Finnish Mythology, seen by the devs
Mythology is an endless source of inspiration and material. We have used many concepts from Finnish folklore, like Lempo itself, but have not been afraid to put our own spin on things. Lempo is not a lesson on Finnish mythology but has taken a lot of ideas from it. We have mixed up different time periods and cultures and styles into one mysterious, interesting, and unique adventure.
It's not hard to see during these cold and short winter days why darkness and gloominess are present in the Finnish way of thinking and living, and an integral part of the mythology of the north. Finland is an inspiring place to work on a horror game, as there are endless dark forests, vast and silent lakes, and not too many people around.
It's also quite interesting to think about all the different things we now call folklore. There has been a time when some of these stories were actually true to many people. Nowadays it's more a form of escapism - a brief visit to another place where we don't have to think about groceries and bills.

Vitality in Lempo - A sound mind in a healthy body
You won't escape Metsänpeitto unscathed as your vitality will be tested.
Vitality serves the same purpose as health in other games.. With a twist. On top of physical damages you can take from the environment and monsters your vitality will also drop the longer you stay or run on this plane. So don't be slippin' on your way to escape your worst fear!
Some say exploring this forest at the edge of a breakdown will allow you to see the true nature of this place. Care to find out?

First thing you'll pick up will be your lighter, a source of dim light that will NOT help you see far away but it's longetivity will make it your most cherished tool. You might even collect different lighters during your journey!
Your lighter is lit but you can't find the North Star? Your compass should help you navigate this troubling forest.
Finding yourselves going in circles even with the compass? Maybe someone was here before and mapped the areas...
Can you see what's behind that thick fog? Find a flashlight to easily explore your environment with a powerful light and avoid the imminent dangers waiting for you. But you might need to find batteries if you find yourself using it too much...
When snakes have their trials in the spring, they hold these stones in their mouths. If loaded with snake blood, the stone will give back your strength.
Lempo's plane is covered in secrets. To help you uncover hidden places and solves environmental puzzles you can use a crystal. This object will help you find trails, secrets and more! But the mysteries around it are yours to discover.

On top of this we want to thank everyone for the feedback we got from the Gamescom's demo, this will help us greatly in providing the best experience possible in Lempo!

Lempo will let you play as Paul an employee that stayed up late one too many time at the office. This overtime will have nightmarish consequences for you... Trying to leave the office only meant for you to get lost in a forest as your office vanished. Explore the forest, Metsanpeittö, and discover clues that will help you uncover the truth behind its existence. Will you find a way out of this uncanny forest? Keep an eye out as Lempo's forest can be deceptive and dangerous!
