Legion TD 2

v11.11 Major Update

Expected patch release: Monday, December 9 (Pacific Time)

News

Major Updates

Happy Holidays!

A treacherous snow queen has cast a spell over the world of Legion, and it's all frozen over! But fear not...she's actually not treacherous. She just wanted everyone to get in the holiday spirit! On top of the snow-covered landscape, you'll find Christmas trees, presents, colored lights, snowmen, stockings, candy canes, and more goodies around the map. Enjoy the fresh look for Legion TD 2 while you eat Christmas cookies and hopefully spam some games over the holidays!

The snow queen promises to lift the "eternal" winter next patch, when Season 2025 starts. You can toggle decorations in Options if your PC is struggling to contain her power.

Mythium Gate (2v2)

Improved consistency & responsiveness of when the gate opens

Masterminds

Cash Out
Bonus starting gold: 20 → 21

+1 gold buff, which in the context of Legion, means we’re going from C tier to A.

Champion
Attack speed and damage reduction: 9.5% → 10%

Champion's been one of the worst-performing masterminds for the past year, and we regret that. Here's a much-needed buff.

King

- Base attack and flat Lightning Hammer damage increased by 15%
- Giant Slayer: Percent health damage: 2.5% → 1.8%
- Lightning Hammer: Percent health damage: 2.5% → 1.8%

Weaker against boss waves. Stronger otherwise.

Fighters

Peewee / Veteran
Booster / Stimpack: Attack speed bonus: Additive → Multiplicative

Attack speed buffs now behave more expectedly.

Fire Archer
Attack speed: 0.99 → 1.01

Fire Archer has been a historically underutilized unit. We can’t buff it too much because the Bone Warrior line is already strong.

Dark Mage
Attack range: 400 → 600

Dark Mage often died too early with its short range.

Bone Crusher
Health: 1110 → 1090

Slightly high pick rate and win rate.

Masked Spirit / False Maiden
Attack speed: 1.06 → 1.09

Low pick rate and win rate.

Hell Raiser
- Attack speed: 1.06 → 1.09
- Tantrum: Attack speed bonus: Additive → Multiplicative

Attack speed buffs now behave more expectedly.

Gargoyle
- Health: 330 → 320
- Attack speed: 0.9 → 0.885

High pick rate and slightly high win rate. This unit singlehandedly allows some openings to get an extra worker by wave 3.

Orchid
Shuriken Cyclone: Attack speed bonus: Additive → Multiplicative

Attack speed buffs now behave more expectedly.

Alpha Male
- Health: 2650 → 2700
- Damage: 101 → 103

Now more alpha. Low win rate.

Warp Wing / Void Manta
- Damage increased by 5%
- Plasma Decay: Damage reduction: 4 → 3

High win rate and particularly oppressive in the early game.

Deathcap
Damage: 30 + 0.06% max health → 31 + 0.07% max health

With the introduction of Honeybear, Deathcap was indirectly nerfed. Low win rate.

Millennium / Doomsday Machine
Attack speed: 0.606 → 0.595

High win rate.

Lord of Death
Mana regeneration increased by 5%

Low win rate.

Hades
- Conjure Thanatos: Mana cost: 60 → 55
- Mana regeneration increased by 5%
- Necromancy: Mana gain: 3 → 2
- Necromancy: No longer excludes Froggos

Let the summoner war begin.

Mercenaries

Brute
- Maul: Attack speed reduction against the king: 1% → 0.5%

Brute’s attack speed reduction made it too strong against the king, particularly in the late game.

Centaur
- Damage: 86 → 88

Low usage rate and win rate.

Waves

Wave 6: Rockos
- Impale: Damage amplification against king: 2% → 4%
- Impale: Max stacks against king: 10 → 4

The king now takes more damage against small leaks and less damage against large leaks on wave 6.

Classic

Dual Building
Attack speed bonus to waves removed, and buff renamed from Haste to AOE Damage Reduction

While our goal isn't for dual building to become meta, it could use a buff to increase its viability.

