Hey Everyone, It's me, your favorite developer on the entire internet. In January you asked for another vehicle to build, so today I have a motocross bike with a buildable engine.
Hammerhead 250F: This is an open world game, so it's available from the start of the game. The frame costs $1200. It can be found in the junkyard. Its parts spawn on a nearby pallet.
You'll need to visit the junkyard a few times to get most of the parts for the engine. New Age Auto has the necessary parts for the occasional top-end rebuild, which is great because you will probably abuse the hell out of this bike.
Don't forget this bike needs coolant, oil, and transmission fluid. Technically it can still run without it, but you'll blow the top end quickly without it.
The 250F engine has these parts: 250F block w/ crank Right Side Casing Flywheel Timing Chain Clutch Carburetor Head Head Gasket Cylinder Piston Oil Filter Valve Cover Flywheel Cover Clutch Cover Transmission Fluid
Some quick tips: -An engine build manual is located in the auto parts store. -The LShift button can be used to control forward and backward leaning, for wheelies and stoppies. -You can paint the bike's plastics, as well as wash it with the hose. -The bike can be recovered using the tow service. -Shut off the bike using the kill switch on the handlebar. -You can pick the bike up and carry it if you need to. -If the bike starts dragging ass it probably needs a new top end.
Unrelated fixes in this update: -Fixed an issue where Jimmy Junks would reinstall cam gear without a bolt. -Added a hotfix to fix any improperly missing bolts in in your save. -Mud would sometimes never adhere to the truck's body, or would be nearly impossible to wash off. -Terrain hole fixes. -Jiggs Casey could find a V8 block you couldn't grab. -Fix to another lotto ticket exploit. -Some code refactoring and other minor things nobody should worry about at this time. -More fixes that won't make sense unless you're in the beta branch(you can still view them in the main menu).
I appreciate all of the feedback I get in the discord. There are still many things to improve and add. We have a long ways to go, but I'll make sure we get there. If you like this game give it a thumbs up.
Thank You, Keystone

JUMP CHALLENGES, STEAM ACHIEVEMENTS, AND FIXING THINGS
Hey Everyone, It's me, the developer of your favorite game on Steam(Junkyard Truck). In this update I've added:
-14 new Steam achievements. Some achievements are hidden, but you should be able to stumble across them relatively easily. None of them should require restarting the game.
-Several jump challenges scattered across the map. Even more jump challenges will be added shortly.
-Lots of terrain fixes and adjustments to existing natural jumps. You've probably seen a few natural jumps on the map, but their transitions and lips were sketchy or suboptimal. That's been fixed for the most part.
-Approaching a jump challenge will issue a prompt to track the location. It should be easy to identify where the jump's starting and landing points are located.
Additional fixes and changes in this update: -Added a new mission for Don which can be activated with some prerequisites. -Increased sideways friction of rear wheels to reduce unintentional fishtailing and spinouts. -Increased steering responsiveness which became sluggish with new traction algorithms. -Fix to issues causing v8 engine to become misaligned in engine bay. -Various fixes to tobacco leaf spawning. -Fixes to welding wire not being saved properly. -Adjustment to traction algorithm to make traction less OP(probably not enough). -Adjustments to base horsepower of v8 and i4. -Turbo whine volume is now tied to rpm. -Various sticky spots on terrain fixed. -(Revisited)Addressed an issue where Jiggs' mission marker and mission entry is removed if game is saved/reloaded during the mission(existing saves could have an issue with this). -Fixed an issue with delivery zones where the same item could be placed into the zone multiple times to increase delivery count. -(Revisited)Fixed an issue where Jake's furniture mission could be completed by saving/reloading in the middle of the mission. -Fix to mismatched v8 head names in auto parts store. -Hotfix for old saves with glitched tobacco leaves(sleep on the couch to deactivate them) -Fixed V8 transmission having a $0 price tag. -Fixed an issue where aftermarket header could continually increase horsepower. -Fixed an issue where one of the tires in the auto parts store could not be bought. -Addressed some issues with mission trackers for cell tower delivery missions.
Previous fixes which were published but weren't announced: -Gas station fuel pump should now be easier to use when fueling the truck, car, or gas can. -Fixed an issue where certain out-of-bounds items were not returned to the lost-and-found area. -Misc audio improvements. -Hotfix to oil + coolant issues which were happening for a short time. -Fixed an issue where the v8 transmission was not saving when attached to the truck. -Addressed an issue where some pre-update saves might show the truck as missing.
