will go out.
Every Sunday the 'News Letter of Doom' will come out for everyone to read at 10am Eastern Standard.
Then, if I have anything else to say then a 'Part 2' will also be released. Every Saturday is
the day I will be writing the 'News Letter of Doom' so
if you have anything you would like to say just shoot
me a message on Steam.
Updates will come out every week no matter how big or
small. At the beginning of the week at the very bottom of
the newsletter will show everything that is planned to come
out and at the end of the week the 'Change-Log' and update will
show exactly what does end up coming out.
Also for anyone who did not know we have a Steam Group for
Obscure Studios, this will also be regularly updated.
Updates:
Updates will come out every week BUT once a week.
This gives people a set time to go and play the update every
Saturday. Updates will be worked on from the start of the week
to the end of the week. Any ideas sent to me will be put off to
the next week unless its small add-on or its a fix. This new
updates has a few fixes mainly achievement fixes.
Obscure Realm: Haven't said that in a while
"Oh boy" an old friend once told me when I first told him I
wanted to make games, Obscure Realm wasn't my first idea but
it was the first I released. This person was Jeremy, a good
but not so around friend anymore, this is for you Jeremy.
Obscure Realm, this first Idea put to code will be released on
Steam in early October this year. Development is being worked on
and it will be as hard, and confusing as it was before. This time
you will have a real reason to go forward in the game. The previous
GameJolt release made people love it. Tons of feedback was received,
lots of things were fixed. But this, basically a remaster, will be the best top-down game you could possibly think off. Story,
Shops, BETTER COMBAT, and everything I learned from johns.game.
This may seem like just a jumble of information but really its
just an excited yet worried me getting ready to go back to an
old project. The game was already voted YES back in early February.

A Challenge for you, its very simple. Beat the GameJolt version
and you get the game for free on release.
To prove this you must share a screenshot of level 63, you
will know when you get there. That's it, its that simple.

News Letter of Doom: Week 4: Updates, Settlements, Nukapedia, Summer Sale
Why Updates are taking so Long:
Recently I have moved to a new area, meeting new faces, expressing new feelings, and being overall more happy. Where I used to live I really had no one around that I wanted to talk to so I was unable to update this game pretty much daily. Now that I have more people in my life its harder to so updates will be more weekly than daily. I just wanted to inform you all.
Settlements:How they work (or should have)
Over the last week I was working on adding settlements, just another thing to distract you in the game. But after I had spent a week on this I had realized that this would not make any sense, your character has no idea how to run a settlement and would be to shook after watching what happened to the group of people he tried to lead. John is a family man, not a full blown leader. So now I have moved on and at most you will be able to pay people to do tasks for you but you will not be able to choose where and how people work. How settlements would have worked is YES you would have to pay the people with food, water, shelter, and coin, but you would get great benifits of doing so. You would have animal and C.C attacks on your town as the C.C are trying to take over the planet. There would have been a lot to do but I need to keep this game to the Lore.
Nukapedia:
Recently I have been going on Nukapedia for new ideas to add to the game. For those of you who don't know, Nukapedia is the Fandom site for Falllout games. I used to read this all the time just for the Hell of it but now I am reading it for ideas. I highley recommend reading it. So far I have gotten a few quest and weapon ideas from this if you have not noticed already. I stick more towards Fallout: New Vegas, the best Fallout game in my opinion.

