Legendary Tales August news with weekly deal!


Hello Urban Wolf Games fans.
It’s going to be long text. Take a cup of tea before read.

In the last announcement, I said, me and my team are going to have long vacation, but we didn’t have time to rest. Instead, we were focusing on thinking about our future.
What do we want to do? what can we do? what should we do? Make another VR game? Make a DLC for Legendary Tales?
Or can we even continue to develop VR games ever again? since this market is too tough for indie developers like us.
The fear ate us when we saw the reaction after release 1.0, maybe leaving the PCVR market is best way. Because we are failure here. That was what we thought.

And then suddenly you, the Urban Wolf Games fan, popped up in my head.
“Maybe concrete PCVR Legendary Tales fans will still back us up in the future.”
On top of that. we have PSVR2 gaming fans, the group like the oxygen!
We almost gave up the VR development and wanted to move to PC or mobile game development. But your hot, hot, hot love made us to consider once more.

We are indie developers; we never had enough money before and now. Maybe we don’t need big pocket of money, money is just a tool. But love, towards to our game is the Oxygen. We need them, we cannot live without gamers love. That is the source of indie development I believe.

So, I had to do something.
First, we did what we could do.
“Digging the possibilities and Research and Develop of the possibilities.”
And then divided into many options
At this point you have questions in your head. What does that mean?
It means we are currently working on to find a solution to stay in VR market.

The options I have come up with are below
1: Make a DLC
2: Quest port of course.
3: Make new VR game

1: Make a DLC
It’s not an easy task since we have the biggest problem: Legendary Tales is made with UE4 which is very outdated.
What if we upgrade into UE5? some of you may remember that during the development we have tried to upgrade into UE5 but we have failed. The reason was Chaos Physics problem which we can’t handle. It seems many of UE5 developers having same problem.
As I mentioned many times Legendary Tales uses very Physics intense. Even though, we use only 60~70% of performance of target platform for Multiplayer not like any other physics VR games (others use 100% because they are single).
So, if we make Single player only It’s fine to move on to UE5 but clearly, it’s not an option.
Instead, we need to find a solution either optimizing physics or make DLC with UE4 super fast.

The question is: is there enough people who want more boss and fights, adventure in Legendary Tales? And will they buy DLC? What do you think?

2: Quest port
Meta officially opened Quest market, any developer can apply the contents as Early Access, just can not expect to be exposed to all gamers on Quest store.
As some of you know Legendary Tales project itself originally started for Quest1 (That is why Legendary Tales is well optimized, all physics were already optimized for Quest1)
But Meta never accepted Legendary Tales for their market without clear reason years. But now maybe we could jump into Quest market by our own will.
If Legendary Tales was still in Early Access, then I wouldn’t care whatever Quest does. Because I want to be loyal to our PCVR gamers whoever supported Legendary Tales with their precious money.
As a gamer myself, I don’t like Indie developers who release their game to other platforms to grab cashes although it is still in Early Access. At least in this part, I do believe we have earned the trust from you.
We are currently proactively digging about this option.

The question is: Is there enough people who want Legendary Tales on Quest store? What do you think?



3: Make a new VR game
This also can be an option. Making a new VR game sounds what we could do! Since we have finished developing a VR game, now we are officially VR game company!
We know about VR game development better than before we started developing Legendary Tales. We can make more & different fun VR game if we jump in it.
But in another hand, we must worry about market size again, PCVR market is tough, some people still have problems with our price tag, although Legendary Tales offers way more game contents than any other VR game yet. That means we have to live in indie price tag forever. But then market is small. I don’t believe we could make VR game with more contents than Legendary Tales in the future if we should expect only this much of output.

If we make new VR game, then It will be a hybrid ( the game offers both of VR and flat-gaming ) game to expand our target audiences. I do believe we can pull it out right because we understand both gaming in the right position.
Does it sound like flat-game with VR mode? Don’t worry!
It will be opposite! It’s a VR game that support flat gaming. How it works?
We will see if we ever make new VR game. I have an idea for it. I know how to make gamers happy because I am a gamer :D

The Question is: are you interested in our new game?


I have made three different options for Urban Wolf Games future.
They are all different way to get to future, but they have common and once thing is clear.
All of them require a lot of time. We need a lot of time to explore the options.

The Question is: Can you wait for us and still support us in millions of years later?

We will dive into the adventure again to surprise you.

Hello, Legendary Tales Fans,

It is already May, the month of between Spring and Summer. How is it going with your gaming life?

After launching of Legendary Tales, we focused on bug fixing and maintenance. Still there are some bugs, but we feel main problems are gone now.
So, instead of many bug fixes, this time we have focused to make new weapon again.
Today, we have brought double edge spear and the Legendary weapon of it, which called Warglaive of storm.
I know many of you wanted this, so why not we make one? Haha.

