Release Announcement

Kargo releases in less than three days: 8th December 2022 at 17:00 UTC to be exact.

Thank you all for your patience and for sticking around. I'm very excited for the launch.

In the meantime, check out the new release trailer, try the demo and, if you haven't already, wishlist now!

Demo Update (Version 0.5.0) and Roadmap

First off: You probably noticed that the full game hasn't been released yet. The reason I had to postpone is that I'm still not completely satisfied with the current state. I think there is still room for new levels, fun game mechanics and better graphics, sound effects and animations. You deserve a polished game that provides a fun and challenging experience!

In the meantime, I'm trying to continuously upload new demo versions. These should provide a vertical slice of what the final game will have to offer. I see it as a way of providing early access builds, completely free of charge. If you give me feedback in the Steam Forums, I will do my best to improve the game.

Here is a list of highlights since the last release:

  • Added cannons and bullets (this should make differentiating between opening and closing barriers easier)
  • Added new static level elements for decoration and fun
  • Improved barrier logic (fixes a bug where a player would get stuck in the gate)
  • Improved level selection menu and other UI aspects
  • Updated demo levels (currently includes 10 levels)
  • Added support for Steam Input API (with controller glyphs and everything)
  • Added support for Auto Steam Cloud (so your progress is synchronized across devices)
  • Initial support for achievements and leaderboards (not included in the demo)

Now I need to fix some more bugs!

Demo for Steam Next Fest

The last couple of weeks have been filled with lots of bug fixing, designing new levels and improving game mechanics. Today I'm proud to release a shiny new demo for Windows, Linux and macOS. I hope you enjoy playing it.

The demo includes a total of 11 levels. Starting with an introduction to basic navigation and the game mechanics. Then you will have to solve some puzzles by figuring out how to deliver your cargo. The last two racing levels will test your reflexes and navigation skills. Try to finish them as fast as possible.

There is still a lot to come! This demo should deliver the general vibe of the game but there are a lot more features planned for the full release in September:

  • Many more puzzle and racing levels
  • Ability to store multiple cargo items
  • Integration with Steamworks API: Achievements, Leaderboards, Cloud Saves, Steam Input
  • Improved sound effects and more music
  • Enhanced visual effects
  • And a lot more...

I hope you are as excited as I am for the full release in September. Be sure to let me know what you think in the comments.