Balance Watchlist

The dev team is constantly monitoring game balance, between looking at data and listening to community feedback. If anything is being more closely monitored than usual, it will be listed in this Balance Watchlist section. For this patch, the following are on the watchlist:
- Kingsguard

Minor Updates

- Big Play Announcements: Not Even Close is more responsive now. Also, if triggering Not Even Close and Power Play/Game Changer at about the same time, it will show both back to back.
- New Emoji: wirklich_zornig
- MVP Score: Various improvements
- Gold Remaining: Fixed a bug where if your Dwarf Banker/Big Wig was your last unit remaining, it didn’t update the correct estimated gold value
- 4K: Fixed a bug where certain game popups were uncloseable when using the UI Scaling setting
- Pathing: Fixed some rare cases of units being stuck
- Campaign Menu: Fixed some cases where the Play button was mistakenly hidden in certain languages
- Big Play Announcements: Fixed a false positive case for Not Even Close
- Double Down: Fixed a rare case where two stacks were consumed instead of one
- Campaigns: Nerfed Mama Mayra and Fabulous Freddy slightly

HUGE thank you to everyone who has helped up to this point!

Closing Remarks

This patch is relatively light, as we prepare for our big upcoming Season 2025 patch, but there's still a lot to be excited about! It'll be great to have Cash Out and Champion as more viable masterminds.

As always, with any major patch, we'll keep a close eye on things and rapidly hotfix as long as needed.

Thank you again for playing Legion TD 2! We hope you continue to enjoy the game.

If you've enjoyed the game, but haven't left a review yet, please consider posting a short (hopefully positive ) review for the game! If the game reaches 90% positive, Steam will give it more visibility = more players = more freelo better matchmaking!

If you enjoy these updates, please give it a Thumbs Up, too!

If you have constructive criticism, let's chat about it. Discord and /r/LegionTD2 on reddit are our main channels of communication, and aside from the development team, there are community helpers who can ensure your feedback is heard, as well as answer pretty much anything you've ever wanted to know about the game. If you want a guaranteed answer from the devs, the monthly AMAs on /r/LegionTD2 are your best bet.

Sincerely,
The Legion TD 2 Team

Ranked Season

Ranked badges and loading screen borders are based on your peak rating this season. You are not penalized for dropping below a tier you already achieved. Eligibility for each tier requires 10 ranked games and a peak rating this season of:

  • Bronze: 1000
  • Silver: 1200
  • Gold: 1400
  • Platinum: 1600
  • Diamond: 1800

  • Senior Master: 2400
  • Grandmaster: 2600
  • Legend: 2800

Best of luck in the final weeks of the season! Remember you cannot drop ranked rewards by playing. Rewards are based on your peak rank this season.

Ladder Points

Ladder Points (LP) are a measure of your overall presence on the ladder throughout the course of the year.

LP are earned for the first 10 ranked games per week. LP gain per game ranges from 10 to 100; more points are earned the higher rated you are.

Rewards: Every January, at the end of the ranked season, special badges are given to the top 1/10/25/50/100 LP earners based on their final LP rank. Then, everyone's LP is reset back to 0 for the next season.

  • GOAT: Top 1 LP
  • Raidboss: Top 2-10 LP
  • Champion: Top 11-25 LP
  • Pro: Top 26-50 LP
  • Elite: Top 51-100 LP

Top 10 Legion Players of All Time

3 years ago we celebrated the Top 10 Players of Early Access. Followed by the Top 10 Players of the 2022 Nova Cup Season. Now introducing the Top 10 players of ALL TIME!

18 voters, consisting of developers, moderators, casters, and streamers, submitted their top 10 lists. A Borda count (10 points for a first place vote, 9 points for a second place vote, etc.) was then used to determine the final rankings. While not perfectly scientific, it's a common ranking system used in sports, including the AP Poll for the past 90 years. Plus, it allows you to roast the voters you disagree with

The maximum number of points a player can receive is 180. Without further ado, here are the final rankings... in reverse order for maximum suspense!

