We are very excited to make this special announcement. We are a small team of gamers that love making co-op games and our first one was Kings and Heroes. As many of you will remember, the scope of that game was too large and the server costs too high, so we ultimately had to discontinue it. We took what many players told us they liked most about that game, the dungeons, and created a new more focused game called Dungeons of Sundaria. It is a stand-alone multiplayer game that operates peer to peer, so it doesn’t suffer from any of the cost issues we had with KNH. This game was a labor of love and as a sign of appreciation for all those who played our prior game and gave us the wonderful suggestions to make this game, we’ve given each person who owned Kings and Heroes a FREE copy of Dungeons of Sundaria. We’re sure you’ll feel the care we put into crafting the challenging and fun dungeons and the many systems it contains. Currently there are 4 dungeons, 5 classes and 5 races. We will be adding 4 more dungeons and 2 additional playable races in the coming months for a total of 8 dungeons! This new content will also be released for FREE to all those who have the game.

Kings and Heroes Finale

It’s with mixed emotions that we are announcing the discontinuation of the Kings and Heroes game servers as of June 30th. Kings and Heroes has run for the last three years. It was our first project as a studio and in retrospect there are lots of things we’d do differently. We’ve come a long way since then and we are currently working on a follow-up game that will take the best of what we learned from KnH and have many major improvements. We love the fantasy genre and intend to center around the dungeon aspects that many of you thought was so fun. We sincerely appreciate your support and patience throughout the years, and we hope you’ll give our new games a shot.

Overview



Hello All,

This morning we patched a hotfix to some crafting and quest items.

[H1]Gameplay
• Fixed an issue causing block value on shields not to work, all shields should display their correct block value
• Orbs have been adjusted to have Spell Power and Spell Critical Damage
• Greatly increased the drop rate of the Werium Bar recipe from the Deep Dwarves
• Fixed an issue with the Corrupted Spirit quest that prevented players from completing it.
• Enchanter Girubelyn now sells Enchanted Powder, used in crafting Enchanted Thread
• Fixed an issue in Tomb of the Kings that would not spawn the correct key to open the lower gate

King's and Heroes Update 1

Good Evening,

We are happy to bring you the next update for Kings and Heroes. Thanks for playing!

Performance



• Fixed an issue causing some quest NPCs to not respawn
• Fixed an issue causing the moon to be hidden
• Fixed grouping, chat, rim shader and map issues with Tomb of the Kings
• Fixed an issue that limited NPC spawn variation in the world, NPC’s will now have greater variety in the world upon spawn/respawn
• Fixed an issue with minimap scaling
• Improved interactive object tracing

Gameplay



• Removed Difficulty restrictions on the Lair of the Damned, The Catacombs of Death and the Crypt of the Spider
• Fixed several quests that had erroneous or incomplete links
• Fixed quest text on several quests to be more explicit in the objectives
• Werewolves now exist in the world (in large numbers) and spawn mainly at night
• Players may now gain a quest to make Enchanted Thread from Girubelyn, the Enchanter in Everdale (usable by Tailors, Armorsmiths and Leathersmiths)
• The Feyris will now have a chance to drop void essense and Neomian cloth. It is rumored a Dark Enchanter of the Feyris holds the key to Enchanted Dark Leather.
• The Dusty Torch for the quest Cleansing the Kings Tomb is no longer found in the tomb, but given upon quest acceptance.
• Fixed issue with animations that would cause clipping on some NPC’s
• Fixed 2H direction animations
• Fixed an issue that caused Magic Resistance and Attack power to improperly scale with armor type (previously it would yield identical stats on all armor types). Players should see stats vary more with armor type to allow players greater customization in their gear.
• Fixed an issue that would cause block to reset an ability allowing an ability to be used faster than its animation cooldown
• Fixed an issue with items that would not stack should stack (Valor Sigils)
• Fixed issue with parry animation for 1H maces and 2H Staves.
• Improved NPC pathing in cave dungeons as well as the AI of some of the bosses.

Launch Day Update!

Exiting Steam Early Access



Greetings Kings and Heroes players,

We want to take this opportunity to thank you for your feedback and support throughout Early Access. It’s been about 3 years since we started Kings and Heroes and half of that time, we’ve been in Steam Early Access. Along the way, we have found a lot of great community members that have put in countless hours supporting our development with their time and feedback and we want to express our gratitude as it has been a fun and educational process where we have learned a lot.

We hope you continue to let us know what you like, love and dislike about the game so we can continue to tune it for you, the community. It’s exciting to today announce that Kings and Heroes is exiting Early Access and is now officially launched.

This doesn’t mean we are done working on the game, as Kings and Heroes is a living and breathing online world, and will continue to add content and update the game to support its growth.

