WATCH: Karisvale Interview by The Indie Backlog Club

Hey Investigators,

Long time no speak! How are the kids? I was recently invited by three hilarious and charismatic women to speak with them on their podcast, The Indie Backlog Club, about my work on Karisvale! Got any burning questions about Karisvale lore or what's next for the game? They're probably answered!

Karisvale also recently hit 5k players... whaa!? This is so remarkable and I am so grateful to every one who has played it (especially if you left a review, you lot are my favorite). Please continue to share the word about Karisvale so we can keep blowing people's minds with the ending! Also, I may or may not have no marketing budget. Who's to say.

Until I can think of anything else worth announcing,

Best,
Brendan Tighe, Game Director

Patch 7/9/22

Fixed collision in the maze that caused players to get stuck on the bushes. A controller fix for the ending level is on its way!

Karisvale Featured in USC Games Expo & Watch Developer Commentary/Playthrough

Hey Investigators,

Karisvale will be featured in the upcoming USC Games Expo on May 12th! Yours truly is studying game design at USC and the expo showcases all of the amazing student projects that were released this year. Witness the forefront of indie development and play all the super cool games!

Learn more here.

I've also whipped up a little 10-minute playthrough of my baby, Karisvale, so I could get the chance to talk through some of my design choices and inspirations.

Thank you all for playing Karisvale and joining me on this wild ride. A few things are baking in the oven right now and I can't wait to share what's next for me in game design to anyone who's willing to listen.

Karisvale Patch Notes 4/7/21

Hey Investigators,

Thank you all so much for playing my game. I just pushed a new update for Karisvale that includes the following:

  • Reduced file size (down from 1.5GB to 833 MB)
  • Dungeon lever no longer freezes player and forces restart
  • Mac users should no longer be stuck on a black screen after speaking with the Lost Man (let me know if this still persists)
  • Grammatical fixes
  • New portrait for Echo (that's actually Echo irl)

Please leave a review on Steam if you haven't because that is how Steam will know to promote my game to new players. Thank you all for your kind words and reviews.

Best,
Brendan ːsteamhappyː

Karisvale is Back Online, Itch.io Release & Upcoming Patch Notes

Hey Investigators,

After being down for 2 days, Karisvale is back online and available to play.

I'm new to developing on Steam and I hope this wasn't too much of an inconvenience to anyone who was looking forward to solving the mystery of Karisvale this weekend.

Karisvale is also now available to download on Itch.io! (PC only). View it here.

Karisvale will also receive an update this week. So far, it will include the following:

  • Minor bug fixes and additional polishing
  • Various graphical improvements to cutscenes
  • Increased visibility of text
  • New character artwork for Echo the Shiba
  • Anything else that you suggest!

I only hope that being down this weekend wasn't too much of a hit to the game's success. Please be sure to leave a Steam review and share the word with your friends, Discord servers, etc. I need your help to share Karisvale with the world!

Until I think of anything else worth announcing,

Karisvale is Down

Hey Investigators,

I regret to inform you that after I was trying to solve an issue with the Fan Pack, Karisvale is now unable to be downloaded after an accident occurred. I've contacted Steam Support for them to fix this and hopefully they can get back to me before Monday.

If you downloaded the game without a Steam Key, then Karisvale will, unfortunately, be unavailable for you to play. Please bear with me while this issue is being resolved.

In the meantime, I recommend the game Left on Read for a quick gaming session.

Best,
Brendan Tighe, Game Director

Karisvale is Now Available!

Hey Investigators,

It is with great pleasure that I announce the official release of Karisvale! Play it now, tell your friends, write reviews, get the achievements, figure out the story!!! Releasing Karisvale has been a dream of mine for the past year since I started working on it. I can't thank you enough for taking the time to play my creation.

If you encounter any bugs or just want to share your thoughts, please email me at brendan@karisvale.com or create a post in the community. I check both regularly so I will get back to you in a split.

Please consider leaving a review after you play. That's how Steam can know my game is worth promoting in their store.

Until I think of anything else worth announcing,

Brendan Tighe, Game Director

Play Karisvale April 1st.

Hey Detectives,

Karisvale will launch at 12pm PST on 4/1/2022

Karisvale is finally finished! (mostly...) I'm pushing the release back 1 week than originally planned because otherwise, I would've been crunching until the very second it releases. This week I will be sending out Steam Keys to reviewers, press, friends, and family.

If you would like to contribute a review for Karisvale's launch, please reach out to me at brendan@karisvale.com and I would be happy to send you a key.

I can't believe the day is approaching. I am beyond stoked to share my passion project with the world and there is a large chance I will be tearing up watching playthroughs on YouTube (very manly tears, of course). If you make Karisvale content, I guarantee I will see it.

Time to get back to work.

Sincerely,
Brendan Tighe
