Bug Fixes

Fixed default resolution being set to 800x600 on startup
Fixed the player being able to go out of bounds at the first portal in 1-1 Jumpy Jungle

Updates

Jump Meter
Due to player suggestions, I have added a Jump Meter to the right hand side of the screen that lets the player know how much power they are using in their jumps. This will help both new and returning players better judge how they will tackle certain jumps. It will also further explain how long you can hold the jump button until it hits its maximum.

Updated Tutorial
Not only is there a new tutorial segment explaining the Jump Meter, also due to player feedback some other key features weren't really explained either. I have now updated the tutorial to explain all main mechanics and key bindings needed to play Jump Kid.

Faster Deaths
3 seconds seemed like a long time to wait before you respawn. Which I totally agree! Players vented their frustration on how long it took to respawn, so I have made a huge change to the respawn speed. Dying has been shortened dramatically, which will allow you to die even faster now.

Updated Trees
It was really frustrating to repeatedly die in the beginning of a checkpoint, so I have made some adjustments to the tree segment in 1-1 Jumpy Jungle.

Update may require you to replay the tutorial.

Thank you to everyone who has play tested Jump Kid thus far, and I look forward to updating the game even more. All feedback is always welcome and I appreciate everyone's input more than anything.

Demo Is Officially Playable!

After many months, I am proud to say that the demo for Jump Kid is officially live! This is a demo and is still under heavy development, so all feedback is extremely valuable. If you have played the demo, please be sure to fill in the survey, and share it with your friends!

What is playable in the demo:

The new player Tutorial
The entirety of the first level
Access to your Home
2 HogWick Challenges
2 Hats you can by with in-game gold
Options and settings menu

These are just the many few features that are playable in the demo. The full game will have much more content and hundreds of activities to do. This demo is meant to demonstrate the main focus of Jump Kid, as that is hard but rewarding gameplay centered around the jump mechanic.

What will be coming soon?

Right now I am working on some contests and community events with exclusive prizes that will include money, and physical trophies. First thing I plan on doing when Jump Kid gains some traction on the demo, is a speedrun competition. So be sure to follow social media to know when that happens!

And of course thank you to everyone who has supported me, and pushed me to finally get this demo out. I hope you all have just as much fun playing it as I have had making it. I look forward to finishing the full game!

After you played the Demo, please fill out this survey!

I'm back! Jump Kid demo actually coming soon.

My most sincere apologies to all those I left waiting for the demo. After a series of unfortunate events, and numerous speed bumps in my way, I can now confidently say the demo for Jump Kid will actually be coming soon.

Initial delays were due to my underestimation on just how close the demo was to be finished. Bug after bug I fixed it seemed to never be enough. It wasn't until a week or two after my last announcement that I finally fleshed out the demo and got rid of (hopefully) all bugs.

Fast forward to the next day...and I just wasn't happy with the demo. Maps were too basic, sound design just didn't hit it for me, and many of the zones just didn't sit right with me. Next month or two after completely redesigning the game, I noticed my computer just couldn't keep up with the speeds I was setting my pace for. I then got the idea to upgrade the entirety of my PC to make sure I could run Ue5 (yes I silently switched from Ue4 to 5 a month before my last announcement). Got the new parts, and decided to get to work. At least I would have if it actually worked. Unfortunately for me, I ran into many problems upgrading my PC. Fix after fix, it was never enough. It wasn't until last week that I found and out and replaced my CPU to finally fix my errors.

Now my computer is up and running and working better than ever! I can finally say the demo for Jump Kid will actually be coming out very soon. I refuse to make any promises, so you will just have to believe me. (Very professional I know) Thank you so much for reading and your interest in my game. I am very excited for you to try it!

NEW JumpKid Demo Coming Soon!

It has been a while since I gave you fellas an update on JumpKid, so hopefully this announcement is exciting for some of you. But before I go into the details of the new demo remember everything about the game is liable to change. I HIGHLY recommend you join the discord if you wish to help me make JumpKid the best game it can be.

As promised, the completely newly remade JumpKid demo is coming very, VERY soon. I don't like to promise exact dates, but don't be surprised if it comes out within a week or two from now. In the demo you will be able to experience many new mechanics the old version did not have. To name just a few:

1. First look into the in-game challenge system.
2. Never seen before had shop to make your character look especially dumb.
3. A fun and creatively new visual experience. (Seriously the game looks way nicer now)
4. Test the new playable characters.
5. Newly implemented tutorial.
6. And of course last but not least, the honor of being the first ones to play the first level of the base game once JumpKid fully released. (Content liable to change drastically)

Once the demo is out and ready for you to play, I will post much more in depth detail about what you can and can't do for those who don't like reading too much. But one thing you can know for sure is I genuinely believe you will find the game not only challenging, but most importantly fun.

I will most likely be posting it to my itch.io page when it's ready. Maybe there is a way I can make a demo on Steam, but until then be sure to follow my social media so you know exactly when and where to download it!

Sneak peak at NEW playable characters!

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and very Happy New year! I come back with another update to give an awesome sneak peak on the two playable characters you can play as in Jump Kid! After many months working with an extremely talented 3D artist jwsculptor3d, we finally got an extremely exciting look into the Jump Kids characters. While I still work on the animations for them, this wouldn't have been possible without his incredible work, so don't feel shy to share jwsculptor3d some love! https://www.artstation.com/johanwilsonreyes

Maybe more playable characters will be released as time goes on, or perhaps some unlockable that are already in the game....regardless feel free to share your opinion in the comments below! Jump Kid is an ever growing, almost constant work in progress that is getting new features, more levels, and an EXTREME amount of love and care to Divinal's first professional high quality release.

These were two characters that I actually had made concept art of far before Jump Kid was in development. They were suppose to be apart of a story of two twins that lost their parents, and are then forced to take either their mother or fathers way of life, which were both drastically different.
While they look more friendly and nice now, the origin of their characters were once suppose to be very dramatic and fierce.

Thank you so much for taking interest in the project, and I hope you're here to stay! Wishlist the game if it's something you find interesting. Or if you wish to go a step further, join the discord and follow my social media!
