Update 8 includes another great suggestion from our players - you can now buy back items sold to pawnshops. If you find a powerful weapon early in the game before your stats are high enough to make good use of it, sell it and come back for it when Kim is older. We've introduced a new way to earn money, it's less glamorous than the Allahabad Pioneer but working in the kitchen of Ferozepore’s barracks does have some (edible) perks! If that doesn't appeal, you might now be able to convince the lama to teach you how to draw the Wheel of Life! We’ve also been polishing the game’s art, keep an eye out for characters’ shadows, the pleasingly curvy travel line and zooming in on photos!

Update #7: Tread the Boards
Update 7 is here and the high and mighty of Simla await you at their cherished Amateur Dramatic Society! They always need stagehands and sometimes more. Since we completed our scoring system last update, it was time to add leaderboards, which you can now view in game. There’s a separate set for scores recorded with Permadeath on! To encourage players to use different items, we’ve added a new set of ‘bargain’ events, which spawn a character, who is selling an item at half price. If you don’t have enough money, they will be waiting for you when you come back, just don’t make any rash decisions in pursuit of a few extra rupees! Update #6: Wealth and Weather
For our 6th update, we've overhauled the weather system making it more realistic and adding different intensities of rain up to thunder and lightning. We've also adjusted the scoring calculations adding a new category, Wealth, and doubling the effect of Merit so expect a new personal best in your next playthrough. Exposed modifiers in the travel panels mean you can judge which items you can and cannot do without next time you're planning a journey to some far flung desert stronghold and the addition of bullet effects on guns will help you work out who is shooting at you when you get there! Update #5: Thugs and Lighting
Update 5 brings a new danger to the quieter corners of colonial India. Borrowed from the pages of history (and repurposed in modern parlance), Thugs are members of a secret society sworn to rob and kill defenseless travellers in service of their goddess Kali. Thankfully, the suffocating embrace of your colonial overlords comes with some perks. Notices about Thug activity will be at letter writers around India so you will hopefully be able to avoid them...unless you have other ideas. We’ve added a snazzy new map feature, which displays all the buildings in each town so you can better plan your journeys. We’ve also overhauled the lighting system and polished every light in the game so nighttime has never looked so pretty. Welcome to Update 4! It’s focused on making Kim’s user interface both easier to use and more informative. Ever wondered what determines an item’s price? Now you can click on it to see its modifiers and understand when and where to get the best deals! We’ve also made other characters’ opinion of you more important, added more ways to affect this in conversations and created a new scoring category so if you want to misbehave, don’t let too many people see! Update #3: Endless Mode
Update 3 brings lots of polish and some new content to improve the latter stages of your playthroughs. What's more, when Kim turns 18, you will now have the option to continue playing. Your score won't change anymore but you can finish anything you're in the middle of and perhaps discover some late-game secrets! We've also made significant balance changes to make decisions about how you travel more interesting and reduce how often you need to eat (food is also more expensive). Overall, we've aimed to keep the difficulty about the same, we'd welcome feedback on what you find challenging and in particular, if anything feels unfair - let us know in the forums!

Update #2: Combat Encounters
Our second update is live! Combat encounters are the biggest addition but there are a host of smaller changes to polish the game and fix bugs. We’ve been taking inspiration from your feedback, in particular one suggestion that the game needed more opportunities to acquire and use weapons. Combat encounters provide both but if you don’t want to participate in such earthly shenanigans, you won’t have to and what’s more, the lama will approve! We’ve designed the encounters to echo Kipling's accounts of the trials and tribulations of his countrymen so if you do want to get caught up in this sort of thing, remember that while the towns and the heartland of British India are relatively orderly, the hinterlands are less so!

Update #1: Fixes and Feedback
Hello! First off, thank you to everyone who has played Kim and helped spread the word especially anyone who has shared their feedback, which has been really useful. This update includes some changes and features suggested by you! We've also fixed a lot of bugs and continued to polish the game.
