On October 18th, we released the next chapter in our thrilling saga, Kona II: Brume. Take a glimpse into the unfolding mystery with this trailer:
Our tale resumes right from the conclusion of Kona. Venture further into Manastan's environmental enigma. Seek answers to Carl's unnerving hallucinations and uncover the cryptic tales entwined within Hamilton's properties.
The North, Rendered Beautifully
Kona II: Brume is crafted using Unity's latest High Definition Rendering Pipeline. Every visual element has been designed to harness its full potential, offering a visual experience that surpasses its predecessor, especially on top-tier hardware.
A Different Experience
Though Kona II: Brume shares familiar elements with the original, it ventures into uncharted terrain. While the first game had you combing through houses, this sequel guides you to Hamilton company's properties, and introduces you to other enigmatic survivors. With new modes of transport, an engaging dialogue system, and innovative features, Kona II: Brume stands distinctively on its own.
We've poured a lot of passion and dedication into this sequel, and we sincerely hope you find it as enthralling as we do.
Oh, and Kona is off 75% for the occasion (starting at 10 AM PT), tell all your friends :)
Cheers and enjoy the investigation!

Kona II: Brume Free Demo Live Now!
Hi everyone,
As a follow-up to our presence at Gamescom 2022, we have decided to release the Kona II: Brume demo here on Steam for the Next Fest, a multi-day celebration of upcoming games!
The demo starts at the very beginning of the game. The player steps into the shoes of detective Carl Faubert, and must explore his surroundings in order to find out more about a strange phenomenon called the Brume. It presents the first thirty minutes of the experience, and showcases several items useful to Carl's investigation —and survival.
The demo is for Windows only, and requires a fairly decent GPU, such as Nvidia RTX 2060 or higher. The game is still in development, so you may expect a lot of improvements and optimisations in the final game.
On top of this, we're revealing a new trailer:
If you have any feedback or question, feel free to ask in the forums, or join us on Discord.
We hope you'll enjoy!
Cheers :)

Kona II: Brume Continues the Story of Carl Faubert
Hi everyone,
It’s been a while—four challenging years—since we last shared anything substantial with the world. There will be a time to discuss these extraordinary years, as well as to discuss an update to Kona, but today we're here with some other news.
We are pleased to reveal the existence of Kona's sequel: Kona II: Brume. Kona II's mysteries revolve around the Brume, a bizarre, mind-bending mist engulfing the fictive region of Manastan, in Northern Québec, Canada. The game starts where its predecessor left off, in October of the year 1970, but explores new grounds, and a storyline that lives on its own. Kona II: Brume is carefully made to please fans of Kona as well as newcomers.
Developed by Parabole and published by Ravenscourt on PC and consoles, the new adventure will be playable during Gamescom in Cologne (August 24th–29th) at the Indie Arena Booth. For those not attending, there will be plenty of footage and new details uncovered at the same time. In the meantime, you can take a look at Kona II: Brume on Steam for additional details and screenshots of the game.
We hope you all enjoyed hearing back from us and Kona II's teaser, and we are looking forward to revealing more next month!
Cheers!

Kona VR Is Out Now
Kona for Virtual Reality has arrived, with support for Oculus, HTC Vive, and motion controls!
Here is the trailer:
https://youtu.be/HIpAa0fdwYo
And for this special occasion, we have prepared a FAQ just in case you’re wondering how it all works:
How Do I Get Access to the DLC?
Kona VR is available on our store pageas part of a bundle for new players and as DLC for owners of the base game.
So What’s Different on VR?
Well, not much really. It is Kona, but in virtual reality :) The only big change we’ve made is introducing a safe mode that is always on in VR, which removes combat against wolves. Encounters didn’t feel right in VR and caused motion sickness for many players.
What Happens to my Saved Game?
Nothing. You may continue your progress in VR, and swap back to non-VR anytime. Kona VR is just another way to immerse yourself in the Manastan region.
So What’s Next?
We have been hard at work pushing all versions of Kona in the last four years; PC, Mac, Linux, PS4, Xbox One, Android TV, Switch and now VR. During that time, many users encountered and reported issues with the game, which we are keeping in a nice todo list. So now that all the promised platforms are supported, we are going to (1) fix the issues and provide updates for the game, and (2) think about our next big thing :)
There are more news to come, but for the time being, we are going to support our recent launch and work on updates.
Stay tuned!
Kona Now Localized in Simplified Chinese, and Daily Deal: 40% off!
Hey everyone!
As you know, Canada is famous for its nice and warm weather (especially in the winter). We wouldn’t want to keep it for ourselves, so we make constant efforts to share it with more people around the globe. Today, we are happy to announce that a new Kona update is now live, and it includes Simplified Chinese localization, bringing the game’s famous blizzard on more screens!
To celebrate, Kona will be 40% off as part of the Daily Deals! The sale starts at 1:00 PM ET!
The patch also contains small bug fixes and optimizations. There is only one significant change (except for SC) in the patch: we changed the way “visions” are triggered. The reason is mostly tied to the end of the game, so we will not explain it here to avoid spoilers. If you really want to know, please let us know in the comments and we’ll create a sticky thread in the forums.
Coming Next: Russian Localization
As you probably know, localization can be really expensive (both in time and money), which is why Russian language is not in the game yet. So why is Simplified Chinese language in the game before Russian? We had a generous opportunity for Simplified Chinese localization, which made it possible for us to add it in the game first.
We understand that it’s been a few months since the game’s official release, and we would like to thank you for your patience. Rest assured that today’s update didn’t delay Russian localization, which will be added in Kona by Q4 2017.

