Liquidators

Statement on the War in Ukraine

From the onset, the ultimate purpose of this game has been to raise awareness for the liquidators of Chernobyl, people who undertook selfless acts to contain the worst nuclear disaster in history. These people were mainly of the Ukrainian SSR who collaborated with major personnel from the rest of the nation. They completed many dangerous missions which were critical for the well-being of the rest of the world, one of which is depicted in this game. The three characters that you control in the game; Alexei Ananenko, Valeri Bespalov, and Boris Baranov were all from Ukrainian SSR, and successfully completed their unbelievably risky mission.

On February 24, 2022, the Russian government committed an unjustified invasion of the democratic and independent nation of Ukraine. We still cannot believe that this horrifying and unnecessary attack has happened. It is incredibly heartbreaking for us, and an unimaginable hell for the Ukrainian people. As of March 13th, 2022 this war has caused over 500 civilian casualties, hundreds of thousands of displacements, and millions of refugees. Among the Ukrainians most affected are many of the liquidators that once helped contain Chernobyl. We don’t know where Alexei and Valeri are, or even if they are still alive, because of this war. More recently, the Chernobyl nuclear power plant was fully disconnected from the power grid because of the military actions by Russian occupiers. This has compromised the cooling of nuclear material stored at the site and has alerted U.N. nuclear watchdogs, the IAEA, and the European Union. The Russian government is jeopardizing everything that the Chernobyl Liquidators have selflessly accomplished and are risking a repeat of the original disaster.

Before this war, we were promoting the Charity of Chernobyl Children International, but we think it is now more appropriate to promote UNICEF Ukraine Aid instead. We have not been affiliated with anyone since the beginning of this project and received no external funding or support. We were a small team of students who were inspired by the selfless acts of Chernobyl Liquidators and wanted to create an interesting interactive experience out of their unimaginable missions, with the goal of raising awareness and charity for them. We believed that the Chernobyl Liquidators never got the respect and support that they always deserved, but this is an unparalleled turn of events that threaten the selfless acts of all those involved in the liquidation process of Chernobyl. Please donate, spread the word, and give the help and support that you can to Ukraine. They accomplished selfless acts for us, and it is our turn now, more than ever, to help them back.

Final Thoughts

The Liquidators Dev team would like to express our immense gratitude to all of our players for the amazing feedback and response our experience has received. We have recently surpassed 22,000 units, which is far more than we had ever even expected. We pledge to continue to listen to our community and do our best to bring forward the requested changes/fixes.

It is truly humbling to see how many of our players care about our message as much as we do. We would like to say a huge thank you to all who have taken our mission to heart and given their time/attention to the causes we have highlighted in our mission statement.

Thank you very much.
