Ypdate 1.0.1 Now Live!



The first update 1.0.1 is now live! This patch concentrates on fixing the reported issues and any inconveniences with easy enough fix. As we get these out of the way, we'll start looking at adding new content (levels, etc).

Overall the game has been received very well. At the moment it looks like this could be our best ranking shooter in Metacritic with combined score for 7 reviews across platform being still over 80 - which is very hard to pull off these days. We'll see where it lands as we get more reviews, but so far so good!

However, one recurring complaint we had was regarding Mission Medal Limits. We agreed some of the Act 3 and 4 limits were a tad too high, so we slightly lowered most of them. Those who were able to get the medals before are welcome to feel superior. The achievements are not affected here, so anyone being able to get all of those is still one badass gamer.

Anyway, knowing that this medal limit tweak is probably not enough for everyone, but on the other hand not wanting to spoil the experience for the huge majority, we ALSO added sort of a cheat button / easy mode for those who just want to progress through the game faster. It's available in Gameplay Options screen and comes with a warning message. We definitely don't recommend using it, but in the end, JYDGE for yourself. :)

  • Rebalanced medal limits for Act 3 and Act 4 missions.
  • Added Low Mission Medal Limits option to Gameplay Options menu.
  • Added Retry button to SENTENCE EXECYTED screen (available after you've completed a couple of missions).
  • Properly triggering Good Ending outro after finishing the last missing on the right conditions.
  • Laser projectiles move a faster and have longer trail.
  • Gavel intro lighting fixed in 4k resolutions.
  • Framerate improvements (especially during mission intro).
  • Language fixes.
  • Gemine high score limit now 54321 (entry to Secret Area).
  • Gembine wasd controls.
  • Sorting Display Options resolutions list by px width and height.
  • Mac and Linux: added localizations.
  • Mac: macOS High Sierra fixes.
  • Mac: more full screen resolutions show up in Display options.


Steam should update the game automatically, but sometimes restarting Steam helps trigger the update too.

Let me know if something is broken and we'll fix ASAP (or roll back the old version if flaws are fatal).

Trading Cards Coming!



Just a quick update regarding Trading Cards, Emoticons, and backgrounds as many people have been asking about these. Long story short: we'll be adding all that stuff later this week. Edit: or rather as soon as we can - the badges you see on the header image failed the review and we need to make new ones.

Also JYDGE version 1.0.1 is also almost ready. It's been on the beta branch (*) for a few days now as it has developed, but we're planning on setting it as the official build maybe tomorrow or the day after. It should fix most bugs and complaints we've received so far!

I'm not sure you know how big a relief it has been to see ppl enjoying JYDGING. To be honest, the overall positiveness so far has way exceeded our expectations.

However, like a certain Edenbyrg chief of police once stated (with perfect voice acting skills): there is still more work to be done.

First we're going to fix any urgent issues and technical problems (luckily there hasn't been that many):

-The Mac version. It seems the latest version of macOS (High Sierra) is having problems with the game when used with retina displays (external non-retina displays seem to be unaffected). The issues can be usually worked around by adjusting the display scale in System Preferences or toggling windowed/fullscreen by pressing command+f a couple of times. We've almost fixed the issues, but need to check it works on all supported macOS versions. We will also add full screen rendering resolution option while at it.

-Localizations fixes. It seems especially Chinese localization needs more work. We've sent the texts back to the translation service we used (no, it's not Google Translate), and are waiting for them to provide us new revisions. This is rather awkward as we don't know Chinese, and are unable to validate the texts. Nor to communicate this with those who have left negative review because of this :(. So if anyone who knows Chinese can help further here, it'd be great to hear what parts of the texts need more work!

-Balancing. Like always, there's some things we'd like to tweak based on feedback. Surprisingly there's nothing major, but small things here and there. Changes will be listed inside the game when they're live.

After we've fixed the most critical issues, we'll start looking at potential new features 'n stuff.

So... what do you think should be added / tweaked?

Edit: New update beta is now available in branch "beta". We'll keep developing and updating that and will move it to the default version when it's stable enough. The changes can be seen in the Change List (the [ i ] button in main menu). If this version doesn't work for some reason, you can always go back to the official branch.

JYDGE in Chinese, Russian, German, and more



We've been considering doing this for ages. Happy to announce that JYDGE will be available in English, Chinese, Russian, German, French, and Spanish right at launch! (And maybe even more languages.)

We've never done this at launch, but what could go wrong?