There are still a lot of fixes, improvements, adjustments, and content to add. Some of the things I fixed could technically still be broken again under the right conditions, mainly with really old saves. I still have a big list of significant bugs to fix, but I'll keep working hard to fix things and eventually get us to a point where we can move beyond early access.
Have a good weekend, Keystone
Twin Turbo Update
Hey Everyone, Today your favorite developer(me) has a content update, plus a few fixes: We now have turbos and intercoolers for the V8, as well as some other cool-guy stuff. Plus I fixed a few things.
-I had to nerf the stock and v8 engines. They became too OP when combined with the recent traction update. But don't worry, you can still make an OP build with the V8/TT. -If you've built the V8 in the past, you've had to use the stock transmission, which wasn't a good fit. You can still use it(for now), but you're going to blow it up fairly quickly. So be sure you swap that out eventually.
Additional fixes in this patch: -Reduced CPU overhead of truck. -Fixed transmission bolt distortion issue. -Fixed some audio issues with rain. -Nerfed the base power of both engines, as they became too OP when combined with the traction update. -Flashlight switch should be less crappy. -Iron and wood weight displays should now be more accurate. -Giant tobacco leaves should not be giant any more. -Addressed an issue where i4 exhaust headers were not giving proper power increase. -Turbo whine noise decreased.
Thanks, Keystone
Cumulative patch notes for the last couple of weeks
Hey Everyone. Here's a list of all the updates made in the last couple weeks or so, plus some new ones in today's update:
Rather Important: -Prevented maps, service manuals, and other documents from being downscaled on lower texture quality settings. -Added two new save points; you can find payphones in the auto parts store, and another one at the junkyard(Request) -Jiggs Casey can now be paid to recover lost key items. -Fixed an issue where the engine could slowly rotate if the game was paused with the engine on, and if paused long enough, could violently whip itself back into position causing the truck to flip. -Addressed an issue where the car could hydrolock if transported immediately after getting stuck in water. -Fixed an issue where certain important entities like the truck key or computer terminal could become inactive. -Addressed the way the truck shuts off when upside down to hopefully fix a crash issue some users reported. -Fixed an issue where the truck's seat could move out of place. -Addressed an issue where engine head, distributor, rocker assembly, exhaust manifold, or main bearings could become difficult to detach or re-attach after reloading a save. -Graphics settings had an issue where the setting wasn't saved. -Fixed an issue where the disconnect icon wouldn't show up on certain parts, despite the part being able to disconnect. -Added a workaround for existing saves with stuck rear gears; just attach a new gear to reset it. -Fixed an issue where the rear differential cover wasn't saving properly, which lead to being unable to access the rear gears. Attach and remove the cover to reset it if your save has this issue.
Moonshine-Related: -Fixed an issue where Jake wouldn't buy moonshine without saving first. -Fixed issue with Jiggs Casey's mission marker not disappearing. -Corrected some incorrect price text on propane. -Bucket lid should now be easier to attach to bucket. -Increased price and trade-in value of propane tanks. -Fixed an issue where existing moonshine crates had an issue loading properly. -Added another cornmeal package to the store's shelf. -Fixed some time-related issues where sleeping could cause a time dilation as determined by the observer relative to the phone's clock and real-world time. This could affect things like trash spawning and moonshine fermentation progress. -Bucket content visuals should now save properly. -Fixed an issue with 2x moonshine crates generated when filling crates. -Fixed an issue with moonshine distillery audio not stopping after cooldown. -Added a place to dump moonshine bucket contents(blue barrel behind garage) -Fixed new issue of sugar being added twice to bucket. -Fixed moonshine crates not despawning after being sold. -Propane tanks bought from the gas station should no longer have a ridiculously small amount of gas. -Overhauled moonshine production: A higher quality should now be much easier to obtain. One bucket will yield about four crates of moonshine. -Various fixes and changes to audio and visual issues within the immediate area. -Fixed issue where you can pick up moonshine crate after selling it. -Fixed an issue where buckets would have a delay in fermenting after loading.
