First, there are now more Encounter Rate options to provide finer tuning for how often you have battles. You can toggle through the different rates using the 'Q' and 'Z' keys.
Second, the 'Q' key will raise the encounter rate. The 'Z' key nows reduces the encounter rate.
Previously, they both increased the rate and it looped back to no encounters once you reached the max encounter rate. Not exactly great. So hopefully this is a little more convenient and intuitive.

Small Update - Added support for additional fonts
The game now supports three additional TrueType fonts:
Sarasa Fixed J
UD Digi Kyokasho N-B
BIZ UDGothic
If these fonts are installed on your system they should be selectable from the Font submenu.
However, the game engine depends on system specific search paths (meaning the fonts must be installed to be available to the game). So results may vary on different systems.
If you're having trouble with fonts, let me know on the Steam discussion board. I'm trying to put together a troubleshooting guide that will help people quickly resolve any such problems.

Update - Fix to eliminate clipped text for any font
The game "supports" a number of fonts, but some of them don't work as well as others.
That is to say that when you use some fonts, you'll sometimes see text getting clipped off at the end of a message box as seen here: https://imgur.com/a/xetN7L4
The hope is that the latest update resolves this issue for all supported fonts.
I'm a little nervous about this update as this change has far reaching impacts, so please reach out to me here, Twitter, or by email at contact@studybunnygames.com if you experience any issues.

Small Update - More control of your learning
The latest update contains an additional menu control called "Level 1 Capacity". https://imgur.com/a/P1rSBkX
If you've ever leveled up a bunch of level 1 hiragana/words all at once, you may have felt a bit overwhelmed at the end of the battle when you learned an equal number of new hiragana/words.
By default "Level 1 Capacity" is set to 7. You can now take it down to 5 which may be more manageable for some people. In other words, rather than learning 7 new words/hiragana in parallel, you should never be faced with more than 5.

Small Update - Skipping Boss Battles
You can skip non-random/boss battles any time now by flipping the enemy Encounter Rate to the lowest setting using the Q or Z keys. Formerly, this setting just impacted the frequency of random battles.

Auto Accept in Battles - New Feature!
With today's update, you will no longer have to press to submit correct answers in battles. If you enter the correct answer in the entry box, the game will automatically accept the answer.
If you don't know an answer, you still press to move to the next hiragana/word.
We hope you enjoy this new feature!

New Steam store/library art, small fixes, and news of an upcoming update
Hi everyone!
Updated art We've updated most of the Steam library and store art with new background art. Hope everyone enjoys!
Small fixes The current update just contains a group of small fixes to prevent potential soft locks and other such issues.
Future update A community member suggested removing the need to press the Enter key to submit answers in battles. Instead, the game could continuously check the text entry prompt for the correct answer and automatically accept it. That would save everyone time and keystrokes, which we think is a good thing! We'll try to add this feature soon.
Keep your suggestions coming (via the discussion boards, Twitter, Discord, etc.) and happy learning!

Updated Battle Encounter Rate Graphic
Today I learned of a player whose battle encounter rate got set to maximum (a fight every step) without them realizing what was going on.
Today's update should ensure this never happens again.
Two changes: 1. The encounter rate graphic is now more self-explanatory 2. The encounter rate graphic will remain on screen when set to the maximum setting
