So, after a very long hiatus (my apologies), we've decided to give a final push to the game and finish the last promised features to leave it ready for its final release.
Here you have the final roadmap image for the Early Access period for Legendary Eleven:
As you can see the last update has a major new feature: the Players Editor. You can now configure your teams the way you want. You can change the name and the physical appearance of every player in every team. You can also change their stats, but only to a certain degree: you can remove up to 10 points from any given stat. That means you can't improve players or make teams with all stats to 100. Actually, teams won't vary their overall stats, you just change how the points are distributed for different players.
I believe this is something a lot of you had asked for and it's something that can help improve the game considerably, particularly for those of you that want to play with your personal favorite players. Obviously, the visual appearance is limited to the options currently in the game, but still, I think it's a fun addition.
There are a few bugfixes too. And we may keep doing bugfixing if you point us to important bugs or things that are really worth fixing, even if the game is out of Early Access. Also, please, feel free to check out the new player editing stuff. We've done some testing but I'm pretty sure we may have left some bugs there.
I'd like to apologize for the time between the last update and this one. We started doing ports for Xbox One and PS4 and have been really busy until recently. I also want to make another announcement, particularly for those of you that purchased the game in Early Access. We're going to increase the price of the game for the final release. We want to set the same price for Steam as for the consoles where you have online multiplayer, but we'll keep the 9.99 price tag until the game sees the final release (probably by the end of February or very early March).
Before ending this final news update I wanted to say a huge 'Thank You!' to everyone that supported us during this Early Access period. I know we couldn't implement all the features you suggested but we tried to do our best to implement what we felt would help the most the game.
As usual, feel free to pour your thoughts in the forums or the comments section and I'll do my best to answer there.
Thanks (and happy Valentine's)!
Eduardo
Online Multiplayer in default branch
Hi,
How you doing? I have a relatively big update, if you haven't read the forums as of lately, the game has now online multiplayer in the main branch. We have had online multiplayer for a few weeks in the beta branch but have decided to move it to the default branch to try to get more people to give it a go.
The game mode is mostly thought for playing online with friends but you can try your luck online, although it's going to be really hard to find online opponents at the moment.
The game mode is still in beta so, please, let us know if you find anything weird or any errors while playing online. If you can record the errors when you see them that would be awesome, but just letting us know of what issues you encounter will help us greatly.
Hope you enjoy the new option and don't forget to let us know your opinion in the forums.
Best regards,
Eduardo
Update 3.5
Hi,
So we've decided to drop a bunch of improvements in between major updates because we feel they are very important, they include quite a few bugfixes for stuff we screwed in our last update and because they are mostly trying to be a response to your feedback and we'd like to hear from you again to know if you like the game better like this.
So, let me list the stuff we've added in this update (btw, the update has been posted both to the beta and normal branches so no matter whether you're playing online or offline you should see these):
New Legendary Games. We've added 6 new Legendary Games (some based on your suggestions) to reach a total of 20 Legenday Games which is a reasonable amount, IMO. As usual, feel free to leave your feedback on them.
Super Shots can now be disabled before a game or championship. Some of you have stated that Super Shots are OP and don't particularly like them. Now you can play the game without them if you want. Please let us know if there's something you'd like changed here.
Added lobbed pass through which can be executed pressing the modifier and the pass-through button.
Improved cross pass. When doing a cross pass from the sides of the pitch towards the attacking area the pass will be directed forward so that the attacker has to move and shoot not just stay there waiting for defenders to surround him. I believe this makes scoring that way a lot easier and more fun.
Improved shooting when the ball is idle. Right now shooting in the attacking area is a lot easier and smoother. We're trying to make sure that when you press B, even if you don't have the ball yet, the game understands you want to shoot as soon as you have the ball.
Improved sliding tackle so that it's easier to do in some occasions (for instance to steal a pass). We've also tweaked the stamina consumptions of both the steal and sliding tackle actions.
Improved positioning of players in throw ins to avoid them clumping together in an unnatural and useless way.
Slightly tweaked ball and player behaviour in raining and snowy levels. The ball now runs a bit slower in those levels and players tire a bit more easily to try to simulate the weather conditions better.
Bugfix: Issues with the stickers used by certain teams. We've also updated the teams that take place in the Legendary Game which were all over the place due to the last update.
Bugfix: Player names with non-English letters were showing incorrectly. Now they are showing just fine.
As usual, we'd like to hear from you. What do you think of the new changes? What stuff would you like to see improved further? What stuff do you like the best/worst from the game? What's your experience with online multiplayer (if you've tried it)? etc.
Best regards,
Eduardo
Online Multiplayer
Hi,
As promised in the last update, we've added multiplayer online to the game in the beta branch. In order to select it, you have to go to Preferences->Betas and pick the beta branch instead of the default one.
The feature is in a beta instead of the default version because we're not sure how stable the game is online or what bugs you'll find. We've done our best to try to minimize the bugs but we're sure there'll be many we haven't seen or guessed. That's why we'd like to ask for your help. If you see any bugs or would like to suggest any improvements for this game mode feel free to go to the forums to voice your opinion.
We hope you enjoy the feature, we know it's been requested by many of you.
Thanks!
