KOTCL Developer Diaries: Darker Elves, Tarot, and New Firebrothers
Knock-knock, travelers!
We’re opening a portal to the world of time magic! You’re going to see Tarot cards (but beware—the Emperor might end up right beneath Death!), new Firebrothers whose hearts are aflame with the thirst for battle, and a legendary swordsman elf who has long been looking for a worthy opponent.
So get ready for new characters and new mechanics! Fateful magic has seeped into Midian and crystallized into Tarot cards. Soon, you’ll be able to glimpse the future and COMPLETELY rewrite your story.
But be extremely careful—the price for such powerful magic may prove steep…
More Cards, Less Randomness!
What do the cards foretell? We’re preparing a full Tarot deck for you—each card will have a prophecy written on it that only you can fulfill. But choose wisely—once you draw a card, turning away from its prophecy can be not so easy.
Will you bend fate to your will, or remain a mere pawn in the grand game?
The Heathlands Demon
Prepare for the toughest duel in the game. Our new swordsman lives for one purpose only—to test the power of your deck. The great master of the blade has returned to the Heathlands in search of a worthy opponent.
Only… a fair fight doesn’t interest him much. To claim victory, you’ll have to go far beyond the usual rules of combat. We highly recommend stocking up on a few elixirs of purification—lest the duelist’s curses catch you off guard.
Do. Not. Play. With Fire.
The only thing stronger than their faith is their fists, and the only thing hotter than their zealous hearts is the fire of their torches. After all, why burn witches or demons at the stake when you can just as easily set a peasant ablaze for cursing under his breath?
The Firebrothers’ new paladin has already lit his enchanted lantern—and he’ll be hunting you down day and night. The brighter his flame burns, the stronger his bond with the Spirit of Fire—the sole master of the order. This new knight’s heart is quite literally burning, and he quickly climbed the Brotherhood’s hierarchy by solving all the order’s problems in one way—cleansing with fire.
Will you join the purging expeditions, or stand in defense of the (mostly) innocent unholy creatures?
How About Some Chit-Chat?
Hello everyone, Andrew aka Innrey here!
I’ve got some hot news about hotkeys for you. Soon, you’ll get a chance to upgrade your fine motor skills and keyboard-combat mastery, plus you’ll be able to skip our cutscenes and dialogues even faster 😔 (which we don’t recommend, of course).
But that’s just the beginning! Guess what’s in store for the challenge mode? We want to add more rogue-like elements to it, so the mode is about to undergo a wilder transformation than Bjorn does on a full moon! Many mechanics and events in the challenge mode will now work differently.
We’d love to hear from you—what would you like to see in the updated challenge mode? What should we leave as it is? True, big changes are coming, but we won’t touch your favorite mechanics!
Also… we’re planning to expand and enrich the game modes, with a big surprise on the way!
Of course, new achievements are coming alongside the new challenges. The achievement scroll will keep growing from time to time—don’t be alarmed! If you need help with any achievements—just ask us. We’re always happy to help you unlock that coveted trophy.
Thank you for your feedback and support. We hope these changes bring you joy, and that you’re as excited about the DLC as we are.
See you in the next diary!

KOTCL Developer Diaries: Happy Valentine’s Day!
Knock, knock, travelers!
It’s time we told you about the greatest power in the world of Midian… That power is… stronger than Mortis’s magic, older than the Mite’s cult, deadlier than the Demonic Blacksmith’s weapons – Love!
Oh, love is about to sweep you off your feet—it’s waiting for you in the eyes of the Mite’s Bride, in the embrace of Esha, or perhaps even within a small romantic plotline.
But that’s just the beginning. Pop the champagne, grab your paints, sharpen your quills—today, we’re launching an art contest! Craftsmen and artists, gather your inspiration! Bards and story writers, your time has come!
You can now create fan art or write a short story about Knock and win prizes from our game studio—and eternal glory, of course! Get ready; in today’s diary, we’ll tell you how much love we’ve poured into the game this week. And further below, you’ll find all the contest details!
A Swamp Date?

And a true sigma is waiting for you by the fire—the Elf Druid, strong and independent like a wolf from the Frontier. That’s an instant right swipe! Especially since a long and happy life in the Rotten Bog awaits you… How do you like this image? What would you add to our local Shrek?

How About Some Chit-Chat?