10. fine

From the King of Division 2 to the King of Division 1. fine dominated the lower league of the Nova Cup for years before eventually climbing his way into the top league and winning multiple Nova Cups in Division 1. A clear case of practice makes perfect. He is the 5th-highest rated ladder player of all time. Trust in fine, and everything will be fine.

  • 25 points
  • 44% of top-10 votes
  • 1st in 7 Nova Cups, including Division 2

9. XGod37

The fastest climb in Legion history. After being ranked Silver in his first season, XGod had a meteoric rise to the top. Initially known for spamming Lock-In Proton, XGod proved he was more than a 1-trick by dominating both the ladder and tournaments with his high-income, carry playstyle. XGod and his duo Ashton Butcher were the only players to go toe-to-toe with Kingdanzz and Widderson in Season 2022.

  • 34 points
  • 56% of top-10 votes
  • 1st in 6 Nova Cups

T-7. Pennywise

Your favorite clown and caster. The only thing preventing him from winning tournaments is casting them. Penny and his duo BerntDasBROT both claim the other holds them back. He's proof that being a boomer doesn't mean you can't be good at video games. Penny has been a top player for the past 4 years, in addition to being a pillar of the community.

  • 48 points
  • 50% of top-10 votes
  • 1st in most tournaments casted

T-7. adames

The most consistently strong player of all time. adames is a wizard of the game and has been one of the best players for the past 7 years. One of the only players to be able to compete with Kingdanzz and Ashton Butcher during Early Access. Earlier in his career, adames was known for his Bounty Hunter opening, and more recently, his signature masterminds are Chaos and Redraw.

  • 48 points
  • 67% of top-10 votes
  • 1st in 1 Nova Cup
  • 1st in 2 LIHL seasons

6. Widderson

The most clutch tournament player. Widderson is one of the all-time greats. While he's plenty good on the ladder, he's best known for dominating the tournament scene. Crushed the LIHL with his duo adames and, more recently, Nova Cups with Kingdanzz. One of his super powers is learning the meta mid-tournament. Never bet against him.

  • 73 points
  • 72% of top-10 votes
  • 1st in 2 LIHL seasons
  • 1st in 10 Nova Cups

5. FC Lucy

The Queen of Legion TD 2. One of the best, both on the ladder and in tournaments. Lucy and her duo Drachir are known for storming onto the Legion scene after full release and being the only players to put an end to the dominance of Kingdanzz and Widderson. Even on her own, Lucy is a force to be reckoned with and sits atop the ladder.

  • 76 points
  • 72% of top-10 votes
  • Current rank 1 in ladder points in 2024
  • 1st in 7 Nova Cups

4. Aviator

The best ladder player of all time. Aviator is the inverse of Widderson. While clearly being a competitive tournament player and taking his fair share of wins in Nova Cups, Aviator is top dog of the ladder. With a peak rating of 3585, the matchmaker gives him a 98.92% expected win rate against a 2800-rated Legend player. Aviator doesn't follow the meta, he creates it.

  • 109 points
  • 1 first-place vote
  • 83% of top-10 votes
  • Highest peak rating of all time
  • First in 2 Nova Cups

3. Ashton Butcher

Pioneer of "income, carry, win" and the best ladder player of Early Access. When playing with Ashton, get in his backpack and enjoy the ride. In addition to dominating the ladder, Ashton has historically been one of the best tournament players of all time. Ashton is the Karpov to Kingdanzz's Kasparov. Undoubtedly one of the best, and the only real competition to Kingdanzz during Early Access.

  • 125 points
  • 2 first-place votes
  • 94% of top-10 votes
  • First player to hit 3000 Elo
  • 1st in 5 Nova Cups
  • 1st in 4 Masters Cups

The top two players in our ranking were the only players on every single voter's top 10 list. Drumroll please...