We’re happy to announce the current content roadmap for the upcoming month. Here’s what we are adding first:
• Heroism System – Adding to allow players who have reached level 50 to specialize their characters even further with added abilities, bonuses and advancements
• Quest packs – Regular additions of new quest lines and creatures
• Linux Version
• Mac Version

We’ll be announcing more content updates as well, but today is a great day to get into the game and start playing. The game is much improved and we hope you have a lot of fun playing there.

Details from todays update:
[H1]Performance
• Optimized additional audio loading to asynchronous
• Adjust AI navigation walking to reduce jitter
• Fix behavior of loading screen selector, based on travel destination
• Improve detection of what killed another player when they are far away
• Fixed dungeon matchmaking
• Fixed group invitation spam from same player
[H1]Gameplay
• Reduced Health on all bosses on Normal and Advanced Difficulty. Hard will be a challenge for a solo player (bosses). We have a plan to revise difficulties further as needed. Nightmare and Insane will continue to require groups for the time being.
• Loot drop rates in chests have been increased/added. Players should be getting loot of some kind from most things in the game (NPC’s, chests, Bone Piles, etc)
• Rock Pile and Bone Pile loot in dungeons has been improved to provide player with items to progress through dungeons (especially on lower levels) such as Health Potions, etc.
• Fixed an issue that would cause the last Boss in the Defiled Crypt not to spawn
• Added loot to Vampire dungeon chests
• Loot on many bosses varies with difficulty selection.
• Fixed issue causing some foliage loot (herbs and ore) to not be Lootable. All herbs and ore are now found in the world
• Deep Dwarves in the World now drop Werium.
• Updated world map with town callouts (locations of districts and trainers) as well as world dungeons and other points of interest.
• Adjusted LOD distance to allow for smoother graphic transitions in the world.
[H1]Abilities
We have adjusted some base caster abilities that were a bit underpowered with the balance changes. In addition to that, keep in mind that Spells now take their primary modifier component (damage or healing) from the weapon damage on items. It now scales accordingly with the weapon you use as well as your spell power.
Mage
• Increased the damage of Fireball, Cone of Fire and Magic Missiles
Cleric
• Increased the damage of Smite

Patch 57 - Server Fix & Dungeons via the Inn




Hello All,

We Have found the issue causing server degradation (high pings & latency) and patched it early this morning. We also brought back the Dungeon tables in the Inn.

Performance


• Fixed issue that would cause server performance to degrade.
• Re-enabled random dungeon tables (The Defiled Crypt and the Wicked Caverns)
• Merged Merchant/Trainer/Quest UI
• Fix logging back into the game after a crash resulting in a partially controlled character
• Fixed first person mount animation
• Fixed sitting in chair when closing matchmaking UI

[H1]The Defiled Crypt & Wicked Caverns
This patch features the return of two older dungeons to the game. They can be accessed by sitting at the tables in the Everdale Inn. The Defiled Crypt is home to the Dark Moon Cult. The Dark Moon is a smaller cult aligned with the Black Death who look to bring an undead plague upon the world.

[H1]Gameplay
• Adjusted mount speed (faster) for most mounts. Fixed mounted animations to align with correct speed.
• Added NPC’s to several regions of the map that previously had none
• Fixed issues with weapon placement while mounted
• Adjusted first person mount animation
• Fixed issue where incorrect load screen would display
• Fixed issue where some NPC’s displayed incorrect names (friendly and enemy)
• Dungeon difficulty can now be set on the players Social tab (bottom middle of tab)

Patch 56 - Server Performance Update

Overview



Hello All,

We patched early this morning to fix several issues with server performance and content that was patched last Friday.

Performance


While we feel the improvements below will greatly improve performance, should we run into any further issues please let us know, as player experience (performance) is always at the top of our list to remedy.
• Optimized Performance to improve latency
• Optimized Character movement tick and aggro checks to further improve performance
• Fixed Crash related to Ogre NPC

[H1]Gameplay
• Fixed an issue with the Tomb of the King that would prevent players from proceeding past level 1.
• Added Exit portal near the final room in the Tomb of the King
• Fixed several dungeon issues with incorrect spawns
• Fixed global loot rule for parties, currently it will be set as Round Robin with additional options available in the future.
• Fixed loot in starter areas and dungeons to provide loot when players drop.
• Fixed loot Everdale Crypt and Tomb of the King (NPC’s should now drop loot). Caverns of Wild Loot fix will be in next patch.
• Loot in Rock Piles and Bone Piles upgraded
• Fixed issue where Lock Pick was not opening the correct level door in dungeons.
• Fixed issue where camera preference was not persistent.
• Lootable Foliage and Ore now present in all tiles
• Fixed issue where players would not see group members rim shader
• Fixed issue where several NPC’s had incorrect names.