Hey, this is Andrew aka Innrey, the founder of RedBoon. Recently, you sent us some amazing Knock-themed art, and we’re so grateful to have such a cool and talented audience. You can’t imagine how important it is for us to see that the game inspires creativity. It’s a huge part of our lives, so it’s awesome to see it resonate with you! That’s why we decided to host this art contest for you! We’re really looking forward to your submissions, and we’ll happily share your work on our socials and discuss it together.
Meanwhile, development is still in full swing, so here are a few updates beyond the love theme: We’re working on new bosses to enrich the world of Midian; We’re creating new music, which you’ll be able to “unlock” in the game; We’re tirelessly fixing bugs after the update.
I want to thank the players who send us bug reports and help us improve the game—you’re literally saving us! Special thanks to the player CallMeShadow, who gave us detailed feedback and submitted over 20 bug reports in Discord. Finally, I wish inspiration upon everyone participating in the contest! May the strongest win! ♥️
KOTCL Developer Diaries: Life After the Patch
Knock-knock, travelers!
Last Friday, we released a mega-patch that revamped all the events in the game. We hibernated for the weekend and dreamt of new cards and a bug-free game...
We woke up in a new world. Your feedback on the patch charged us up better than the golem core itself—and this week has borne more fruit than the gardens of the gardener orc. Want to know how we spent the last 7 days? Here’s a quick recap!
Hunting bugs (at this point, we’re not sure who’s the hunter and who’s the prey 😅)
Planning the DLC release. As Mortis says, a good route is half the victory!
Working on balance adjustments.THE GREAT NERF IS COMING!
Preparing a Valentine's Day surprise for you. You’ll find out about it next Friday!
Forward, friends! Join us on a perilous trek through the Rotten Bog, a fierce contest between orcs and demons, and, of course, a review of new enemies and the latest game news. Let’s go!
New Lands Emerging in the Rotten Bog!
New locations will soon appear on the map—here’s a glimpse of one of them. We’re eager to create a full-fledged landscape for complete immersion in the atmosphere of Midian!
We draw inspiration from Caspar David Friedrich and John Constable—any other artists you’d recommend?
We pour our hearts and souls into every detail, striving for an authentic sense of presence. We want you to not just play but be there—to stand on the swampy ground, watching the sunset, inhaling the damp air. But something still feels missing… Tell us, who would you place in this clearing? What do you think of the new illustration?
The Orc Spearman Pays a Visit to the Demons?
Your relationship with the Orc Spearman is about to level up. You’ll be able to journey with him from the Steppes all the way to the Northern Gate! Get ready for endless stories of his exploits—like the legendary saga of how he jabbed an overgrown worm with his spear. You’ll have to listen to it all the way to the Castle (our condolences)…
But just imagine how he’ll sing of your deeds! Despite having no ear for music whatsoever, he might just compose an orc version of Toss a Coin to Your Witcher—about you!
And of course, he’ll always be there to lighten the mood after battle and break up Mortis’ heavy dialogues—not unlike Donkey from Shrek.
His sagas will be hard to forget, and his strength could turn the tide of battle at a crucial moment! So get ready for new storylines with the Orc Spearman!
The Mother of Imps Has a… New Addition?
The Northern Gate is now home to more than just orcs… The Castle has become so beloved by imps that they’re moving in with their entire families! Fighting travelers has become a family business for them, so brace yourselves—you’ll soon face young imps with new abilities!
Cheers!
We’re preparing an ultimate alchemical reset! The cauldrons are bubbling, potion-makers are drenched in sweat, and soon you’ll be able to create your potion-making hits… But be extremely careful! Science is a tricky matter, so the trial-and-error method might turn out to be a little… painful.
Expect enhanced recovery elixirs which will not only restore HP, but also provide nice buffs. The catch is that you’ll have to make them using human (and not only human) blood.
Will you dare pick up the mortar and pestle?
How About Some Chit-Chat!
Hey everyone, it’s Andrew aka Innrey!
Last Friday, we released this massive patch and then went into hibernation over the weekend. When we woke up, our phones were flooded with notifications.
Bugs…
We’re receiving about 2 bug reports per hour, and I just want to say how much we appreciate you sending them in. That helps us immensely. We’ll fix the issues very soon. And while we’re testing solutions, here’s a status report on some temporary new dangers in the lands of Midian:
Worm-Trawling Bug We recommend you avoid worm hunting for a while! Due to an anomaly in magical activity across the Crimson Steppes, the “Worm Trawling” event may experience bugs.