2. Drachir

The best player since full release. It's difficult to overstate how much Drachir has dominated both the ladder and tournament scene for the past two years. Him being this close to overtaking Kingdanzz in the vote is testament to how quickly and monumentally Drachir has become the best player in the game. He's so good that the final boss of the Floating Isles campaign is named after him. His opinions on game balance carry the weight of 10 other Legend players. The only thing that carries more weight is his own creation Drachbot.

  • 148 points
  • 4 first-place votes
  • 100% of top-10 votes
  • Rank 1 in ladder points in 2023
  • 1st in 9 Nova Cups

1. Kingdanzz

The GOAT. See his name for proof. Kingdanzz is the greatest Legion player of all time—so good that the final boss of the Crystal Coast campaign is named after him. Even when he's taking a hiatus from Legion to hit rank 1 in other games, Kingdanzz is never considered an underdog. Kingdanzz on a 2-month break vs. the current rank 1 Legion player? Bet on Kingdanzz. During Early Access, Kingdanzz dominated the ladder, often being 300 rating above the rank 2 player. He also dominated every tournament—to the point where even taking a game off him in a best-of-5 was considered an accomplishment. After full release, he found some much-needed competition, but continues to be the GOAT.

  • 162 points
  • 11 first-place votes
  • 100% of top-10 votes
  • Rank 1 in ladder points in 2022
  • 1st player to hit Grandmaster
  • 1st player to hit Legend
  • 1st in 10 Nova Cups
  • 1st in 7 Masters Cups
  • 1st in 1 LIHL season

Others receiving votes: Tjuvis (21), BerntDasBROT (17), Bonny (16), Shadowings (12), Doofusmcdooface (11), johnyc (11), Jules (9), Boone (7), Saiya (7), MrSLICKINS (5), Isolde (4), Toikan (4), Aatrocity (3), Bear. (3), Greenspirit (3), Archaikum (2), Egekaer (1), Lisk (1), Maxim (1), Paweded (1), robie (1), Shea (1), Skovtrold (1). Honorable mentions: Pzig42, LForward

Voter Consensus

Before diving into individual ballots, let's judge the extent to which each voter agreed with the consensus. We'll consider two measures: first how many names in their ballot matched those in the final ranking. The second uses the following scoring system: 100 minus 1 point for each placement difference compared to the final ranking. For example, if a voter ranked Kingdanzz as 3rd, they would be penalized 2 points because he was 1st, not 3rd, in the final ranking. If a voter ranked Tjuvis as 5th, they would be penalized 6 points because Tjuvis was not in the final ranking. Anyone outside of the top 10 is considered to be in 11th place for the purposes of this scoring system. The following scores don't mean accuracy, but rather agreement with the consensus:

  1. Lisk: 10/10 matching names, consensus score of 90
  2. Drachir: 9, 91
  3. Jules: 9, 91
  4. Ofma: 9, 90
  5. BerntDasBROT: 9, 85
  6. Shea: 8, 91
  7. Pennywise: 8, 89
  8. Doofusmcdooface: 8, 84
  9. Schn3rd: 8, 81
  10. Tjuvis: 8, 79
  11. Schakara: 7, 77
  12. Snekkles: 7, 72
  13. Shadowings: 6, 83
  14. Danwulfe: 6, 81
  15. Dani: 6, 79
  16. Toikan: 5, 78
  17. Skovtrold: 5, 75
  18. ToHoCo: 5, 53

Team Sign-up Instructions

  • Sign-ups are open from NOW until November 23 9am PDT / 6pm CET.
  • To sign up, find a teammate and form a party. After you're both in the party, have one player type "/signup [team name]" (e.g. /signup Snail Kings) in chat. You should see a confirmation message that your sign-up went through. For those who participated in previous Nova Cups, you no longer need to do /join to signup.
  • The first 16 teams to sign up in each division can participate. For division 1 and 2 the top 8 teams are drafted per division. Other teams are waitlisted. There are usually no-shows, so waitlisted teams are encouraged to be present in the Discord and ready to play. View the team list to see your sign-up position and division.
  • If there are more than 32 teams checked in, there will be an additional best-of-1 qualifying round to allow more teams to participate. It is a best-of-1, rather than a best-of-3, to keep the event from running overly long.
  • Both players must join the Legion TD 2 Official Tournament Discord. Make sure to set your server nickname to match your in-game name.

