Developer Blog #1

Our first Developer Blog post is live!

We have reworked the website and added a new blog section. This blog will be a way to consolidate all the information given through our various social and community channels and update everyone all in one place. We will still be posting and replying to Steam discussions, chatting on Discord, and making Dev Diaries on YouTube and all the usual stuff, we now just have a blog as a hardcopy version of everything we talk about, all in one place.

We will also be a lot better at keeping the Steam community updated with our progress from now on. Starting the blog and sharing it on Steam is one of the ways we can keep you all up to date with what's happening.

This blog talks about the recent Dev Diary #33, the Community Vote to Delay Controller Support, and sheds some light on the Update Roadmap ahead.

Mini Patch 0.7.1.1

Just a very quick patch to solve a couple of small bugs.

See below for the full patch details.

! Bugs and issues resolved this patch:

  • Added keybinding for screenshot mod into the settings menu.
  • Changed default keybinding for screenshot mode from T to G, as it was incorrectly set to T which overrides the blocking key.
  • Fixed issue with player looks direction being off by 45 degrees when first attacking.

Keymapping Update

Keymapping Update 0.1.7

Hey everyone, keymapping is now in the game! We have been rewriting all of the control systems within the game as part of a big change to allow for more flexibility and usability with our control schemes. You can now set custom keys and bindings for the controls within the game, with two separate maps, one for WASD controls and another for Mouse Controls.

We are currently working on controller support and will continue to work on it over the next few weeks. The goal isn’t to just shoehorn in controller support and make it good enough, we want the experience of playing Len’s Island on a controller just as good as any other control scheme. This means we are taking our time to rework many areas of the games such as UI/UX, input schemes and rewriting a lot of old code.

There are also lots of small tweaks and bug fixes included in this update, as well as some small performance improvements. We are aiming to have controller support out in the next 3-5 weeks. Alongside controller support, there will also be a big content update which we are naming “The Connections Update”, which will go live in around 3-5 weeks as well. We will share more details about this update on our socials over the next couple of weeks.

Oh and we changed the version numbers to now start with 0. instead of 1. as they really should not be starting with a 1 until the game is fully released to avoid any confusion.

Patch 1.0.6.1

Quick Patch 1.0.6.1

Hey everyone, just a super quick patch to address some small/rare but annoying bugs that slipped through the Pagoda update. Thank you to everyone for the ongoing bug reports, they have been very helpful with getting on top of issues as soon as possible!

We added a fix for anyone experiencing the issue with the exit of the mine shaft being stuck as broken when it should be repaired. All you need to do is load into the cave then it will be fixed when you come back to the island.

Revised Pagoda Update!

Pagoda Update 1.0.6

Howdy! This is the first of three large updates which will go out over the next couple of weeks. This update includes the new Pagoda building style to celebrate the Chinese Lunar New Year. There are also some new decorations and we have now added unique styles for all of the windmills, water towers and fences. This update also includes some major optimizations and many bug fixes.

We were off to a bumpy start with this update, however, we have now fixed all of the issues that were causing save data to be lost. For anyone that loaded and saved their game during the short timeframe the original patch was live, if you lost any data that will unfortunately still be gone. For everyone else, there's shouldn't be any issues. We really apologise for the hassle, if you get any issues with bits of your world not saving please send us a bug report asap.

Memory usage per frame was reduced by around 95% and we solved the memory leak issue. Keymapping support will be in very soon, within a week from now. We have also been working on controller support and that will be out in an update within the next 3-4 weeks.

We have been moving into a new office and expanding the team over the past month, so things have been very very busy. We will be completely settled in over the next couple of weeks and we are ready to hit the ground running this year with many exceptionally large updates. There will also be a Dev Diary going up on our YouTube Channel in the next couple of days to go over the details of this update.