Code Fragments on Cards Since Midian is a highly multicultural world, with an endless variety of languages, you may occasionally notice mysterious inscriptions on familiar cards. Please don’t be alarmed! The thing is we translate for you from dwarvish, orcish, goblin, elven, and even demonic dialects, and sometimes minor discrepancies occur.
Invisible Cards Or new tricks of the crazy Court Mage…
We sincerely apologize for these bugs. Our team is small, but we’re working tirelessly to fix each and every error. A patch with fixes is coming soon.
Once again, thank you for your patience, bug reports, comments, and feedback. They mean the world to us and inspire us to keep going. As soon as we get the bugs under control, we’ll continue expanding the game—and we’d love to hear from you:
How do you like the patch?
What do you think of the new battle log and event log?
What were you expecting but didn’t quite get?
And now, an important confession… We’ve studied your comments, held counsel, ran tests, and… my friends, I was mortified by your secret that was revealed to me. Please, look me in the eyes and tell me honestly…
How many times have you farmed that imbalanced set? How many times have you taken the same routes? Hunted the same elves?
Today, it’s time to put an end to this! Very soon, “the-imba-from-the-Frontier” will be no more! Get ready! We’re reworking…
The Spry Elven Set!
I’ve realized that I can’t avoid responsibility for this gear set any longer. Soon, it will be mercilessly nerfed (but other sets will also be improved)!
We’re also preparing a little Valentine’s Day surprise for you—I’m going to continue working on it right now. :)
See you in the next dev diary!

KOTCL Developer Diaries: A Giant Update Already In The Game With A Discount!
Knock, knock, travelers!
We released the largest patch since the release. In the patch, we reworked ALL events. Although we checked it through and through, some minor bugs can occur during the first few days after the release. If you notice something suspicious, please let us know. We will do our best to fix the situation as soon as possible.
We apologize for any possible inconveniences.
We would also like to thank everyone who took part in the open beta test. You have no idea how much you've helped the project—we're forever indebted to you!
If the patch note with all its technical details looks more like a spell scroll—don’t worry! Here’s what’s in the update:
We’ve added:
Event Log—Now you can easily track your (not always so heroic) history.
Battle Log—Rewatch your greatest victories or those runs where you collected the Elven set for the thousandth time…
Event Notes on the Map—No more “Wait, where did I see that?!”
Dozens of New Rewards—Get your inventory ready for fresh loot.
But that’s not all! You can also look forward to:
New Golem Adventures (hope you like gardening!)
Tarantino-style dialogues with the guards
A bit of alchemy and potion brewing
A fishing mini-game (you might not like the catch…)
And, of course, new cards
It’s all already in the game! Are you still here? Then welcome to the festive edition of New Midian Chronicle!
We've worked hard to improve the game, but your feedback means the world to us! If you run into bugs or have ideas and suggestions, reach out on Discord or email us at: 4knockbugs@gmail.com. We read everything carefully and are happy to respond!
We've been swamped with playtesting and bug fixing this week, but no deadline can burn out our inspiration—we still have plenty to show you. Let’s go!
Event Log – Your Personal Book of Life
Now, you can examine the threads of your fate under a magnifying glass. Your achievements and quest goals are neatly stored in the Event Log—clear as day. Reflect on your decisions, analyze storylines, and try to pinpoint, in which moment everything went wrong. Happy reading!
Bjorn’s New Multi-Level Card!
This patch has us howling at the moon! Our artists went all out, creating four different artworks for a single card so you can upgrade it to your heart’s content! And that’s not all! So better get your deck ready!
The Orc Chief is Waiting!
The bloody Crimson Steppes are a ruthless, merciless land where the weak won’t live long. To survive here one has to know their way around weapons. The only law here is the law of brute force.
Massive, fearsome, and relentless, the orcs know no mercy and feel no fear. They don’t build cities, sow fields, or forge metal—they take what they want.
Among them, Moggot is a living legend. His footsteps echo across the golden sands of the Steppes, and goblins whisper his name to scare their youngins.
Are you ready to challenge him? Hold on tight, because this fight might be the last in your current game…
Heaps of New Loot
We might need to raise the game’s age rating because now you can find:
An experimental growth elixir—guess whose fat it’s made from? Bon appétit!
And dozens of other new items!
So, start clearing out your inventory!
How About Some Chit-Chat!