Solo Sign-ups

  • You may sign-up as a solo with a suggested team name using the "/signup [team name]" command. Solo teams will be added to the Public Teams list, then be formed into teams on the day of the tournament. Solo teams will be randomly assigned a team name from either of its members.
  • If there is a waitlist, team sign-ups will always take priority over solo sign-ups
  • If you sign up as a solo, but then you find a teammate, you can re-sign up as a team any time before check-ins start. Just use the /signup command again with the new teammate. The tournament organizer will void your old solo signup after they process your new team signup.
  • After check-ins are over, all checked-in solo players will be randomly formed into teams by the tournament organizer. You cannot request a specific teammate at this point; if you want to play with a specific person, you should have signed up as a team instead.

It is still strongly recommended to sign-up as a team to guarantee your spot in the tournament and to give you time to practice with your teammate beforehand.

Game Balance

Read more about our design philosophy on game balance, and use drachbot to see mastermind, unit, and spell win rates and pick rates!

King
- Health now scales slightly exponentially, instead of linearly
— Net effect is -15% on wave 1 scaling to +15% on wave 21, with a breakeven point on wave 16
- Giant Slayer: 12% current health → 5% max health
- Lightning Hammer: 8% current health → 3% max health
- Upgrade Attack: 12.5% → 12%
- Upgrade Spell: 5.5% → 6%

Goals:
- Reward aggression and allow for occasional quick wins to happen in the early game
- Reduce 1-shotting in the late game
- Shift power slightly from Upgrade Attack to Upgrade Spell
- Buff the king against heavily damaged bosses and nerf the king against healthy bosses (previously, 2 low health bosses did significantly more damage than 1 high health boss)

Breaker Gold
- Increased from waves 16-21 by +10% scaling to +40%

This increases gold earned from breaking your opponent, which buffs non-lethal undercutting in the late game.

Legion Spells

Divine Blessing
- Attack speed: Additive → Multiplicative

Now behaves more expectedly on units with attack speed buffs built into their kits.

Giant Snail
- Health: 510 → 540
- Damage: 17 → 18

Last patch’s nerf was a bit too much.

Glacial Touch
- Damage: 50 → 45

Reverting the buff from a few patches ago. High win rate.

Magician
- Mana regeneration: 0.52 → 0.5

High pick rate.

Fighters

Howler
- Health: 360 → 350

Sunfang
- Health: 1990 → 1930

High win rate.

Bazooka
- Health: 320 → 300

Pyro
- Health: 1780 → 1750

Slightly high pick rate and high win rate.

Infiltrator / Orchid
- Shuriken damage: 37 → 40

Slightly low pick rate and low win rate.

Leviathan
- Health: 1730 → 1700
- Damage: 69 → 68

High win rate.

Iron Maiden
- Blade Storm: Damage reduction: 5 → 6

Low win rate. Also, compensation buff for changes to late game waves, which indirectly nerf Iron Maiden.

Warp Wing / Void Manta
- Plasma Decay: Damage reduction: 3 → 4

Low win rate. Also, compensation buff for changes to late game waves, which indirectly nerf Warp Wing and Void Manta.

Priestess of the Abyss
- Invigorate: Heal per second: 35 + 1.5% health → 10 + 3% health

Azeria
- Invigorate: Heal per second: 100 + 2% health → 20 + 3.5% health

Partially bringing back Priestess and Azeria’s synergy with health buffs. Nerf on their own (high win rate).

