Alpha 1.00 launched!
Sup gangstas!
We have now launched Last Gang Standing into Alpha 1.00 early access! There's been some pretty significant changes since the last pre-alpha release, here's a brief rundown:
New Map
The previous Industrial Zone map was good enough for testing out features but it wasn't fit for a full scale gang war. To rectify this a new 'hood has been opened up for us to run wild on the streets. It isn't fully revealed yet, some of the newest parts have been fenced off while we wait for the paint to dry, but you can still explore a lot of it today!
New Threads
The third person player outfit and animations have undergone a complete makeover! You can customize your look and accessories in the main menu. We've only raided a few thrift shops for threads so your options aren't quite the best at the minute but that's nothing a real gansta can't fix shortly!
Reputation Tracking
A reputation system has been added! This shows players reputation level and gives a general idea of how many gang wars they've been through in the past. It isn't directly tied to progress as of yet but it gives a general indicator of who you should fear and who you could crush easily.
New Threats
Shortly after opening the new district there has been reports of an unknown actor building these small outpost bases in the area. Who this is, what their goals are and what this means for our own operation is yet to be determined. These things are hostile to us and full of turrets that shoot on sight so we suggest you go kick 'em over if you see one.
New Doors
Doors? yeah doors! previously doors were indestructible but anybody could open them at any time, forcing you to block them off with your own structures. Now they are claimed by your gang and will only allow members through. Be careful though, they can be broken down now! (and of course repaired with your standard repair gun)
Gameplay tweaks and bug spray
jetpack now quickly arrests downwards velocity
rocket launcher has received some tweaks including better missile sound/visuals and a slight buff to anti structure damage
fuel cans are now volatile and will explode into flames when destroyed
if a player faction is disbanded their structures are now abandoned instead of removed, abandoned structures can be reclaimed by placing another base core near them
players respawning on the streets can no longer spawn inside a hostile factions territory
added EMP sink structure, build it near other important structures to protect them from EMP attacks
the hologram system for building has been improved and extended to be more user friendly
structures now drop scrap materials when deconstructed
structures with no cost no longer drop a bugged material bundle
That should more or less be all, happy fighting gangstas and stay tuned for the next update!
Alpha release early testing
Greetings Gangstas!
The streets have been eerily quiet for a couple of months now, between my day job being super busy (yeahhhh school holidays) and the size of the incoming update for alpha 1.0 early access I feel like I may have bitten off a little more than a lone dev can chew.
The original October 10th release had to be bumped back until the 24th and even then I feel like I'm running the schedule down to the wire but I think we'll make it as long as nothing breaks down too badly!
Anyways, the main purpose of this pre-release is to test both the SQL data system the new steam lobby system. The previous lobby system was always at least half broken, you either had dedicated servers or home hosted servers working but it was never possible to have both. That meant the "host game" button wasn't working and basically just dropped you into single player. This new system should work for both cases.
As for the SQL stuff you will notice that all players now have a level and can gain XP by killing other players and destroying other factions structures. This level isn't directly tied to progression and doesn't do anything other than give a general indicator of how likely you are to cop a beating if you pick a fight with a given person.
I won't say too much yet but the actual progression system should be rolling out in the final alpha 1.0 release!

Junkyard Raiders Update
Structures now cost resources to rebuild if they have been destroyed
Destroyed structures now drop lootable resource bundles equal to ~80% of their value that can be picked up by anybody
The number of turrets and defences your base can support is now limited by your base cores CPU, no more mega bases with 100 turrets
Increased scavenger station cap from 4 to 6 to cope with the increased demand for resources
Fixed destroyed structures not showing their HUD element
Holding a Repair Gun in your base will now highlight all nearby damaged and destroyed structures so you don't have to run around looking for them