Hello from Knock’s kitchen! It’s Andrew aka Innrey, I’m here to share the secret recipe for this season’s biggest patch!
Ingredients:
10,000 lines of code
20 liters of tears spilled over bugs
A cup of inspiration
A pinch of almost-not-overdue deadlines
Simmer everything for 8 months over the heat of your likes and comments—until golden-brown, crispy, and bug-free game.
The secret ingredient? Your feedback!
Last week, we launched open beta testing, and I have only three words: You. Saved. Us! Huge thanks to all beta testers for your suggestions, bug reports, and comments! We’re a small team, and without you, it would’ve been much harder to find those seeds of chaos and glitches you uncovered.
So we had gathered enough feedback on OBT, triple-checked everything, crossed our fingers, and… the update is live!
Honestly? We’re exhausted—but incredibly happy. It feels like a massive weight off our shoulders.
What’s next? We’ll head for DLC! The storm is behind us, the wind of your feedback is filling our sails, and your comments light the way like the North Star. Our weekend plan is to hibernate. On Monday, we’ll dive headfirst into the ocean of DLC tasks.
Thank you so much! We can feel your support almost physically, and it keeps us moving forward.
And, by the way, until February 7, you can get Knock with a discount! So if you were waiting for the opportune moment to grab the game—this is it! 🎉
See you in New Midian, and have a great weekend!

KOTCL Developer Diaries: Beta-Test and A Tour Around DLC Dungeons!
Knock, knock, travelers!
Are you ready for the most unusual tour of our game world? Welcome to the “Horror of the Depths” route! For a mug of elven ale, we’ll guide you into the very heart of Midian’s dungeons, and of course, we’ll send you home with a few small souvenirs to remember the adventure.
And the bravest among you can even join our beta test.
Ancient artifacts, abandoned palaces, magical moons, and of course, a meeting with our brand-new dwarf will await you!
But let’s not keep you waiting. Light your torches, keep your weapons ready, and please, don’t touch the levers (you remember what happened last time, right?). Now, onward into the caves of Midian!
First Attraction—The Palace in the Rock!
On your left, you’ll see a structure, estimated by the best mages to have been built approximately 400,000 winters ago. The head is missing because, well, 400,000 winters is a lot, even for enchanted granite. Whose statue is it? Oh, you’ll see the original soon enough—don’t worry! It’s believed to honor the ancient inhabitants of the dungeons, whom you’ll have the chance to meet later. As is often the case, the answers lie deep below, but most tours stop at the surface.
But we’re just getting started—let’s go deeper!
Meet the Runaway Dwarf!
Today’s tour will be accompanied by our colleague, a native of the Thundering Mountain! Life has truly put him through the wringer: years in elven captivity, loss of family, battles with ghouls— not a life, but a complete nightmare. But today, he’ll faithfully protect us to ensure this tour goes without a hitch. What happened on the last tour? Oh… uh, nothing important…
Descending further, you hear the dwarf muttering under his breath: “The elves at least fed me… and here it’s just rocks and dust! I’d rather go back to ghouls than babysit these tourists…
DO NOT TOUCH THE LEVER!
Hold on a moment… Yes, of course, we know the way. We just need to check a few things. Hat… check. Torch… check. Whip… never leave home without it… purification potion… uh-oh… No, there’s no need to worry- really, no need at all. If anything happens, the alchemist from the Rotten Bog can lift the curse of the tombs from you…
Speaking of tombs! Before you is a burial site for fallen warriors, set within an abandoned archway. It was previously used for summoning demons—or so it’s believed. What’s that? You want to know what this lever does?
Don’t touch the lever!
Sorry for raising my voice! Actually, we’re 700 fathoms below the surface, and it’s better to whisper down here. The subterranean creatures react to any sound, and trust me, you don’t want to disturb them…
But let’s move on…
Some Souvenirs?
Ladies and gentlemen, we’re coming close to the borders of the modest section of the dungeons that the guards managed to secure from demons. We’ve barely scratched the surface, but descending further would be too dangerous. So that’s all for now—choose a souvenir to remember the journey!
Amulet of Balance: will help you restore inner balance and fill your life with harmony and order. And a wolf’s strength will make you as strong and independent as a wolf pack—howl away!
Mite Egg: a perfect gift for your loved one (especially with Valentine’s Day coming up)! What’s better than raising a tiny miteling into a giant, man-eating monster together? Or, if you’re looking to break up, this egg is also a great choice…
Exorcism Potion: perfect if you feel like something alien has taken root in your soul (not a certified medicine—consult a healer before use).
