Warp Frontier Voice Actor Spolight - Angela Tran as Dahlia Tran

Next up in the Warp Frontier Voice Actor spotlights is Angela Tran!

Angela plays Dahlia Tran, daughter of Trish and Titus. Just turned 13, She has grown up in the orbital slums of a planet devestated by a war that also took her father.

This was the first role Angela was cast in, before she put in a surprisingly good audition for Jet, then a couple of other minor roles. Angela plays a great angsty teen, and she really rose to the demands of the broad set of emotions written for Dahlia.

Warp Frontier Voice Actor Spolight - Aimee Smith as The Ship

Next up in the Warp Frontier Voice Actor spotlights is Aimee Smith!

Aimee plays the ship's computer. Consistent, reassuring, could easily be a condender for the role of Siri, Alexa, or "Hey Google".

This is the first repeat Warp Frontier Voice Actor spotlight. Several actors play multiple roles in the game, and as each role is different I'm showcasing them separately.

It's amazing to hear Aimee slip into the ship's voice in realtime, you would swear there was someone else in the room!

Warp Frontier Voice Actor Spolight - Lazar Djukić as Stepan Kuznetsov

Next up in the Warp Frontier Voice Actor spotlights is Lazar Djukić!

Lazar plays General Stepan Kuznetsov. Disgraced for losing the Cetan war, his only path to redemption lies in erasing his past misdeeds.

Lazar brought a combination of crime boss and strongarm politician to the role of Stepan. Someone who can go from charming to threatening in the blink of an eye. For Lazar's role I was again helped by Serbia-based Luka Barajevic, who recorded all of Lazar's lines in his studio.

Warp Frontier Voice Actor Spolight - Alison Craig as Dorothy Maguire

Next up in the Warp Frontier Voice Actor spotlights is Alison Craig!

Alison plays Dorothy Maguire. From a well to do Cetan family, but lost much fleeing to orbit during the flooding of Cetus, including her husband and daughter.

Alison is the only voice actor from Jolly Rover I was able to cast in Warp Frontier. Alison delievered a fantastic performance for Captain Butcher, and was the first person I thought of when I was casting for the role of Dorothy. I very much enjoyed working with Alison, and hope there's a project in the future we can collaborate on.

I recommend checking out Alison's podcast What's the Chat, if you're a fan of her work.

Warp Frontier Voice Actor Spolight - Kufre Etim as Robert 'Rob' Deng

Next up in the Warp Frontier Voice Actor spotlights is Kufre Etim!

Kufre plays Robert 'Rob' Deng. A droid tech just getting started in the business, runs afoul of a droid behaving strangely while on a job in new Locan mine.

This role was the hardest to cast as there seems to be a fairly small pool of Australian voice actors with an African background. I used a couple of casting websites - Mandy, and StarNow. StarNow proved to be the best for finding Australian talent. I did all my casting for Jolly Rover on Voice123, but it seems much harder to find Australian talent on there. I think in future I'll be posting jobs between StarNow and Voice123, depending on what I'm looking for.

Rob provided just the performance I was looking for, and I'd work with him again, but I did need to do a bit of post-processing on the audio. I learned a lot about tools for getting audio levelled and cleaned up to go into the game. Izotope RX was the only tool I found that could clean up everything, and their batch processing was exactly what I needed for so many files.

Warp Frontier Voice Actor Spolight - Ivona Kustudić as Blanka Simovic

Next up in the Warp Frontier Voice Actor spotlights is Ivona Kustudić!

Ivona plays Blanka Simovic. From Locus, the Locan homeworld, Blanka works as a Federation agent providing security and weapons support.

When casting actors to play the Locans I wanted an Eastern European accent, but didn't want actors to put on an accent, so I wanted to cast people from this region. All the actors that play Locans are based out of Serbia. Special thanks to Kristina Drzaic and Luka Barajevic for helping me with casting.

Warp Frontier Voice Actor Spolight - Angela Tran as Jet Young

Next up in the Warp Frontier Voice Actor spotlights is Angela Tran!

Angela plays Jet Young. Hailing from Zeta Centauri, Jet works as an Agent of the Federation, serving as tech security, with a bionic arm that arm packs a punch!

Angela plays four characters in Warp Frontier, the most of any other actor. Angela was referred to me by Aimee Smith for the role of Dahlia, as I was looking for a Vietnamese Australian to play the part. Angela subsequently connected me with Dom Dinh, who ended up with the role of Titus. Angela's first audition was for Dahlia, but since I'd sent the entire character set she tried out for Jet and the Rust Kids too.

I had not expected to cast an Australian for the role of Jet, who I expected to have a West coast American accent, but Angela had such a convincing accent, which I validated with some of my American friends, that I was happy to cast her in the role.

Angela's recordings are clean and levelled, so almost go into the game as is, which saves me a ton of time. When I find an actor like this, I'm happy when I can give them a lot of lines.

Warp Frontier Voice Actor Spolight - Colin Cassidy as Colin Gyngell

Next up in the Warp Frontier Voice Actor spotlights is Colin Cassidy!

Colin plays Colin Gyngell. Resident busybody in The Rust, Colin lives across from Trish and seems perpetually outside his apartment, waiting to talk your ear off.

I was looking for a bit of comic relief with this character and was influenced by Aussie comedy actors in the 80's and 90's. I need a big personality to play this part and Colin Cassidy exploded into my audition with his over-the-top take on Colin, and who better to play Colin, than another Colin. Colin. There's so much outtake audio I could provide for this character, and maybe someday I will so you can hear how Colin crafted and stayed in character. This character was a delight to direct and at times had me laughing out loud.

Warp Frontier Voice Actor Spolight - Wolf Williams as Thomas Bishop

Next up in the Warp Frontier Voice Actor spotlights is Wolf Williams!

Wolf plays Thomas Bishop. A 180 year old Federation Agent, investigating the Cetan disappearances. One of the few to survive Earth's Singularity - 'The Reset'.

As I've mentioned before, we're spoilt for choice when it comes to actors from the US, which is a blessing and a curse when it comes to making a casting decision. However, I was not able to cast the role of Thomas via my local network, so had to look further afield.

I posted this job on Voice123 and had several applications that were pretty great, but I decided to go searching for profiles on my own. I asked Wolf to put in an audition after listening to his reel, and I believe he responded in under 12 hours with an audition that landed him the role.

Wolf has a voice like rolling thunder, and was the only voice actor I had to turn my headphones down a bit for. There's so much presence and depth to his voice that I worried I wouldn't be able to balance him with the other actors, but luckly, once I added him to the game, with the addition of some accoustic effects and positional audio, he fit right in!