News Letter of Doom: Week 3: johns.game, Pixel Art, Updates, & Cheats+
Its is now the third week of the News Letter of Doom, the news letter I started to keep peoples minds off the fact that there were no new updates but now the ball is rolling again, new ideas are being made, things are happening.
johns.game:
There are so many little things in johns.game like for instance why the game is called johns.game, little meanings to everything. Real reasons for everything. One thing that you notice right off the bat (if look at the controls and test them) is that the frame-rate is generally always around 11-13 FPS, the reason for this is not to 'cap' the FPS but to make the game work exactly how it needs to (like how Horizon: Zero Dawn sets things to run around 30 FPS to make the world seem-less). All of the timers for food, water, posion, stuff like that is set to work better around this level and if it was any higher the game would be way to hard.
Pixel Art:
I am slowly realizing more and more that I do in fact need a pixel artists help. Things I want to add like canyons, new buildings, foliage, etc. I can not due to my limiting skill with the subject. This shows up in the game by lack of more new content. The new area that is being promised might even have to hold off till 4. because it would mean I would have to try as hard as I can to create new pixel art for the game when in reality I can not. So if you know anyone who would want to or maybe even you, feel free to add me.
Updates:
For the last week & 1/2 johns.game has recieved no updates. Well today after a long wait the game has been updated. This update brings new ways of the world, weird people to find, and cheats. Its more or less a smaller update but it did bring in a whole new set of ideas being added in the next update no doubt about it. Farming being one of them. Farming will help give you more to do, and also removing a bug with getting stuck on farms.

A good majority of updates and what they contain are from the community. So the more you all recommend the more that can be added in the game, including the spelling errors... maybe.
Guides and Cheats:
So you may have read on this Sundays changelog, if you did read it, that a Guide Writers and Cheaters updated has been added. This little add-in was made for those who want to write a guide or just explore some point in the world. If you would like to do one of these things either find someone who already has these cheats, figure them out yourself, or just straight up ask me.

News Letter of Doom: Week 2: 2 Weeks, 2,000 Copies
The News:
Today I worked on adding another gun to the game (SMG) and worked on IJ^0. I have decided on the fact that there is not real reason to add a veichle to the game on the count that all it would do is add more stress to the game and another over-powered item thats just not needed. Though it will stay in the back of my mind to add don't count on it any time soon, sorry.
Jason's shop was added back in the same place but not for long as we will soon be adding some type of Market Town where player(s) will be able to go and trade for weapons, metals, and foods. Concept art is already being drawn up for this town as it will be an entire new area of the map, like the forest area, it will be for higher players that can handle a challenge. This area will be at the end of the road players can currently find near Paleta and IJ^0.
Equiptable armour is seeming to be quite a challenge.
Happy 2000:
After a Month & a half since release we have now reached 2,000 copies/units sold on Steam. This may seem like a very small amount but think about the fact that most of this was over the last 2 weeks. Hearing about this and then seeing this completley made my day and I just wanted to let you all know that this a large community of players and with everyones help we can make this game better than it ever can be!
Collisions in games, and 'if' statements:
I am slowly realizing objects colliding with other objects is what makes up 1/3-2/3rds of my game. Why is this? Its because games are generally a bunch of what if's. Lets say you press the 'F' key, what happens? Well IF you press the 'F' key then it does 'X', you understand then props. Lets say this, if my players bullet hits another object, well this needs to have a cause and effect or the bullet will simply pass through the other object because it does not register as an object because you did not tell the bullet to do anything. Now lets tell the bullet to do something, like IF the bullet COLLIDES with the other object -2 HP, or maybe the bullet gets destroyed. Hope somebody understands even though this kind of made no sense.
Stuff with Zrrr:
The new Programmer & Pixel Artist that was talked about in the previous 'News Letter of Doom' fell through and will not be joining the team so as always it will just be me and the musician. We are currently looking for submissions of amazing new ideas that could change the face of how you play the game. (Maybe if someone wanted to write a guide???)

Sorry about the lack of updates everyone but I have been busy on the next wave of content coming out. So far Enemies getting stuck in plants and rocks has been fixed, new content to IJ^0 has been made, and new weapons will be added. Vechicles will be added to but right now they are just at concept work and the same going for the new shops being added. Mac support is not surefire but it will be added at somepoint. The update will be sometime around next week.
And now the news with Zrrr:
The News Letter of Doom will be a weekly thing from now on and can apear at random times during the week with no real set date other than during "business days". Whatever that means its dumb.
Do you guys think I should post more on the YouTube channel of video on whats going on, or should I just stick with this and Twitter?