What Do the Three Moons Foretell?
Travelers, night is falling, and it’s time to say goodbye. But this spring, you can continue exploring the dungeons on your own—if you dare.
Before you go, we’d like to show you a stunning astronomical event visible at the cave’s exit. Tonight, Midian’s satellites align in a Parade of Moons—a phenomenon that won’t occur again for another 9,000 years.
Each moon has its own story. The lower moon, the Moon of Mist, governs illusions and magic. The Blood Moon in the center awakens ancient power in the hearts of monsters. And the upper moon, the Moon of Fate, has intriguing effects on werewolves…
How About Some Chit-Chat?
Hello, friends! Andrew aka Innrey’s here.
This week has felt like the final boss of Dark Souls… The bags under my eyes have got their own inventory, and it’s definitely overloaded. On morning calls, our programmers look like Sigismund’s mad mage (should I be worried about them?). But great news: we’re ready to invite testers to the beta, where you can try out the battle log, event log, and tons of other new features!
How to Join the Open Beta Test:
🔸 Launch Steam and right-click on Knock on the Coffin Lid. 🔸 Select Properties and go to the betas tab. 🔸 Next to “Beta Testing,” choose the branch “[LINK DA BRANCH].” 🔸 Wait for Steam to update.
Important: The beta version is available for Windows only. Before installing the beta, make sure to finish your current runs and back up the "Knock" save folder located at C:\Users\[YourUsername]\AppData\LocalLow\RedBoon\Knock
If you encounter any issues or bugs or want to provide feedback:
1. Use the “Bug report” feature in the game menu after pressing Esc. 2. Describe the issue in the “Open Beta Test” thread in the Steam Community Discussions. 3. Contact us in our Discord server 4. (If the above doesn’t work) Email us at 4knockbugs@gmail.com with the contents of your “Knock” folder attached.
What’s all the fuss about? We’re preparing a mega-patch packed with updates and bugs!
First of all, there’ll be new endings! We’ve added so much to these that even I’m scared of what awaits you if you choose… let’s say, the less “noble” path. One of the game’s key ideas is that choices shape our fates—sometimes more profoundly than expected. Trust a shady ally or walk the lone path? Often, the cost of your choice can be unpredictable, and karma will follow you everywhere.
Secondly, karma will now work as precisely as the mechanisms of the Golem from the Frontier. So smash idols and attack the orc gardener at your own risk—the game will remember everything… EVERYTHING (yes, doesn’t that sound ominous!).
We’ve also had huge progress with PS5 porting! After a breadcrumb trail of documents, approvals, and bureaucracy, we’re finally approved. Hooray! Console players, add us to your wishlists :)
Frankly speaking, for a small studio with no publishers or powerful connections, a console release is a major milestone. When I see our page in the PlayStation Store, I feel warmth inside. Soon, we’ll be scrolling through the PS Store and see our familiar trio.
All week, we’ve been working hard to finish the sprint on time. Our artists and game designers are doing tremendous work—think about that when you see their names in the credits of the new endings!
For now, we’re not saying goodbye: your participation in the beta test is incredibly valuable because it’s the community that shapes the direction of the game’s development. We listen to every piece of feedback you share. Together, we’ll figure out why Bjorn transforms into a lycan so quickly and where all the necessary gear from the shops disappeared to.
Thank you so much for your support, friends! See you in the next dev diary!

KOTCL Developer Diaries: Demon-Vanadis, Potion-Making, and New Goblins
Knock, knock, travelers!
Come sit at our bonfire and get yourself a full tankard of ale! This work week is over, and we’ve gathered by the fire to tell you blood-curdling stories… stories of rebalancing, localizations, and time management.
It’s time that we shared the eerie rumors about Vanadis that haven’t let us sleep for many moons. An ancient curse seems to have stricken her loyal pet already, and now it’s upon her. But it’s only a small part of what we’ve learned. Far in the sands of the Crimson Steppes, a new danger is arising—and it’s more frightening than any curse…
We’ve got lots of news so get yourself comfortable. Let’s start!
Vanadis, Can This Be You?
