New Year's Update

Happy New Year everyone! With January now in full swing, we wanted to update you all on what we’re working on now and in the months to come.

For those of you who picked up the XL Edition, or for anyone interested in the Air, Land and Sea Expansion Pass we announced earlier last year, we’ve got some exciting news for you all. Whilst one side of the studio is working on patches, fixes and optimisations for the game, which will continue to roll out over the coming weeks, the other side is busily bringing this additional content to life. The first pack – ‘Sky Fortress’ which is the “Air” pack, is nearing completion, and will bring new missions, features and other exciting surprises to the skies of Medici. We’re play testing this content right now so watch this space for more news on this very soon.

On top of this, we’ve got a small release of additional weapons and vehicles landing across Steam, PSN & Xbox stores today. This isn’t strictly new stuff – all of this content was previously available as part of our pre-order programmes, so for the early adopters out there you may already have most of these items. However, if there’s any particular pre-order incentives you missed out on that you want to pick up, you can now do so. Check out the store pages for more info.

For those of you that are still having some issues with your game, rest assured that we’re working on optimisations, bug fixes, performance enhancements and improvements, and we’ll continue to roll these out as soon as they’re ready, with the next patch expected later in the month. We’re doing everything we can to get to the bottom of all the issues that are reported to us.

If you do encounter any crashes and tech issues, please contact our Customer Support website, where we also have an FAQ:

EU: http://support.eu.square-enix.com/faqtop.php?id=12481&la=2
NA: http://support.na.square-enix.com/

When you do get in touch let us know the time and date of crash, dxdiag, etc., as well as the specs of your setups – the more info you can give us the better!

Thanks for your continued support – we hope 2016 is a great year for everyone.

Patch 1.021 Now Live on PC!

Hot on the heels of last week’s game update, we’re bringing you another patch specifically tailored to deal with a pressing PC issue.

With the 1.021 patch ( 99 MB ), you can expect:

  • Improved Stability When Exiting To Desktop
  • Improved Memory Management

Improved Stability When Exiting To Desktop
As some of you will be aware, there was an issue that would sometimes cause the game to crash when exiting to desktop. The cause of this issue has been identified and addressed with this update.

Improved Memory Management
In addition to fixing the exit to desktop crash, this update also improves Just Cause 3’s memory management across a variety of hardware configurations. Some systems will feel this beneficial impact more than others.

We will continue to work towards introducing more performance improvements in the future, if you didn’t see an improvement today, you may well see benefits from some of the optimizations we’re working on at the moment.

Our continued thanks go out to you all for your perseverance in helping us to track down and crush bugs found within the game. Those of you still experiencing issues, fear not, we’re working on further improvements and updates to bring to Just Cause 3.

If you are still encountering any issues following the patch, please contact our support departments in Europe of North America.

Patch 1.02 Now Live on PC!

Hi all,

I'm pleased to let you know that the 1.02 patch we announced earlier today is now live, ahead of the anticipated Friday date.

In the 1.02 patch (132.1MB), you can expect:

  • Significantly improved loading times
  • Optimizations to online stats
  • General stability fixes
  • Fixed an issue related to challenges, wherein vehicles sometimes disappeared when starting a challenge
  • Fixed issues related to screen resizing and closing the game window before the game has fully started up

To those of you still having issues, rest assured we are working hard to alleviate these, and are listening very closely to everything that’s being said.

While the patch will improve performance on the whole, we’ve listened to some of the other concerns raised about the game and put together a little list of points which might alleviate these issues:

UNSKIPPABLE CUTSCENES
You can skip cutscenes, in fact – all you need to do is hold B on your gamepad, or hit ‘Skip’ from the pause menu.

NO SPRINT BUTTON
This isn’t an oversight; it’s very much intended. Our designer’s intent was to encourage you to use Rico’s unique grapple to move around Medici far quicker than his legs would allow, as well as giving you the ability to traverse vertically.

NO CROUCH
Rico doesn’t hide. Getting him up in the air is our version of the cover mechanic. Rico is far more deadly in the skies, than pinned behind a container on the ground.

FINDING THE LAST CHAOS OBJECT
While there’s no mini-map to help you liberate bases and towns, you can always bring up your map to help find Chaos objects. When you’re down to the last few objects in any given settlement, an approximate location for these will be displayed on the map.

For more hints and tips for improving your experience and really getting the most out of the game, check out our Hints and Tips thread, and feel free to add your own.

Again, a huge thanks for your support over the past week, and look out for more news soon. If there’s any changes to the patch between now and Friday, we’ll let you know here.
