Fix fruit not inheriting the rotation velocity imparted by the sword when slicing slowly. This was causing some visual stuttering. Slow slicing should seem a bit smoother now in general.
Update video player plugin to fix rare crashes when 3rd party video codecs are installed (ffdshow, etc).
Bug Patch
Fix a bug where some training puzzles with bombs would not reset correctly.
Fix a bug where right-to-left slices in Tatami mats were not calculating perfect slices correctly.
Fix a bug where slowly slicing multiple fruit close together resulted in funky physics occasionally. Slow slices of lines of fruit should seem smoother now.
Allow two swords to be accessed in free play mode (by raising the sword stand manually).
Patch / Score Reset
This patch contains the following changes:
Fruit rotations are now aligned more carefully for most patterns to help normalize the difficulty of slicing bananas and kiwis. It should be much easier to get combos containing these fruit now.
Fix a bug in Tatami mode where slicing boundaries on detached mat parts could increase your score.
Sword stand can now be customized to three different positions using buttons on the platform (right, left, and back), and the position will be remembered between game launches.
Added a new music track. You can now switch between "intense" and "calm" music tracks in sound settings. Default is "intense".
Sword collisions (i.e. failed slices) on fruit will now resist the sword more, so watermelons should "feel" heavier than other fruit.
Fix for perfect slice notification showing up in menu.
Minor improvements to some animation effects - bomb sparks fade out cleanly now, and menu scrolls will fade in cleaner.
As there have been a few changes recently that effect difficulty and scoring, the scoreboards have been reset.
Patch
Today's patch includes the following changes:
The sword stand has been moved to the right side of the player, and will also automatically retract into the ground during play mode. These changes should improve the experience overall for people that wanted to play farther back but felt crowded by the sword stand, and also make it easier to interact with the sword stand for people with 180 degree tracking setups.
Bomb explosions will no longer affect fruit trajectory that are mid spawn warp. This helps keep the flow of the game moving better after a bomb hit and makes a bit more visual sense.
An extra penalty notification (i.e -X) now occurs when hitting a bomb or Tatami boundary that indicates how many points were "rewound" on top of the normal penalty. There is a short time window after obtaining points where if a penalty object is hit, these points will be reverted. This is to prevent "suiciding" on a combo that has higher bonus than the bomb or boundary penalty. The score rewinding has been in place for some time, but previously there was no notification to indicate this was happening.
Tweak to combo notifications to help prevent them overlapping each other.
Fruit Slicing Patch
Today's patch adds automatic blade "stabilization" to fruit slices to prevent accidental fast controller rotation or translation that occurs mid slice from causing the fruit to "fly off" in an unintended direction.
New Fruit Patch!
Today's patch includes the following changes:
Added a banana fruit by popular request. However, bananas are harder to slice in certain configurations due to their thin shape. A future patch will introduce more curated rotation angles to help with consistency of slice difficulty.
Added a pear fruit.
Fix a collision accuracy bug that affected multiple slices of fruit and rarely could affect Tatami mats.
Tweak fruit shaders to be more efficient and reduce visibility of seams for wedged fruit.
Tweak the min/max sizes of some fruit a bit.
Bug Patch
Welcome to Katana X! This is the first patch, which includes the following fixes:
<*>Fix for partial slices of Tatami mats occasionally causing bad frame rate.
<*>Fix a stability issue for multiple partial cuts of Tatami mats. You can still break the mat with too many slices, but it should be more difficult now. There will be more stability fixes coming in the future, as there are a few known edge cases that aren't covered yet.
<*>Re-centering the play area (via the main menu) will now persist between game sessions.
<*>Minor polish: Score fans are no longer visible in slice menu and fruit training, as they aren't used in these modes.
<*>Minor polish: Failure penalty for Tatami mat no longer displays for menu mats.
