Dev Blog: Onward to 2024!
Hello Racers,
We launched the Preseason in January earlier this year, and KartRider: Drift is now approaching its one-year anniversary.
We've received a lot of feedback from our Racers since the Preseason began, and as we look back over the past year, there were a fair share of regrets along the way. However, we are still working hard to develop KartRider: Drift with the hope that we can improve, and we thank our Racers who have been enjoying the game and providing loving criticism and support all year long.
We've gone back to the drawing board and thought hard about why you, our Racers, enjoy the KartRider games, and we're working to incorporate our learnings into the next patch. We apologize to those players that have been expecting one, but, we won't be releasing a mid-season patch for Season 5. We are putting all of our focus on preparing for the big changes coming in the new year.
To give you a taste of what's to come next year, we'll keep you updated on the development progress in small doses with new content “sneak peeks” while we're hard at work preparing the next update.
We'll do our best to keep things fun until the next patch, and we hope that you have an amazing rest of 2023, and wish you all the best in the new year!

Sneak Preview: Character Skills
As we mentioned in the December 14 Dev Blog, we're preparing a number of changes for 2024 to help our Racers enjoy a more diverse and exciting Item Mode. Today, we'd like to introduce the new "Character Skills" and share how these skills will look in-game.
Character Skills
Each character will have a unique skill that fits their concept, personality, and style. Character Skills will only be available to use in Item Mode, and there will be two skill types: Active and Passive. Below are some examples.
(Note: The below descriptions are examples only, and may be subject to change as development continues.)
- Passive Skill Example:
- Brian: Boost your Kart's Speed and deploy a Barricade whenever you use a Siren item.
- Active Skill Example:
- Brodi: Install a Boost Zone on the track.