Do you recognize her? No, this is not a harmless illusion. Vanadis’ pursuit of magic has gone too far… Her drive for power and knowledge has turned out to be a perfect lure for the demonic forces. A potent Inquiline has entered her mind, seducing her with promises of unlimited power. Her thirst for knowledge has led her into a series of dark events and brought her to the edge of an abyss…
But the demon hasn’t simply settled in Vanadis’ mind—he’s taken over her whole body, turning her into a weapon in the hands of an ancient evil.
Can Vanadis subject the Inquiline to her will, or is she doomed, like Sigismund, to turn into a pawn of the dark forces?
The decision is yours!
Welcome to Potions Class!
Let’s be honest, store-bought potions are just not the same. Even a dish made without feeling tastes different, let alone potions.
Well it’s time to practice the ancient art! The ingredients are ready, so stock up on mortars, retorts, and flasks—soon you’ll be able to brew something new.
But beware! The smallest mistake will leave you not with a healing potion, but with poison that can knock even a steppe worm off its feet (or is it a tail?). Also, keep in mind that a sudden amplification of all potions is expected in the coming months. Is this because of the Moons’ Phase or some magic anomaly? You’ll find out soon…
Explosive Goblins
Very soon, you’ll have the chance to test your alchemy skills against a new goblin! While you were busy drinking from the Frontier puddle, goblins decided to boost their intelligence to an impressive level of 1 and completed our potion courses! As they say, “Live and evolve,” whether you’re a human or a little green creature from the Steppes. But their success is still questionable: flasks keep bubbling and exploding, and clouds of acrid smoke fill the air. But hey, sweet and easy has never been the goblin way!
How About Some Chit-Chat?
Hello friends, it’s Andrew aka Innrey!
Another week has flown by, and we’re getting closer to the release of the *Nightmares of Millenis*! So far, it seems like we’re on track, but there’s still this lingering anxiety—what if we’ve missed something or haven’t given it enough in some areas? Looking at the endless list of tasks for the DLC feels like carrying a mountain on my shoulders. The release of the *Nightmares* is knocking at the door, and it’s a serious test for the whole team! Project management in game development is no walk in the park. Everything looks neat and tidy when in graphs and spreadsheets, but any task can suddenly balloon in scope, or someone might fall ill, and let’s not forget about bugs, last-minute corrections, or sudden flashes of inspiration that completely flip the original plan. Right now, we’re treading on very thin ice, trying to keep our priorities straight, stay calm, and remember why we’re making our game in the first place.
Between us: my New Year’s wish was a full rebalance of the *Knock*. When the clock struck midnight, I crossed my fingers and kept my wish a secret from everyone (well, except for you, of course). But… I can already see that my dream of a complete rebalance won’t come true by spring. Sure, the balance will shift significantly, but without a total “apocalypse”. We’ve decided to save the bulk of it for a calmer time after the DLC release. Yes, I’ve promised you a complete rebalance on many occasions, and yes, it **will** happen. But I don’t want our entire team to burn themselves out, sacrificing their health during sleepless nights just to meet target dates. That would exhaust everyone and hurt the game’s quality. So, I’ve decided to push it to the next phase and focus on the DLC release for now.
That said, we’re not leaving everything as is! We’re still making some changes that you can expect by spring:
Improved damage, healing, and block— for both heroes and enemies
Buffing up weaker builds and nerfing overpowered ones (can you guess which?)
We’re always open to your feedback on balance — share your thoughts in the comments:
Who should we nerf?
Who should we buff?
What else should we focus on?
Your comments on these topics in the previous dev diary were fantastic—we’ve taken a lot of them into account!
Those bloody merchants often charge insane prices for gear, or the opposite happens: you have 1,000 coins, but the item you need isn’t there. Soon, these situations will happen less often. We’re preparing to roll out an “economics patch,” and a tax break for the merchants of Midian!
By the way, we’re currently working hard on the Japanese localization. Japanese culture inspired many aspects of our game (remember that overpowered evasion armor?), so I’m thrilled that we’re making progress in expanding our translations.
That’s all for now! Thank you for your feedback and suggestions—we read all of them, and many of them are discussed by us and introduced into the game. We truly couldn’t do it without you!
See you in the next dev diary!

NEW HOTFIX IS HERE!
Knock-knock, travelers!
We’ve released a hotfix to address issues with worm egg collection and the related achievement "You are now dressed as a fiend". You can now loot all the eggs from the unfortunate worms (and if you know where to trade them, obtain Batu the Smart's full gear set). Enjoy exploring the Crimson Steppes and good luck with your adventures!