Patch #3
Hey everyone!
That’s right, there’s a new update today! We know that some Mac and Linux players experienced issues with the last update and this is mostly what we improved here. However, we do not have access to a wide range of machines running on these operating systems, so if you encounter bugs, glitches, etc, please let us know in the forums or by email at support@parabole.ca.
FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS
That being said, here is a glimpse of what today’s patch brings:
Linux: The black screen glitch in the main menu should be fixed
Linux: The mouse should now appear and work correctly in the main menu
Mac: Bloom and Depth of field are now disabled by default as we are working on fixing compatibility issues with both effects (can be enabled if you have no issues with these options)
Shader quality can now only be set at “high” if your graphic cards supports DirectX 11+
Fixed the ice spike attack bug when encountering ice wolves on the snowmobile, which would sometimes make the game crash
Most random crashes (when loading a game, for instance) have been fixed
Other minor bug fixes and optimizations
UPCOMING CHANGES & KNOWN ISSUES
And here’s a short list of known issues and changes to come:
Linux: the name of the region you are visiting doesn’t show on the screen when you arrive
Linux: some may still encounter the black screen glitch and/or the mouse not working bugs in the main menu. If this is the case, please let us know, there is a work-around fix and we will make a sticky post in the forums
Mac: Bloom and Depth of field disabled by default should fix most of the graphical glitches encountered in the last update. However, if you encounter similar glitches while these options are disabled, please let us know and we will fix them as soon as possible
Random crashes: we were able to fix most of them, but there may be some that we might have missed. As usual, we will work on fixing them as soon as you report/we notice them
We will add Russian language for subtitles, texts and menus
We will add an option to enable/disable quick loading screens between areas
More optimizations and bug fixes, as always ;)

Patch #2
Hey everyone!
An update for Kona has just been released!
FIXES AND IMPROVEMENTS
Here’s a list of bug fixes and improvements that come with the patch:
We removed two loading screens (on bridges, when leaving the General Store area)
You can now delete photos (by clicking on a picture, a small window will open and let you choose)
Mouse smoothing option has been added in the controls options
In the same option menu, we also added an option to enable/disable autosaves
We fixed unresponsive mouse and trackpad clicks in menus (when you have a touch screen)
The yellow arrow in the middle of radial menus is now aligned accordingly
We fixed a screen resolution display issue for Mac and Linux, which always showed the same resolution. This prevented players who changed it of bringing it back to its default value
The first journal entry of “The Hunt” is now triggered automatically when approaching the first crossbow bolt instead of direct interaction
We fixed a rare bug in which the player would complete the game in daylight when loading a checkpoint at a specific moment and location.
We fixed a rare bug that would let the combat music continue at the end instead of changing for the end credits song.
We fixed the invisible mouse cursor on Linux
Many textures and collision fixes
Other minor bug fixes and optimizations
Also, we updated Unity 3D engine (version 5.6) and here are some important notes about how it affects the game:
Graphics settings will be reset to their default value. Before playing, make sure to set them back to your own preferences
If you own a computer with a not-so-powerful CPU, but with a good GPU, the game should run better than before
Some visual effects and materials have changed a little (they were not compatible with the new version of Unity)
Cloths have been temporarily deactivated due to unusual crashes. Most have been replaced with animations, others will be fixed in the next patch
UPCOMING CHANGES & KNOWN ISSUES
And here’s a short list of what to expect in the next months:
We will add Russian language for texts, interface and subtitles
We will add an option to enable/disable quick loading screens between areas
More optimizations and bug fixes, as always ;)

