Kovox Pitch

Kovox Pitch will be free soon!

Hello everyone!
It's been a while since I posted anything and now I have some news for you.

Lofi Ping Pong and Kovox Pitch will soon become free on Steam! To be more precise, it will happen on the 19th of November 2023.
The main reason for this decision is time (and money). Some people already know that in 2022 I got a job at a gamedev company. There wasn't much time left for my own games, which made it difficult to make updates (I'm not even talking about making a new game). This eventually affected the number of sales, which led me to the decision to make them free-to-play. But that doesn't mean I'm giving them up.

I had an update plan for Kovox Pitch, which I executed this summer and I consider it 100% finished.
Things are more ambiguous with Lofi Ping Pong.
Even though it's already a pretty old game (it's almost 5 years old, sheesh), I want to make two major updates. First of all, I'll make a new UI (I already have all mockups for it). Secondly, I'll make a unified version of the game on all platforms (Steam has the 2019 version of the game made with Gamemaker, Switch and mobiles have the 2020 version made with Unity). Honestly, both updates I want to make primarily for myself, just to see what I've learnt in 5 years. Of course, I'll add stuff like the calibrator too, because it's a rhythm game after all!

In August I was planning to do both updates by the end of this year, but I'm 100% not going to make it in time. I won't be setting any new deadlines, in the last couple of months I haven't done much for one reason - I'm tired. I'll take rest until the end of the 2023, but will keep giggling at your funny reviews on Steam. If you guys are tired too, you're welcome to join the I-Will-Do-It-Later club, it's lovely here.
P.S. Lofi Ping Pong is now free on mobiles too, but the console versions of both games will remain premium. All the best.

About than Anime Lines effect.
At first I wanted to add a full Boost effect making everything on screen become white-black-yellow-pink colors. But I didn't figure out how to handle balance with this kind of effect, especially when there are red and blue balls on the screen. I decided to keep this feature for the future when or if I have an idea of how to handle it properly.

v.1.2.1 - Bug Fixes & Small Changes

  • Hitbox adjustment - increased size from 50% to 60% from the original size
  • Fixed language setting bug, where it may displayed the wrong language

v.1.2.0 - Balance Update

Hello everyone!
This time I tried to tweak balance to make it easier to play on a Hard difficulty and to make the gameplay as fun and challenging as possible.

Balance Changes

  • Overall speed of the balls is decreased
  • Hitbox is now 50% smaller (visually it stayed the same, but physically it's now smaller)
  • Removed can't-hit-after-miss cooldown
  • Hitting empty hitbox is now the same as missing the ball
  • HP loss after missing the ball became smaller and HP gain after hitting the ball became higher

Bug Fix

  • Fixed boy animation bug, when he could be frozen at one frame

It's a very important update for me, because I'm not very strong at gamedesign and tweaking all those numbers. I hope the game will be better with those changes.
Feel free to share your opinion on these changes here on Steam or on our Discord server.

Have a nice day!

v.1.1.0 - Huge UI Update

Hello everyone!
Huge update is here. Let's do a quick overview of it!

User Interface

Colors

Every piece of interface now consists of one or more of 4 main colors - pink, yellow, black and white.

Shapes

Clickable items have almost-parallelogram shape. Other non-interactable pieces, like backgrounds or additional graphics, have similar shape. But some of them are different, like this lighting-shaped Settings menu.

Animations

When you open another part of the main or gameplay menu, it will have a short transition animation.

New Languages

I've added 3 new languages to the game - Japanese, Korean and Traditional Chinese. Every game looks immediately cooler when it has Asian languages!

P.S.

There is still a lot of work to do to make this game much better. Bug fixes, balance, VFXs.
Since the last year I started working in a gamedev company, so I don't have much time to work on Kovox Pitch and Lofi Ping Pong. But every time I have a free evening, I sit down to work on my games.

My next goal is to make a balance patch - the thing that I never considered important in my games, but now I do.
I hope you're doing great, have a nice day! And don't forget to join the Discord