Fixed
Fixed a bug where instead of 3 worm eggs dropped only 1
Fixed an issue with unlocking the achievement "You are now dressed as a fiend"

KOTCL Developer Diaries: New NPC Under the Light of a Triple Moon
Knock, knock, travelers!
The holidays are over—all the fireworks have been set off and the only reminders of Christmas are the fir-trees in the woods of the Frontier, and instead of lights we now have burning torches and candles on the underground altars. We’re happy to see you in the new year! Our team is grateful for your kind wishes under our previous post—it was a pleasure to read them! We have had a good rest and found inspiration, and we can’t wait to share the news!
The residents of Midian are in for colossal changes. Today, we’d like to talk about the fate of the Northern Gate and the clash between the Guard and the Firebrothers. On top of that, our team has received a fragment of a map of some unknown dungeons. Let’s see what information we can gain from it!
We will also share news about the astronomical phenomena in Midian—it seems the stars have truly aligned! But what do they foretell?
Let’s find out!
Crafting a New Map – What Do You Think?
The first adventurers have already dared to descend into Midian’s underground. Few have survived—only a journal and a map fragment have reached us…
It seems those pioneers wanted to tell us all about blood-drenched altars, hidden treasures, and the magical fog that drowns out torchlight. However, they never found their way out of the dungeon...
What do you think about the dungeon map? What else would you like to see on it? Share in the comments!
The Full Moon Wasn’t Full Enough, Had To Add More Moons
In the world of Midian, the Moons play a special role. They rule the flows of magic, influence monster behavior, and even affect the moods of residents (maybe that’s why so many peasants tried to eat you?).
During the festival of the Star Spirits, our whole team went to the shores of Midian to sit by a fire, greet the new moon, crack open some ale, and...
It turned out the number of moons in the sky was surprisingly low. Together with top-tier mages, we had to correct the celestial phenomena. Full moon = 3 moons. Period. Although our programmers insist there should be at least 7 moons. We’d like to hear your advice—how many moons do you want, and what colors should they be? Would you like a bloody Moon?
We won’t spoil it, but the Moons will play a huge role in an upcoming event...
Meet The New NPC—Marshal Lupen!
The Guards and the Firebrothers couldn’t find common ground by 2025... which means you’ll have to pick a side in their escalating conflict and decide the fate of the Northern Gate.
On the Guards’ side, you’ll meet Marshal Lupen—an adept strategist and legendary swordsman. Lupen is unwaveringly loyal to his people and he always stands by his word, though in critical moments, he can act with cold calculation. Don’t be misled by his tender age—like Alexander the Great, Lupen was commanding his first unit at just 16 years old.
Who will you meet on the Firebrothers’ side? Well, you will find that out soon!
How About Some Chit-Chat?
Greetings, friends! This is Andrew aka Innrey. After the holidays, jumping back into the frantic pace of development wasn’t easy—but on the bright side, we had a good rest, replenished our energy, and are now ready for new feats!
How were your holidays? Did you have time to recharge? I used this break to take a fresh look at the game and carefully read all your comments and feedback. I’ve come up with a few key questions.
How did you feel about the final battle for Vanadis?
Should there be an even faster fast mode?
Would you like clearer hints on how to survive Millenis deadly strike?
Your opinion matters to me—I strive to implement every idea that can make the game world richer and more engaging.
Our after-holiday workdays have been very productive. Last year, we added over 3,000 new sounds, and this week, we decided to include new types of effects. Get your headphones ready—my favorite sound now is the growl of the bear spirit, followed closely by the zombie moans and the ghoul scream (you’ll hear them all in an upcoming update)!
For the most observant ones—you might have noticed that updates are coming out a bit less frequently. That’s because something incredible is happening on the bug front—there are fewer and fewer of them! This allows us to focus on new content. However, we’re still fighting the stubborn achievement involving worm eggs—it’s refusing to give in. We’re preparing a “silver bullet” fix for it; it will be fixed soon.
Now for some serious questions: do you think the game universe is balanced? We feel it’s not quite there yet— so we’ve decided to improve the game’s karma system! We’ve already leveled out the cosmic balance and adjusted the world scales, so tracking karma will become more convenient, and the consequences of your choices will be more apparent.
That’s how our winter holidays went by. How about you? How did you celebrate, and what adventures have you experienced in the game? What discoveries have you made? Let us know—we’d love to hear from you! And, of course, thank you for being with us. See you again in Midian!