NVIDIA Ansel Now Supported in Kona
Hey everyone!
NVIDIA GeForce drivers that were released today unlocked NVIDIA Ansel support for Kona, which means that you can now take even more awesome screenshots!
NVIDIA Ansel is a revolutionary technology that hands gamers the tools to capture unique, professional-grade 2D, 360° and Virtual Reality 360° screenshots on GeForce GTX graphics cards.
By pressing Alt-F2 in the game, you can capture personally-framed free-cam screenshots, adjust the field of view and rotation of the screen, add optional Instagram-style filters, and save to shareable file types with a single click. The game pauses during the process, so you don’t have to worry about freezing to death. Here are a few examples of filters you can apply on screenshots:
Hope you enjoy Ansel :)
Cheers!

Hey everyone!
It’s been two weeks now since we have launched Kona on Steam. It looks like both the press and you guys are enjoying it! Since launch, more than 5,000 additional players bought Kona and joined us on Steam and 36,987 persons added the game to their wishlists! We’ve had some solid press coverage too:

We fixed the disappearing Iron Box bug (it should reappear in your inventory)
We fixed “The Hunt” achievement (it will unlock when you reload a save in which you found all crossbow bolts)
We added a light to be able to see the map in the car at night
Radio interacting icon in the car is now hidden when holding the map
Various minor bug fixes and optimizations
UPCOMING CHANGES & KNOWN ISSUES
...and the things we expect to ship in the coming weeks:
We will add an option to delete pictures in the journal
We will add an option to disable quick loadings between areas
We will add Russian language for texts, interface and subtitles
NVIDIA will whitelist Kona in its driver to support Ansel and other NVIDIA features
We will fix the bug with the notification stuck on-screen
We will fix the bug of the night that never triggers
DLC SOUNDTRACK AVAILABLE NOW
Along with this update, we are proud to announce that the original soundtrack by CuréLabel will be available as a DLC on our store page soon!
MESSAGE TO KICKSTARTER BACKERS WHO PURCHASED THE DIGITAL SOUNDTRACK: you should receive your Steam key within an hour! If there is anything, contact us at support@parabole.ca.
COMMUNITY SCREENSHOTS + ANSEL
Not only do we love the screenshots you guys are sharing on Steam, but we’re now working with NVIDIA to bring the magic of Ansel to Kona. Ansel allows any player to freely move the camera around to take gorgeous HD screenshots, 360° panoramas and VR-compatible stereoscopic images of the game.
Ansel is already supported, but not yet whitelisted in the official drivers. You shouldn’t have to wait long for the update to arrive, but for those who are eager to try it out, you can simply open the command line, paste the following line (including quotes) and press enter:
When it’s done, pressing Alt-F2 anytime during gameplay (except during cutscenes) will open Ansel. Note that this requires a compatible graphics card (NVIDIA 600 series and up). We’re going to share more details about Ansel in another update.
EDIT: Driver update is now live on Geforce Experience and Kona is now whitelisted by default. You don't need to write this command anymore :)
That’s it for today’s update! Let’s finish this in beauty, here are three handpicked screenshots from the community:

Kona Is Now Officially Out!
https://youtu.be/iHdcOzC1UJc
Hey everyone!
After a year on Early Access, Kona is now officially out! We’d like to thank all our early supporter who gave us all the helpful feedback we needed to make Kona what it is today!
What’s new
If you played Kona on Early Access, you probably wonder what will change starting today. During early access, approximately 30% of the game content was available. Starting today, you can finally discover the rest!
You will also be able to find and drive a snowmobile and you can expect new encounters, among other things (we wouldn’t want to spoil the whole thing now, would we).
Original soundtrack DLC
Along with the official launch, the original soundtrack will be available soon as a DLC on our store page. We will publish another article when the time comes.
Kickstarter Shout Out
Our friends at Borealys Games, an indie studio from Montreal, just launched a Kickstarter campaign for their upcoming game Mages of Mystralia. We played it at PAX and it’s really awesome. Follow this link to learn more about this action-adventure game and help them out if you like it!
The Next Step
We expect our forums to be a lot more active, so it may take a little more time for us to answer everyone. Rest assured that we will read every post though!
With Kona out there, we’ll begin working on other projects. We are still in the brainstorming phase, but as soon as we can talk about it, we will!