Soul Gate / Hell Gate
- Summons’ health increased by 3.5%
- Now lose 400 and 1040 health, respectively, instead of 20% max health each time a unit is summoned

Low win rate and pick rate. Now more viable with health buffs.

Banana Haven
- Health: 7700 → 7740
- Damage: 58x3 → 60x3

Compensation buff for changes to late game waves, which indirectly nerf Banana Haven.

Mercenaries

Small, across-the-board buffs to power mercenaries to nerf income-centric playstyles and reduce average game length.

Robo
- Health: 420 → 430
- Attack speed: 1.25 → 1.28

Brute
- Health: 840 → 860
- Damage: 54 → 55

Hermit
- Healing Aura: 7 (14 for bosses) → 8 (16 for bosses)

Imp
- Health: 730 → 750
- Attack speed: 1.06 → 1.07

Safety Mole
- Health: 1500 → 1550
- Damage: 72 → 74

Pack Leader
- Leadership Aura: 4 (12 for bosses) → 5 (15 for bosses)

Mimic
- Health: 2270 → 2330
- Damage: 115 → 118

Honey Bear
- Pot O Honey: Heal: 600 → 650

Witch
- Health: 1500 → 1550
- Damage: 80 → 82

Ogre
- Health: 2800 → 2870
- Attack speed: 1.11 → 1.13

Ghost Knight
- Health: 3800 → 3900
- Damage: 168 → 172

Four Eyes
- Health: 2500 → 2550
- Attack speed: 2.06 → 2.17

Centaur
- Health: 3920 → 4020
- Damage: 84 → 86

Shaman
- Blood Rush: 25 damage + 10% attack speed → 30 damage + 10% attack speed

Siege Ram
- Health: 5300 → 5430
- Damage: 266 → 272

Needler
- Health: 3750 → 3840
- Damage: 126 → 129

Kraken
- Health: 7450 → 7630
- Damage: 289 → 295

Waves

Wave 11: Quill Shooters

- Damage: 34 → 35

Wave 12: Mantises
- Health: 1290 → 1310

Wave 13: Drill Golems
- Health: 3450 → 3500

Small buffs to mid game waves to encourage aggression and reduce average game length.

Wave 18: Wale Chiefs
- DPS: 323 → 330
— Damage: 134 → 184
— Poison-Tipped Pole: 60 → 80
— Attack speed: 1.89 → 1.25

Wave 19: Dire Toads
- DPS: 250 → 255
— Damage: 150 → 230
— Attack speed: 1.67 → 1.11

Wave 20: Maccabeus
- DPS: 2150 → 2500
— Damage: 215 → 400
— Attack speed: 10 → 6.25
- Insatiable Hunger (0.16% heal and 1% damage) replaced with Feast (0.1% heal and 0.5% attack speed)

Wave 21: Legion Lord
- DPS: 342 → 350
— Damage: 205 → 350
— Attack speed: 1.67 → 1

With the addition of Feast, late game waves don’t need such fast attack speeds.

Classic

PvE
- Redraw, Lock-In, Double Lock-In, and all legions are now disabled
- The AI is now more likely to send power mercenaries

The meta in PvE is favorable towards value-generating units (Banker, Eggsack, Sakura, and Angler), as well as certain combos like raid boss Lioness. To address this, in PvE, we're disabling the masterminds that allow you to consistently access these units.

Also leaning into PvE as a more hardcore survival mode. Thanks to laserpewpewak for the suggestion!

Tower Defense
- No longer Chaos-only. Redraw, Lock-In, Double Lock-In, and all legions are disabled

Applying the same solution to Tower Defense. This increases build freedom in Tower Defense.

