Knossos

Knossos 1.2 has been released

Knossos 1.2 patch notes

This is a bug fixing and improved stability patch.

• Fixed a bug that would sometimes cause a crash or freeze when dropping a clue while calculations were still in progress.
• Multiple fixes have been made to the multithreading code, resulting in improved stability.
• Fixed an issue where Knossos would crash if you dropped too many clues (>70), due to running out of texture memory. Old textures are now unloaded to make way for new ones, allowing you to drop as many clues as you want.

Knossos 1.1 Demo is now available

Along with the release pf Knossos 1.1, we have also released a demo version of Knossos. This is a free trial version which includes all the features of the full version, but limits you to three minutes per game. It is available via the Demo button on our store page.

Knossos has been ported to DirectX 11 for greatly improved performance

We have just released Knossos v1.1 which is primarily a port of Knossos to using DirectX 11 as its 3D rendering technology. This gives greatly improved graphical performance, and you should now enjoy at least 60 fps in all but the most extremely complex scenarios. There are also a few feature changes and bug fixes. The patch notes follow:

Knossos v1.1 patch notes

New features and changes

• Knossos has been ported to DirectX 11. This gives greatly improved graphical performance, and you should now enjoy at least 60 fps in all but the most extremely complex scenarios.
• The fog effect is now available with point lighting; previously it was only supported with ambient lighting.
• Untextured walls may now have landmarks and clues placed on them.
• The lighting quality setting has been removed, as the port to DirectX 11 has rendered it obsolete. Lighting quality is now always as good as or better than the previous maximum lighting quality setting provided.
• The option to not use textures has been removed. Instead you may use the new “Untextured” texture set if you want untextured walls.

Bug fixes and performance improvements

• The fog effect no longer noticeably reduces the frame rate.
• The performance of the maze editor has been significantly improved.
• Fixed a bug where an exception could be thrown if Knossos was exited while graphics calculations were still ongoing.
• Fixed a bug where an exception could be thrown if the UI settings were changed while graphics calculations were still ongoing.
• Fixed a lighting bug where the illumination of a wall would sometimes change abruptly by a small but noticeable amount on moving.