As I mentioned months ago, now it’s time to take real rest. I really want to give entire my team long vacation since they worked really hard last years. I don’t want my team to have burn-out (include myself).
So, officially we are going to have long vacations soon (maybe start next week). I promise you that after these vacations, we will be fresh and new.
Oh, during the vacation, if there is serious problems, I will bring my team back to fix and will update the Legendary Tales. Don’t worry! (But only serious problems because its vacation!)
During the vacation, I will think about what to do, next step of the team. Where to move, what to do, maybe new game or update? Many things to think.
I am worrying about future but somehow, I am excited about next step of Urban Wolf team. What we can achieve in the future. Time to dig, brain-storming like I did before the Legendary Tales.

I really do believe we could have done this far because of your love.
Me and my team really appreciate it.

This love will be always stays in my heart and only grow bigger by time goes.

Hello Legendary Tales Fans,

Are you enjoying beating Skelis and found some good Legendaries and enjoy making your own builds?

During you are enjoying Legendary Tales, I have been in GDC and look around, expand my eye-sight.
I have met many VR devs there. Many of you know them, and I had good conversation with them.
Depends on person, subjects were different, but most of them were saying same things.
How VR market is tough for Devs, and then many of them said, We, Legendary Tales devs, have a guts.
$55 for Indie game was big move and big step and they said, appreciate what we have done for market.
They needed someone to break a barrier of price tag, and that is what we did.
At some point we will drop the price like any other games, but at least, at this point I am really proud of my decision for price.
It is now proven that with the quality game like Legendary Tales, Indie devs can pull out as long as gamers support devs.

There are tons of VR games and VR devs in wild market who need your love and support.
Such as Ancient Dungeon, Davigo, CyubeVR, OVRDark, and there are tons more.
Please consider to support VR devs by buying VR games if you like any VR game, they are working really hard.

Thanks to CyubeVR(PCVR, PSVR2) and OVRDark(PSVR2) Devs, they have provided Free keys give away for our game fans.

What is next move of Urban Wolf Games?
As I said before, we sunk money to develop Legendary Tales and I don't think we can recoup it.
We need more resources to make more contents, DLC, or sequal. That is lacking for us at this moment.
So, we are considering leaving VR industry entirely. Nothing is fixed yet, but we put many options on the table.
If we need to sell more, how about Meta? what if we release Legendary Tales on Quest store?
That is what we want because we do not want to leave the VR market, VR industry is where our Love belongs.
I am trying to talk with Meta, and let's hope we can make it.
Even it doesn't work, I promise you that I will do my best to find a solution to stay in VR industry.
(I am working on to find a solution, that is why I am super quiet on our Discord)
So, give us some room and time to manage things right.

Does that mean we will stop support Legendary Tales? Absolutely not. We will update Legendary Tales onward.

Hello, Legendary Tales Fans.

I wish you are enjoying Legendary Tales. Lately, I focus to get information about how people are playing Legendary Tales. Just after a week of launch, many of people said too hard, but now I see there are a lot of people say it’s good or even it’s easy now although almost none of difficulty is changed.
It makes me smile because my fundamental of VR game design is that “Make a VR game that gamer itself Level-up during the game play, not a Character level-up”

And then now many of you understand how to play VR game, why imagination is most important for VR game, make your character, make your own build with almost unlimited combinations with Stats, Skills, Items.
I am really happy many of you are talking about your own build. As a example, Glass Cannon build, I really like the build name.
After the game launch, I found that many of players want to make Mixed, Hybrid characters. You! have more imagination than I have expected! But then many people dropped their hybrid Character because of our system limitations. I was really sad, and as a game developer, I really wanted to support you, our Legendary Tales fans, with the way I could.
So, right after game launch, I planned new skill trees for you.

Today, I am glad to tell you that we have brought entire new skill tree set with 14 new skills for Hybrid character players!


So, now your imagination will get better and better and can enjoy Legendary Tales more!

On top of that, I am glad that now we support 6 different more languages (Italian, French, Portuguese-Brazil, Spanish, Polish, Czech) officially, on Steam and PSVR2 both!


Thank you for great community and help! We couldn’t push this far without your help and love.
A lot of translations are still Translator level but some of them are human translated :D
Also, Some German and Japanese are updated as well.
I didn’t know Legendary Tales can be changed this much in a Month after launch. But look at this how much we, you and us, together changed and it’s getting better only!

I expected another month at least but she just worked in the weekend as well even though she had a flu(Voluntarily!) because she wants you to enjoy Legendary Tales.
(What a great team! I really wish everyone get approval of long vacation from our fans. )

One last thing, there is 20% sale on Steam now. As I stated earlier, We couldn’t set release sale because of Steam policy (Can’t make a sale at least a month after increase the game price). Hello, Legendary Tales Fans

Already It has been a month since Legendary Tales Official release.
I feel time flies really fast. After release there were many bugs and suggestions from gamers and we were super busy, But it seems like we have done very well done. I mean after this patch list, bug list, we see things are calming down. I believe we could have done all this really fast and accurately. I appreciate all of you.



Also, I want to share the news that Legendary Tales is now officially announced #1 selling game on PSVR2 in launch month (March-2024). I was worrying about price tag before the launch but guess it was not necessary to worry, based on what we see, market accepted price tag and I hope it worth the price for you. Anyway I really appreciate all of VR game fans. We all made this together.
You are a one of us, who made this great history.