Game Balance
- Indomitable: Starts at 0 stacks and gains 3 stacks each wave → Starts at 2 stacks and gains 2 stacks each wave
- Double Lock-In: Starting gold: 235 → 220
- Reverted the classic-only Crab Warlock / Crabomancer nerf
- Reverted the classic-only change that prevented you from building Eggsacks on waves 21+
- Giga Mercs: Fixed a bug where Honey Bear’s heal wasn’t stacking

The Indomitable change will make more games end on waves 21 and 22. In addition to reducing average game length, this indirectly nerfs value-generating builds that benefit from more overtime waves.

Significant nerf to Double Lock-In, as it remains a community pain point. The data shows there are 1.4 Double Lock-Ins per game on average. With 8 players in the game, this isn’t too crazy, but it’s a bit high, especially since it makes games more repetitive.

We’re continuing with our strategy of avoiding (and reverting previous) classic-only unit balance changes. This increases build variety by introducing competition to current meta builds. As of this patch, there are zero remaining classic-only unit balance changes.

Systems
- Improved the accuracy of classic's matchmaker, particularly for classic games with ranked mains.
- Short classic games, especially ones that are forfeited, now have significantly reduced rating changes

Among other benefits, this means high-rated ranked players are much less likely to get bonus income when facing high-rated classic players.

Fixed an abuse case where a small number of players in classic were intentionally forfeiting games to lower their rating.

Balance Watchlist

The dev team is constantly monitoring game balance, between looking at data and listening to community feedback. If anything is being more closely monitored than usual, it will be listed in this Balance Watchlist section. For this patch, the following are on the watchlist:
- Redraw: This patch indirectly nerfs Redraw by reducing average game length, but it may need a direct nerf later. Let's see where it lands after this patch.
- Millennium

Fixes and Improvements

- Castle and Cartel: Fixed a bug where power score adjustments weren't being applied properly on wave 11
- MVP Score: Reduced weight of fighter value
- New Player Experience: Fixed a bug where XP gained sometimes didn’t properly update after a match. This was most noticeable for new players in the early levels.
- Forfeit: Now limits you to -ff’ing once every 20 seconds at most, to reduce cases of spamming
- Takeover Bots: Fixed some cases where the bot would run out of time to spend its gold if it took over with not much time remaining till the next wave
- Estimated gold: Fixed a bug where estimated gold remaining was sometimes incorrect in PvE, with Cartel/Castle, and with Venture
- Mini & Wumbo: Fixed a tooltip bug where upgrades had wrongly displayed gold costs on Wave 1
- Stability: Fixed some rare cases of units getting stuck

Major Updates

New Mercenary: Honey Bear

Honey Bear
  • Mythium Cost: 180 (Power Merc)
  • Role: Tank / Anti-AOE
  • Melee / Impact / Natural
  • Pot o’ Honey: Upon death, heals 500 health divided among nearby injured allies. The total amount healed is increased by 20% for each ally healed.

While Honey Bear spawns in front like other tanks, it's not as beefy as your usual tank power mercenaries. Make use of it's Pot o' Honey ability for maximum effectiveness.

New Secret Card: Rogue Rat

A little bite won’t hurt.

Game Balance

Read more about our design philosophy on game balance, and use drachbot to see mastermind, unit, and spell win rates and pick rates!

Classic

The following two changes apply to 4v4-only.

Redraw
- Redraw gold cost increased from waves 5-20 by ~70%

Double Lock-In
- Starting Gold: 240 → 235

Classic is less balanced than ranked, so masterminds that give you greater agency in picking specific units and combos are too strong.

Masterminds

Castle
- Bonus income after wave 10: +46 → +45

Reverted buff from a few patches ago. High pick rate.

Champion
- Attack speed: Additive → Multiplicative

Now behaves more expectedly on units with attack speed buffs built into their kits.

Fiesta
- Now has a minor power score adjustment to account for future expected gold from Fiesta

This is a very minor nerf to Fiesta (since it makes opponents less likely to go on fire). More importantly, it makes mind games more interesting, as you can’t use power score as easily to deduce an opposing player’s mastermind.