Eduardo
Third Update: New Teams
Hi,
So here we are again! We're a bit late this time around, but we have lots of stuff for you. As usual, let's start with an updated roadmap for the next months:
Let's add some detail on the stuff we're adding with this update:
New Teams. We have 8 new teams: Austria, Bulgaria, Wales, China, Iran, Morocco, Tunisia, and Canada. With them we hope we don't leave any important team from that era out. Still, if you feel there's an important team missing in the game don't hesitate to shoot out in the forums.
UI Improvements. The most obvious UI improvement is the new goal UI that happens when someone scores a goal, but it's not the only one. We've slightly changed the scoreboard and the player UI (I believe I'm not forgetting anything else). Please feel free to give us your feedback on any of these changes and let us know if you like and whether you think we should have stuff like that for other game events such as corners, fouls, goal kicks, offsides, etc.
Revised stickers' buffs. We've reviewed the improvements that come out of picking certain stickers to balance things out a bit more. It's not a groundbreaking change, but every bit counts, right?
Bugfixing. We've done a little bit of bugfixing too, trying to improve on anything that wasn't working as expected.
So, in the end, this is a pretty meaty update but there is still more news! :)
We're working hard on the online multiplayer side of the game and we're hoping we'll have it working, in a beta version, by next week. As soon as we have it we'll share the news with you and will let you know what to do to try it out. We're eager to see what you think of the online multiplayer. It's still in beta, so it's likely to contain a bunch of bugs, so please, feel free to report anything unusual you experience while online.
Also, bare in mind online multiplayer is mostly thought to play with friends, not with strangers. We do support that, but we're focusing the game on playing with your mates online and we don't currently have plans to expand upon it.
I believe that's all I have to say for now. Feel free to join us in the forums or comment this update.
Thanks!
Eduardo
Second Update: Legendary Games
Hi,
We're back again with an important update for Legendary Eleven! It's been a few hectic weeks and we have been really busy, but we've added some stuff I believe you guys are going to appreciate. Let's start first showing the roadmap for the next months:
So, this update has a few things worth mentioning:
Legendary Matches. We've added a new game mode (we called it before mythical games) which basically sets up a scenario where you have to fulfill certain conditions to win. All scenarios are inspired in real life games that somehow made their mark in football history. This feature is still work in progress and we're open to adding more of these or modifying the ones that are there. Please, feel free to add your comments and suggestions in the forums.
Championship Difficulty. This was something that was suggested in the forums and we believed made a lot of sense. It was something we didn't think of when developing the championships but that definitely makes a lot of sense to have there.
Individual morale system. Morale and aggressiveness where a feature that scored per team. Now these stats are managed individually. Thus certain game events will affect more to the players that are close to the event. For instance, it makes sense that the forward that scores the goal gets more of a boost in morale than the defenders or the goalkeeper. Same with fouls, cards, etc.
Goalkeeper system for penalties. Until now you could do nothing during penalties when you didn't shoot. We've implemented a simple system to decide the side you want to jump. This was introduced in a minor update a couple of weeks ago but it's now better implemented.
Bugfixing. We've gone on with the bugfixing. We've fixed bugs in the goalkeeper system and we've also fixed other minor bugs across the game. Please, feel free to let us know of any bugs you see in the forums since we'll do our best to fix them ASAP.
We're planning on adding new features you've requested to the roadmap such as the ability to edit players to customize your teams and the ability to play 2 players in the same team to do local co-op games. We haven't decided yet to do so but it's most likely it'll happen, although probably for an update in September.
In any case, feel free to leave your comments and suggestions in the forums, they are much appreciated.
Best regards,
Eduardo
First update: Chinese, Arabic, penalties and the roadmap!
Hi,
This is Eduardo, from Eclipse Games. I wanted to make the most of the first update to Legendary Eleven: Epic Football and use it to tell you, not only what we've added (before the game is actually released) but also what's our roadmap for the future.
Let's start with the roadmap:
You can see we have quite a few features planned for the next 3 months. Please, please!, consider this is a plan that will need to adjust depending on the circumstances. As such we'll go updating this roadmap as we go. This is NOT written in stone.
Things can delay (or could be earlier but that's unlikely) and we can change these features or their priorities (and thus their order) based on your feedback.
With regards to your feedback, please guys, feel free to post in the forums any feedback or suggestions you may have. We're going to be monitoring the forums trying to answer as quickly as possible to everyone and we're definitely gonna have your opinions in mind when planning what to do for future builds. We really value your opinion, so feel free to voice it in the forums.
Now on with the features:
Chinese and Arabic translation. We have localized Legendary Eleven: Epic Football to Chinese and Arabic. We hope to make the game more accessible to everyone. We wanted to do it earlier but just couldn't manage it before so it goes in the first update (and thankfully before launch!).
Penalty shooting improvement. We were not happy with how penalties were shot. To be more accurate, we were not happy with how you play the goalkeeper in penalties. We think the shooting is ok (although maybe it could be improved adding effects for instance) but the goalkeeper part wasn't working. We've added its own part so that you have to first decide where to jump with the goalkeeper and then the shooter shoots. Also, if playing against another human the side you decide is not visible and thus it's easier to hide it from your mate.
Sound improvements. We have slightly modified some SFX such as the ambient sound, the steps or the tackle sounds when playing in raining or snowing weather conditions.
Bug fixing. We've fixed a few bugs we found that had slipped by.
I think this is all for our first update. As I said before, please, feel free to give us your feedback and your suggestions in the forums so that we can improve the game the right way.
