Major Update #3 - University and Research Tree, Army's Cost Rebalance
Greetings, My King!
Long time no see! When the Major Update #1 was released, we also published a Survey in the game, which heavily focused on the game's future development. One of the questions was about the new features that you would like to see the most in the game. The most popular answers were Technology Tree and Battle Visualizations as drawings in the letters.
We are extremely happy to announce that the Technology Tree is officially released today as a free update to the core game. The Battle Visualizations on the other hand will launch in a month as a small, optional DLC. Have fun and let us know what you think about those new additions!
Studies - Research Tree
A new University building has been added to the game. The University building unlocks the Research Tree (called Studies in the game). Each research takes time and requires a specific gold investment. Currently, there are 12 different researches, each with 3 upgrade levels:
Regiment Formation - recruitment limit +10/20/30% units during one cycle,
Siege Innovations - happiness removed during your sieges +5/10/15%,
Generalship - academy generals have stats increased by +1/2/3,
Spycraft - academy spies have stats increased by +1/2/3,
Effective Communication - messengers speed increased by +10/20/30%,
Patriotism - manpower growth +5/10/15%,
Command Expansion - generals limit +10/20/30%
Construction Techniques - construction, repair and upgrade time of buildings -5/10/15%,
Trade Routes - trade income +!0/20/30%.
Other Changes
The maintenance cost of the army has been significantly increased.
The diplomacy has been updated. Other countries should now be more open to agreeing to our requests, while they were too eager to reject all the offers previously.
The battle algorithms have been updated. The units (other than archers) will now focus more on attacking the units located in the first enemy line.
An issue that caused black screen at the start of the game has been fixed.
An issue with neutral/friendly countries immediately taking over "our" rebel regions after the player has defeated an enemy country has been fixed.
An issue with some countries bankrupting out of nowhere or displaying as rebel-controlled has been fixed.
Issues with the tutorial not working as intended have been fixed.
Some additional commentary about the increased maintenance army cost. Once recruited, the army previously had almost no cost and we wanted to make it an important part of an ongoing economy. Be careful, recruiting tens of thousands of units without proper economic backbone might result in bankruptcy.
Battle Visualizations
The Chronicles of Battle DLC is coming your way on April 4th, 2025. We hope that you will enjoy this addition to the game and decide to support further development of King's Orders. Add Chronicles of Battle to your wishlist on Steam to experience the battle visualizations at the launch date.
We hope that you will enjoy all the new content coming your way! Let us know what you think about the newest changes in the comments. We are reading them all and discussing internally. Thank you for playing King's Orders!

Major Update #2 - Reduced Time Speed, new Drag and Drop Feature
Greetings, My King!
A new Major Update #2 has just been published on the Default branch of the game. We continue listening to your feedback. This time we have reduced the base game time speed by 50% and added a new drag-and-drop feature for all the players, who want to navigate the game in an easier, faster manner. This should save you some "clicks" and allow for easier control over the game's pace.
Changelog:
The base game time speed has been decreased by 50%.
A new "x10" game speed button has been added for all the players who still want to play the game at the previous highest time speed.
New backers from the premium tiers of the Kickstarter campaign have been added to the in-game Credits.
A new pawn drag and drop feature has been added to the game. In order to enable the drag and the drop you have to click on the desired pawn and keep the LMB pressed for around 2 seconds. After that, you can:
Send the general to any point on the map or enemy structure, to move or attack the desired target,
Send the spy to any point on the map,
Send the armies from one capital to another.
Fixes:
An issue caused by the attempts to send a diplomatic letter to a rebel-controlled country has been fixed,
An issue with the "Robert Guiscard Returns from Lombardy" event has been fixed,
An issue with the HUD buttons not hiding when necessary has been fixed,
An issue with an incorrectly indicated country in the enemy spy report has been fixed,
An issue with the "Act at will" command, where the General didn't know which target to attack, has been fixed,
An issue with autosaves not working during the events has been fixed,
An issue with some countries displaying as belonging to the Rebel fraction after choosing the "Occupy" option during the event has been fixed.
What do you think about this newest update? How do you feel about the new Time Speed and the new Drag and Drop feature? We will be happy to read all about your experience in the comments. At the same time, considering that this will be the last update this year, we want to wish you a warm, wonderful Christmas and a happy New Year! Thank you for playing King's Orders throughout this year!

King's Orders has just released! Available now on Steam!
Greetings, My King!
King's Orders is now available on Steam! You can buy the game with a time-limited -10% launch discount. The game is also available in the bundles listed below. Enjoy the game!
We did our best to get rid of as many issues reported throughout the Closed Beta as possible. We are proud of all the work that has been put into the game, but we are aware that players are using vastly different setups and it's very hard to make the game 100% bug-free. That's why want to ask you to report your feedback to us:
via in-game Bug Reporter if you encounter any bugs,
via Survey in the Main Menu if you want to share some longer feedback about the game with us.
This approach will allow us to solve all the issues much faster and prepare the necessary changes for the upcoming updates in a timely manner.
A few gameplay tips
We want to share a few gameplay tips with you if you find the game challenging:
Play the Tutorial to get to know all the basic mechanics,
When choosing a Nation, look at the "Nation difficulty". Some countries are much stronger at the beginning, while others provide a real challenge.
When choosing a Nation, go to the "General Information" tab and check the Nation bonuses. Pick a Nation that resonates with you the most or focus on the bonuses that you find the strongest.
Adjust the "Game difficulty" to your liking. This parameter will make the battles easier or harder, depending on your needs.
Don't forget about the Economic buildings. Recruiting an army will be hard without sufficient resources.
Upgrade the buildings! The higher the level of your military building, the cheaper the recruitment of the units.
Don't forget about the Spies. While it's easy to overlook them, their potential is enormous.
Assign Stewards and automate some actions in your Kingdom. Enable the "Act at Will" order for your Generals if you want them to defend your borders on their own.
Remember - Information is the key. If your General doesn't react to your order, it's very likely that the message got intercepted.
And of course, what is most important - have fun! We hope that you will have as much fun with our game, as we had when developing it for the past few years. It was a great journey and we can't wait to see your reception. Let us know how you feel about the game in the comments. We are reading them all!
Best regards, King's Orders Team

King's Orders - Development Update 05.2024
Greetings, My King!
For the past few months, we have been working hard on the new update for King's Orders. After succeeding with the Kickstarter Campaign, it was important for us to ensure that the game was going in the right direction. We have decided to adjust several systems, to make the gameplay a little bit more dynamic. In our surveys, we have received feedback that it's hard to get out of complicated situations. We hope that with the recent changes, the ability to turn the game around will be present.
If you have access to the game, we will be thankful for playing through the game and letting us know how do you feel about the current state of King's Orders. Feel free to let us know in the comments or fill out the survey available in the Main Menu of the game.

The operation of fortifications has been changed - it is now possible to turn it on or off when writing an order. It has no duration (although there is preparation time) - it lasts until the fortifications are taken down. There is no one-time cost, but fortifications consume 25% of the fortified region's income.
The initial distribution of units between generals and cities has been changed, increasing the number of units in cities.
The victory conditions for playable countries in some scenarios have been updated.
The tutorial has been updated to match the rest of the changes and resolve issues that prevented it from being completed.

Moving through cities belonging to countries with which the player has signed an agreement on the passage of troops (military access) does not result in such a penalty.
The balance of the building used to recruit heavy units has been changed - it now has only one level and does not provide any bonuses to the cost and time of recruitment.
During the events, instead of percentages, the actual values of gold, population, and conscripts are now displayed.
The HUD, including information about the state budget, doesn't disappear anymore during the events.
