Last Tide: BOOM! - Update & Devblog
Last Tide: BOOM! - Update & Devblog
We're excited to release the BOOM! Update and talk about our plans! A huge thank you to everyone for supporting us in Early Access and all the feedback you've given us. We've been listening closely and will be working our hardest over the coming months to address your concerns and help bring your ideas to life.
New Weapon: Bang Stick
We've got a new weapon in Last Tide, say hello to the Bang Stick! A spear with an explosive tip. Jab it into a shark and blow it up from the inside out!
The Clam Shop opens for business!
We've created a basic cosmetic store which allows you to spend your hard earned Clams! To kick things off we've created five Divepod skins, so get ready to pimp your ride! We'll continue introducing new types of cosmetics and ways to spend your Clams, and would love to hear what you want to see next.
Leaderboards
We've been recording stats since launch and now we have a way to view them! Check out how you stack up against other divers on our leaderboards website! We'll be working on creating more robust leaderboards with more stats and features over the course of Early Access!
About Server Regions
Last Tide is an international game and we completely understand that everyone wants servers as close to home as possible. Our development team is based in New Zealand so we look forward to being able to open an Oceanic server region to better enjoy the game ourselves!
We're really happy to have such a healthy North American region running 24/7 and always full of players! With about an 80% review score so far, we're really excited to see that players are so happy with Last Tide so far. We'll continue to consistently improve the game and advertise to bring new players into the waters to help Last Tide grow!
Unfortunately our European region is not as consistently populated, so we are thinking hard about how to tackle this problem before expanding into more regions such as East Asia and Australia. We have had a number of ideas, such as introducing a smaller variant game mode for 15-30 players to help populate and make Last Tide playable in growing regions. Another idea is introducing bots to play against. Tell us what you think would be best!
Cheaters in Last Tide
We've seen your concern over cheaters in Last Tide, and what we're going to do about them. We prefer not discussing details of how our anti-cheat works as cheaters may use that information, but we've been swift in already banning several cheaters thanks to our current anti-cheat system and the reports you have sent in! We are working on getting VAC up and running soon, and will continue improving our internal anti-cheat to keep Last Tide cheater free.
VOIP
Lacking ways to communicate with your teammates in a tactics focused game is definitely frustrating! We've started implementing a voice chat system to talk with your squad, and hope to have it out this month!
Coming soon!

Hotfix #1
Thank you all so much for the feedback on the Shark Shield (Zone) timings and Matchmaker changes!
Shortly we will be rolling out a small hotfix, here is a preview of the changes to come:
Increased the amount of time for matches to start, this should allow for more high player count games with a little bit more waiting
If the player count is above 70 the first Zone is delayed until after the Boat Phase. (Same as pre-update)
The first Shark Shield Zone size has been increased when playing with less players.
Increased the amount of time before the first Zone collapses to give more time for looting.
Fixed issue that was causing the Bombing Plane to continue coming when the zone was really small.
Fixed new pod skins that were not rendering correctly
Fixed players that disconnected during warmup being counting toward total players
Fixed Spectator buttons disappearing when switching between players
