Hello, thank you to all who have played Laedomanes.
Although I have been developing games for a while now, Ladeomanes was the first game I released on Steam so it will always be something special to me.
When the game was first released, there were some issues due to a handful development decisions which made the launch bumpy. Although the issues were fixed with subsequent updates, the game never recovered from the rough launch and failed to develop a community. However I am still proud of the game and thankful to anyone who has given it a chance.
I am moving onto the next stage of my life and I think it would be best to retire Ladeomanes from Steam considering I will not be able to actively update the game.
Anyone who purchased the game will still have access to the game as it will persist in their Steam library. I do not have an exact timeline for the retirement but it will most likely be in days or in a week's time.
Again, thanks to anyone who tried the game.
Wall Jump Rework, Off-Screen Indicator, Level Completion Time and more
This update addresses most of the gameplay issues players have reported over the last 2 weeks and some new additions.
Updates:
Reworked wall jump mechanic to make them more fluent, increased wall jump velocity. Removed a feature that would allow the player to perform multiple wall jumps from same wall.
Added off-screen active level goal indicator, removed the directional goal compass.
Added active game time UI display. Level completion times are now recorded and shown in logs for travel mode games, campaign menu displays total campaign completion time. The campaign levels must be completed again in order for the completion time to show if they have been completed prior to the update.
Significantly increased player’s Air control to allow for more precise movement.
In favor of accessibility, the animated horizontal line effect has been removed from the UI to make the UI more readable.
Adjusted enemy collisions to make it easier to jump on them. Fixed an issue that would sometime prevent the player from jumping immediately after colliding with an enemy.
Level hazards and enemy Attacks have their radius adjusted to increase the threat level. Adjusted enemy behavior to moderately increase difficulty level of normal mode games.
Reduced player’s health to 5 hit points at base level and 7 hit points once upgraded.
Slightly increased Oxygen consumption rate for both normal and hard mode.
Update - No more Hands in the way, anti Nausea measurements and more...
Hello everyone, first at all thanks for playing Laedomaens and also for providing feedback. This update focuses mainly on the feedback received from the community over the past month.
Player Character's Arms have been removed from the game
The most consistent feedback from the community has been that the player's arms are distracting and should be hidden. Since they serve no gameplay purpose and is there just for the aesthetics, I have decided to get rid of them.
Player camera height adjustment, motion and smoothing reduction, FOV increase
The player's camera has been given a lift to make it feel further away from the ground.
The passive camera sway motion that was applied whenever the player made a turn has been removed. Although it was quite subtle, it contributed to the feeling of motion sickness so it had to go.
The camera FOV has also been increased to make sure the player's perspective does not seem too "close". Also previously the FOV was passively adjusted based on the movement speed, this feature has been removed as it also contributed to the nausia.
The camera smoothing has been drastically reduced to ensure quick and accurate camera rotation by the player.
Crosshair
Added a small Crosshair to help with alignment and focus.
Jump and Wall Jump adjustment
Reduced the jump's Z velocity and made it so that jumping from ground now functions fully based on player's current velocity meaning the player now has complete control over the jump distance. Also adjusted the wall jump parameters to give more headway for successful wall jumps. The wall jump cooldown has also been reduced.
Movement speed and ground friction adjustment
Increased player's movement speed and ground friction to eliminate sliding movement.
VSync default setting
Changed the default setting for VSync from enabled to disabled.
Alongside these, there are some other minor changes. I will try to keep the game updated based on the community feedback, thanks everyone.