Legion Spells

Battle Scars
- Attack speed: 3.6% → 3.5%
- Attack speed: Additive → Multiplicative

Now behaves more expectedly on units with attack speed buffs built into their kits.

Giant Snail
- Bounty: 4 → 8

Now consistent with other mercenaries, where their bounty reflects their relative combat power. Generally a nerf, but can situationally be a buff (if the player leaks Giant Snails).

Hero
- Attack speed: Additive → Multiplicative

Now behaves more expectedly on units with attack speed buffs built into their kits.

Magician
- Mana regeneration: 0.55 → 0.52

High pick rate and win rate.

Pulverizer
- Stun frequency: Every 3 attacks (6 for ranged) → every 3 attacks (5 for ranged)

More viable on ranged units.

Villain
- Damage amplification: 20% (10% for ranged) → 20% (12% for ranged)
- Effectiveness against bosses: ½ → ⅓

More viable on ranged fighters, but less strong against bosses.

Fighters

Whirlybird
- Damage: 39 → 40

Reverted the nerf from a few patches ago. Low win rate and pick rate.

Dark Mage
- Mana regeneration decreased by 8%
- Mind Warp: Attack speed: Additive → Multiplicative

Now behaves more expectedly on units with attack speed buffs built into their kits.

Spectral Scallywag
- Health: 2500 → 2480
- Damage: 125 → 124

Slightly high win rate and pick rate.

APS / MPS
- Attack speed: 1.35 → 1.28
- Energize and Mythium Core: Attack speed: Additive → Multiplicative

Now behaves more expectedly on units with attack speed buffs built into their kits.

Crab Warlock / Crabomancer
- Nerfed synergy with mana buffs by ~35%
- Now clarifies that the crabs are Pierce/Fortified

Crab Warlock is too strong with additional mana sources. It’s also a point of frustration, particularly for lower-rated players.

Tips against Crab spam:
- Send DPS mercenaries, especially Pack Leader, Witch, and Ogre
- Consider sending on waves 4, 6, 7, 8, 10, 13, 14, 16, 18, and 20, especially 16

Elite Archer / Trinity Archer
- Attack speed: 1.03 → 1.05

Low win rate and pick rate.

Mudman
- Health: 1570 → 1330
- Harden: 3 + 15% damage reduction → Now starts with 17.5% base damage reduction, which doubles when Hardening and is lost when recovering

Golem
- Health: 4700 → 3800
- Harden: 3 + 15% damage reduction → Now starts with 17.5% base damage reduction, which doubles when Hardening and is lost when recovering

This rework accomplishes the following:
- Makes hardened Mudman less of an auto-hold on early waves but stronger in the mid and late game
- Makes Mudman and Golem have better synergy with healing and health buffs
- Removes negative damage reduction, which is generally an unhealthy mechanic. We gave the same treatment to Gatling Gun, Hydra, and Alpha Male last year.

Sand Badger
- Health: 2500 → 2460

Iron Scales
- Health: 6720 → 6620

Arctaire
- Frozen Veil: Damage: 8 → 9
- Frozen Veil: Attack speed reduction: 2% → 2.1%

Bug fix.

Banana Bunk
- Health: 3050 → 3090

Banana Haven
- Health: 7600 → 7700

Great Boar
- Health: 3230 → 3190

Red Eyes
- Health: 8170 → 8070

Shifting power from Boar to Bunk.

Hades
- Mana regeneration decreased by 4%

High win rate.

Millennium
- Health: 2100 → 2010

Doomsday Machine
- Health: 5140 → 4900

High win rate.

Fenix
- Damage: 305 → 310

Slightly low win rate and pick rate.

Eggsack
- Health: 2450 → 2400

High win rate.

Balance Watchlist

The dev team is constantly monitoring game balance, between looking at data and listening to community feedback. If anything is being more closely monitored than usual, it will be listed in this Balance Watchlist section. For this patch, the following are on the watchlist:
- King health and game pacing