Tobacco Farming: -Fixed an issue where one crate could hold a massive amount of tobacco leaves and sell for an inflated price. -Addressed an issue where the water trailer could get pushed to a new location after spawning(also further addressed today on 9/2). -Fixed issue where tobacco plants can continue to be harvested after already being harvested. -Fixed another issue where tobacco leaves would spawn through the ground. -Fixed another issue where tobacco leaves could not be placed into crates. -Fixed an issue with tobacco leaves sometimes falling through the ground.
Quality of Life: -Redesigned engine assembly to feel less cumbersome. -Added support for inverting X and/or Y axis for the first person view(Request). -Increased hydration rate when drinking from faucet. -Changed attach/detach icons to be more visible in highly lit areas. -Made faucets easier to use.
Jake: -Fixed an issue where Jake wouldn't buy moonshine without saving first(mentioned above). -Tires now despawn after delivering to Jake. -Jake's revenge mission should now be marked as completed after completing it. -Revenge mission car only appears at night(possibly still broken in certain scenarios). -Fixed an issue where Jake would speak multiple dialogues at once. -Fixed an issue with the sugar/gas tank mission being unable to accept sugar. -Fixed an issue where Jake would sometimes not pay for furniture delivery.
Audio: -Additional voicework(Credit: youtube.com/c/SkapeGote) -Fixed an issue where turbo spooling could still be heard when using a non-turbo v8. -Fixed some audio issues with rain. -Updated some problematic background audio.
Truck/Car Changes: -Increased brake torque distribution to apply more braking to rear wheels and less to front. -Prevented differential gears from being overlapped. -Addressed an issue where the truck's ignition could become out of sync if transporting a hydrolocked truck without turning off the ignition first. -Fixed car's water trails not disappearing after towing out of water. -Addressed many scenarios with transporting vehicles which are still running or are still in the ON position in the ignition, which was the cause of several other issues. -Fixed an issue where rear differential gears were saving improperly. -Fixed a physics problem with truck after transporting nuclear bomb. -Fixed some issues with water splash effects remaining on tires.
Other: -Fixed an issue where if you manage to fall out of the world it will move you back to close to where you fell. -Jimmy Junks now recognizes and fixes cam gears. -Fixed an issue where Jimmy Junks' repairs wouldn't update the rust visuals on parts. -Additional work to water trailer having positional problems when loading, resulting in physics errors. Trailer should also flip itself right side up if saved upside down. -Fixed an issue where you couldn't sit in the truck if the engine was missing. -Addressed an issue where Jimmy Junks' repair cost could be cropped out of the frame. -Fixed an issue where Jimmy Junks wouldn't install center distributor wire. -Minor fixes to mission interface. -Updated mission waypoint on/off button to be more intuitive. -Iron ore chunk sizes are randomized, which affects weight and trade-in value. -A couple more spray paint colors(Request) -Reduced junk spawn frequency. -Fixed issue with iron ore scale not properly reading or paying out the correct values for iron ore. -Blocked off truck from driving into recycle zone at junkyard. -Fixed an issue where completed missions could be added multiple times to list. -Fixed an issue where large items could be carried while carrying smaller parts. -Fixed an issue with piston 1 having an issue of saving improperly. -Addressed an issue with some waypoints not disappearing after completing quest. -Fixed an issue where you could pick up multiples of the same item. -Fixed an issue where picked up items show up in inventory before placing them in the inventory, which caused an issue with dropping nonexistent inventory items to create new items. -Fixed an issue where rims could sometimes be put onto tires that already had a rim. -Fixed an issue where tires could sometimes be put onto wheels that already had a tire. -Fixed an issue where the engine block could get picked up while trying to attach a part. -Fixed an issue where multiple objects could be held at the same time. -Fixed an issue where an object could become stuck in the player's hand. -Fixed another issue where the valve assembly could become difficult to remove. -Improved shadow quality. -Additional GPU optimization work. -Stats UI should now scale properly with larger screen resolutions. -Lowered default quality settings when first launching the game. -Patched some holes in the terrain where the player could get stuck.
Dev Note: Although marked as fixed, there are probably still some scenarios where one or more of these issues could happen again. This early access game has been pretty rough around the edges, however the more positive aspect in this story comes from how unbelievably helpful the community has been in regards to reporting issues, offering good ideas, and helping in the discord. I'll be working on this project every day, getting things fixed and working on further optimization. I think this month I'll be able to release a small content update which I've been wanting to do for a while.
