Patch notes:

  • Sandbox: corrected the texts in the World Map button tooltip, so that it'll give you a proper reason for not being able to enter the World Map.
  • Temporary turned off loading screens (so expect weird screen behaviours when loading maps) to narrow down potential causes of some rare, but still regular, crashes that do happen.

Patch notes:

  • Sandbox: "World Map" button on "Summit Temple completed!" screen will now be disabled if the current mountain has unresolved issues. This prevents pretty nasty bugs ^^
  • Sandbox: Added missing dialogue sequence after raising 7th Summit Temple (not counting Celestial Rise). For now, the dialogue is in English only, we'll translate it to all languages in the future.
  • Fixed debug information about save file version in our crash reporting system.
  • Added more debug information to the crash report in a very rare situation when the game crashes while cancelling a transport route - to help us investigate the issue, of course.

This hotfix addresses only one issue: thanks to the player's report, we found out that we made a pretty big oversight in the code responsible for switching maps in Sandbox mode. When switching maps, the game didn't use all the optimizations we made for the game load process, which resulted in longer load times and even the game eating all the computer's resources and crashing in some rare cases. This is now fixed.

Hotifx (ID 15837) is now live!

Patch notes:

  • The objectives UI panel now expands when advancing to a "Raise a Summit Temple" objective, to make the instructions for this objective visible.
  • Fixed issue with the game sometimes being detected as a VR game
  • Label "New scenario" above Plain Rock scenario removed - it's been here for a while now :)
  • Added some safety checks and more info into crash reports to help investigate a rare case of changing mountain in sandbox mode when it should be impossible.
  • Added more info into crash reports to help investigate a rare crash during loading an invalid save file.

Patch notes:

  • Fixed crash on Free build mode connected to updating research, which should not be happening there
  • Potentially fixed a crash connected to spawning a carrier on an invalid path
  • Some language tweaks in Japanese dialogues in Sandbox mode

Sandbox Update is now live!

Hello there!

The time has come for us to share our second major content update, featuring Sandbox Mode!

This is a big deal because this game mode is completely different from playing isolated scenarios on individual maps, which has been the main way to play the game up to this point. But no more!

Sandbox Mode allows you to play simultaneously on multiple mountains, arranging them into an interconnected trading network.

We’ve described how it works in detail in our last post, but to highlight the most important points:

  • There is a World Map for switching between mountains, and you can do so at any time.
  • You start with a few mountains unlocked, and can gain access to the next ones after building Summit Temples.
  • A raised Summit Temple grants you a +1 bonus to the research level across the entire kingdom.
  • Selling resources on one mountain allows you to import them to any other mountain settlement.
  • Six new mountains!

The Sandbox Mode, as the name suggests, is all about playing freely and expanding your kingdom in whatever way you see fit. Therefore, we’ve only added a few tiny story bits and a single global objective to provide a general sense of purpose. However, you can simply ignore them if you prefer. :)

This game mode also illustrates quite well what we have in mind for the campaign – essentially, a more “directed” sandbox experience with more detailed objectives (similar to what you’ve seen in the Scenarios).

We don’t intend to make you wait for this for ages – we expect to release the Laysara 1.0 version with campaign mode later this year. :)

But for now, we hope you enjoy the Sandbox as much as we did testing it!

Cheers!
Quite OK Team

Sandbox mode - a sneak peek into the next content update!

Hello there!

It’s been a little while since our very first content update (featuring the new Ice Altars!), and guess what? We’re getting close to releasing the second one!

This content update will introduce a brand new game mode: Sandbox!

Sandbox Mode

This game mode differs from the existing ones in two major ways:

  1. There are no specific objectives guiding your actions - you're free to choose how to develop your cities!
  2. You’re not building an isolated town on a single mountain; instead, you’ll establish multiple settlements on different mountains within the same playthrough!

Let’s zoom in and see how this works.

After starting a new sandbox game at your desired difficulty level, you’ll be presented with a World Map:

Here, you can see the mountains currently available to you and select one as the starting point for your kingdom. New mountains are then unlocked by conquering the mountain peaks and raising Summit Temples, so that will be your main focus.

Here’s what your kingdom could look like after raising a few of them:

Important note: You’re not obligated to "complete" a map fully before starting building on another one. You can enter the World Map at any time and visit one of your already available mountains to either start a new town or continue developing an existing one!

Now, let’s talk about the next missing piece of the puzzle that makes developing multiple towns on different mountains at the same time worthwhile.

Trading between cities

This feature has been in our plans for ages, and we’re excited to finally have it in the game!
In Sandbox mode, you can only import surplus resources that you’ve previously set to export via Trading Posts on other mountains. Once you start selling resources, they’ll be listed as ‘Available to Import’ on the World Map:

Only then can you start importing them from a Trading Post on any mountain!

As you can see, this mechanic essentially means you’ll be building an entire network of cities connected by trade. There’s no need to produce every single resource on each mountain - simply set up a large production district, export the goods, and use them on other maps! And while doing so, don’t forget about Ice Altars, which truly show their production-boosting potential in this game mode.

New mountains

The last big chunk of this update is new mountains, which will be available in both Sandbox and Free Build game modes.

To ensure Sandbox offers a fresh experience, we’ve added not one, not two, but six brand-new maps!

As always, each of them has unique characteristics, such as zone layout, resource deposits and water availability, and avalanche danger level. These differences become crucial, as you can import what’s hard or impossible to obtain on any given mountain, and export goods that you can produce in abundance.

That summarizes what you can expect from the next update! While we’re finalizing working on it…

We need you again!

Soon, we’ll be asking you to test the update before it goes public - interested in getting early access? Head over to our Discord and claim the EA Tester role! We’ll notify you when the update is available for testing :)

Have a great day, everyone!

Hotifx (ID 14997)

It addresses some issues that started occurring after the Ice Alter Update.

Patch notes:

  • Fixed crashes on building/moving a house due to a bug in filters' code
  • Fixed crashes on map startup due to nondeterministic initialization of weather sounds
  • Fixed the non-appearing "Continue" button on the Objectives Panel after providing all necessary resources to the Summit Temple if doing so without completing previous objectives.
  • When sending resources from any Post to the Base Lift Station, only a necessary number of resources are being sent, not all of them.
  • Fixed issue with weird cursor offset.
  • Removed the hardcoded maximum number of resources possible to trade in a single Trading Post (okay, actually, we changed it from 200 to 5000 - but don't tell anyone!).
  • Fixed displaying negative values of a number of needs to fulfil for house upgrade in the upgrade button tooltip.
  • The Golden Genie challenge is now harder, it requires a money balance of 1500, and 2000 on the harder version to beat (previous values were 1200 and 1600 respectively).
  • Removed Monks need for living in the High Zone in challenges on Hopespark Hill, because it doesn't have a High Zone.
  • Avalanche Inducer is no longer possible to build in challenges on Hopespark Hill, because avalanche power never rises there.
  • Mint is no longer possible to build on maps without gold veins or the possibility of importing gold.