At same time, I still believe there are people who want to play our game, but hesitating to buy Legendary Tales because of Language barriers. So, we currently are focusing on Language support first. I hope we can deliver all Languages at same time for people from all of the world. Hang on tight!
And I wish more language support helps our Legendary Tales fans too.

There is a small news, me(BJ) and one of dev, will visit GDC 2024, Mon to Fri whole week. We want to see the world, how gaming industry is spinning around. We want to expand our eye-sight by seeing things. But at same time there is nothing to do much in GDC for us since we are just visiting. So, if anyone who visit GDC as a gamer, Dev, let me know. Maybe we can have fun time :D

Game Balance



  • Close Parrying Skill : Time limit changed 0.3 sec -> 0.7 sec
  • We found Close Parrying Skill Condition explanation was not clear, So we have been changed to :
  • Parry within 0.7 Sec of Taking Damage.
  • (Note: Also, we have found that text health recovery explanation is not clear, This will be patched next time with rework the this skill. Currently it works this way : you recover HP based on damage you are taken. You get 100 Damage and Close parry will recover Max-out 75 HP based on your Vit)



Bug Fix



  • During the multiplay, Client player could duplicate items via Sort system – Fixed
  • Put Item directly into Decomposer feature is now entirely removed. Player now only can put items via UI.
  • (Note : We found people throw items around in the town and see Items disappearing suddenly and never know why. Especially it happened with Legendary Axe : Iron Slicer many times.)
  • Frigid blast increased elemental Resists, It was entirely our fault bugged – Fixed
  • Holding Goblin Servant by hand made Goblin Servant floating in the air – Fixed
  • Goblin Shaman didn’t stay own place when player attack Goblin Shaman from out-side and Goblin Shaman never return to the place – Fixed
  • Player could get into Cursed totem – Fixed



Third weekly patch after 1.0 update

Hello, Legendary Tales fans.
Third patch Is now available. (Already pushed)
From the 1.0 update, we have been working to solve problems our fans have ASAP for the clean game experience for our fans.

As always, we have brought some features that our fans asked. Such as Inventory organize, enemy HP UI on/off feature for better immersion, added “!” mark to own Graveyard only to find it easy and more. I really appreciate all your feedback and as always, we are happy to help you, our fans and gamers.

**Since last update, many of Steam users have written reviews, some of them changed their opinions. Because people changed, updated their opinions on Steam review, now new users can have up-to-date information about the game, and it actually helped our sales a bit! I guess they read your reviews, I believe I meant something. I really appreciate your help.
We are still mostly positive on Steam, I know we can’t make everyone happy, but if you are satisfied, please concern to write review on Steam to help us. **

Also, Let me remind you, There is Legendary Tales OST is published on Steam. Some people ask me how to support Legendary Tales project and us. Buying OST is easiest way to do it.
(And we don’t need to pay 5% of royalties to Unreal Engine for OST sales!)

Following the last announcement, we are currently working on Localization for many different languages. Thanks for great community! Many of people working on it voluntarily and they never stop it, if you look at Japanese channel, they are working on it as a great team and making Legendary Translation I believe.
As a result, we could support these languages in the future: English, Korean, Japanese, German, French, Spanish, Polish, Brazilian Portuguese, Czech.
(It is not final list, depends on how it goes, can be vary at the end)
Based on what I see. some of them are just translator level of Localization, but still, I think it means a lot for some our fans in the world.

To support new languages, we need to focus on texts, it needs a lot of time and when it is finished, it needs Full QA again to support new languages on PSVR2. It means we can’t push any update until we finish Localization.
So, we can’t push any update anytime soon even there is serious problem anyone find during this period.

Hello, our fans.
Our first patch is now available.
After our holiday, we started to work again on this Wednesday.
We only had 3 days to fix and add every feedbacks we got after 1.0 launch.

It was not enough time but we ground ourself to bring it to you, people who enjoy our game, want to enjoy our game but can't, and/or hesitate to buy our game,
I am happy to say, this update includes hold-grip method that many people waited. Especially, Index players, I really want to say sorry for you that you couldn't play our game properly last few days.
But now you can enjoy the game!
Also we have fixed WMR controllers as well (But need test, give us feedback if you have problem)
+ many bug fixes and features suggestion from our community.

Windows MR problem fixed (Test and feedback needed from gamers, Don't use steamVR as OpenXR default, Please use WMR app as default! otherwise doesn't work)
Valve Index, Vive Controller - Default hand position changed
Valve Index, Vive Controller - Button image changed
Valve Index, Vive Controller - Due to OpenXR vibration problem, It is temporally off.



Game Balance



Mana shield - Player gets speed up buff after Mana shield is broken by enemies attack.
Mana shield - Mana cost per damage is reduced from 0.5 to 0.1
All dash skills mana cost from 10 to 5 (Based on feedbacks)
Long dash skill move distance is increased from 3.5m to 4.5
Boss : Lanista - HP and Damage is reduced (Based on what I saw on community)
Boss : Necromancer - HP is reduced (Based on what I saw on community)
Challenge mode - Enemies attack damage is slightly increased
Players now can parry all projectiles (Thank you for feedbacks!)
The Everchanging Quest item drops all the time