As for the modding community, sit tight, I'd like to help you out once I address all of the pressing issues with the core game.
Thanks, Keystone

On a more fun note, once the all of these remaining issues are resolved(which hopefully won't take too long), I can move onto more fun things, like more trails, more parts, and multiplayer. You know, stuff which will generate more bug reports. I'll show you the multiplayer prototype in another announcement.
Optimization is an ongoing task which will continue to be addressed in stages.
Thanks, Keystone
End of Week Patch Notes
This has been an interesting first week of early access with a lot of helpful reports from the community. Rather than burdening you with constant announcements, I'll compile all changes into one big list and announce that instead. You can find a more recent list of updates within the game's Update tab.
Fixes(7/27 - 8/2): -Fixed an issue where the truck's oil light could get stuck in the ON position. -Increased refresh rate of HUD stats. -Fixed an issue where movement speed was not affected by player stats. -Fixed a bug where certain aftermarket parts could be installed over the top of other parts. -Fix to Jake's furniture mission not getting accepted under certain scenarios. -Disabled the ability to recycle Jake's furniture. -! Fixed an issue where the v8 block could break and cause a savegame corruption which could remove many of the player's items and progress. -Center pistons should now be easier to remove. -Fixed an issue where the carburetor could get stuck and refuse to detach. -Fix to oil drain bolt sometimes not rendering on v8. -Fix to air filter not getting saved properly. This was causing check engine lights in the v8. Replace your air filter i you still have this issue. -Fixes to mission indexing and fix to junkyard wheels not being present if Jake's quest was saved and exited mid-quest. -GPU optimization update. -! Fixed an ongoing cash issue where adding money to a full inventory would count it toward the HUD's currency total without actually adding it, resulting in inflated money totals, and sometimes losing the excess cash. If your inventory is full, it will top off all stacks and leave you with a lose money roll which has the difference. If you are unable to add any more money, check to see if your inventory is full (TAB). -Changed sugar and cornmeal labels to show weight -Created a check to relocate anything that fell out of the map and didn't get respawned at the lost and found. -Fixed an issue where email terminal wasn't updating. -Fixed issue with trash bags not spawning. -Removed some fallen trees which were causing problems. -Removed the garage door temporarily. A new one will be installed soon. -Fixed issue where mud was not properly accumulating on truck body. -Addressed an issue with distillery producing too much moonshine. -Removed a bugged waypoint for an inactive mission. -Fixed an issue where engines saved on the engine stand would appear away from where they were supposed to. -Fixed an issue where loose engine blocks would jolt themselves in a random direction upon loading a game. -Changes to shadow rendering. -Complete overhaul of inventory system. -Fixed V8 oil pan's attachment issue. -Reduced the maximum amount of trash bags that could spawn in town. -Reduce amount of junk that can stay on the map at one time. -V8 is now less jiggly. Both engines are now less prone to shifting around in the engine bay while driving. -Increased grip strength on picking up items. -Increased throwing power [R] -Tobacco plants should now show hydration/growth stats. -Fixed issue where NPCs wouldn't interact with the player if you had the ReturnAce or Reversed Dragon mission in your mission list. -Jiggs Casey's missions should now get removed from the active missions list after completing. -Fix to v8 alternator floating away. -Jerry can now starts with some fuel in it. -Fix to issues with player movement trouble after towing. -Fix to Jake's questline not completing in the mission menu. Talking to Jake will mark it as complete. -Small graphical updates. -Fixed an issue where jumping into a moving vehicle could misalign your seating position. -Fixed dust emitters on wheels. -Changed the timing of items being picked up/let go to avid accidentally dropping things. -Center cam bearings should now be easier to remove. -Increased size of junk detection area when recycling at junkyard. -Jerry can was too big to safely be stored in inventory and was causing inventory issues. -Adjustments and improvements to truck and car headlights. -Oil pan should now be easier to remove. -Changed truck base texture to allow a completely clean paint job. -Various terrain fixes. -Fix to garbage bags causing inventory issues. -Changes to help scale some ui elements on 4k monitors
Thank you for all of your reports. I've spoken to hundreds of you on discord this last week, and this community has been unbelievably helpful. While many above issues above have been completely fixed, some of them might require additional attention. This will all happen as quickly as I can manage.
