Little Bug

Update: Two new levels!

We just updated Little Bug with two new bonus levels!
They're both heavily centered on gaining momentum with big swinging motions - something that we would have liked to explore more in the main story.

This brings the current bonus level count to 16. We'll leave it up to you to discover which items unlock these new levels, but we plan on adding more in the coming months. There are 33 items after all.

We're designing new bonus levels and we want to hear from you!

When we were in the home stretch of Little Bug, we had some gameplay ideas that didn't quite fit in the story - so we put them in bonus levels.

Very soon, we are going to upload a few more - but before we do, we want to hear your thoughts on what would make a fun, wacky, bizarre and/or challenging Little Bug level!

No idea is a bad idea here. I made one where the camera is flipped upside down, and the only way I can beat it is by physically flipping my monitor upside down! The point is to mess with the design however possible.

We've been loving the feedback from our community and we want to put some of that directly into the game. If you want to contribute your bonus level idea, leave a comment here or join us on discord: https://discord.gg/littlebug

Patch Notes

We released a teeny tiny patch yesterday across all digital storefronts.

  • Fixed a bug that caused certain collectible items to be invisible in the lunchbox.
  • Increased the trigger area of firefly clouds in the St. John's Wort bonus level.
  • Adjusted the spacing of certain shooty hands ever so slightly: There was a puzzle that was extra difficult to solve if players didn't trigger a specific shooty hand. This new spacing adjustment resolves that issue.
  • Fixed a rare issue that caused some music tracks to play long after they were supposed to fade out.

In the mean time, we could use your support in getting nominated for a Steam Award. We feel that "best environment" suits us best, but choose what ever category you think fits! The nomination button is on our store page, can't miss it.

Thanks so much <3

Forbes Interview!

We got interviewed by Forbes! There is a lot of info in the article about who we are as people and how we conceptualized Little Bug.

It's very well written and definitely worth a read if you want to know more about our studio and some behind the scenes stuff about the game.

The Gush

It's been a month since Little Bug entered the world. Our community has been small, but you all have been so supportive, we truly appreciate you so much. We put every inch of our being into this game, so to see those emotions reflected on your faces as a you play our baby is beyond fulfilling.

What's Next

We are on a brief vacation in baja mexico where we designed much of the game's art, but we have been compiling a list of changes and bugs to fix. It's not a long list, but we do plan on addressing a few things when we get back:

Falling Thru Colliders
We initially thought we patched this a few days after launch, but it looks like it's still happening occasionally. This sucks, we are sorry. We are getting closer to the problem (which seems to be physics based) and we want to get it fixed as fast as you do. Sit tight, we are working on it.

The invisapillar
There's a bug that causes the collectable caterpillar to sometimes be invisible when you add it to the lunch box. Since it doesn't break the game, we are considering making it part of the lore. We are absolutely open to suggestions.

We are here for ya

Patch #3 - it's teeny tiny

Hey everyone,
We made a some very small changes in our 3rd patch. Here are the notes:

  • Previously, pressing "restart" did not reset your current play through time, current play through ouchies count and current play through energy depletion count. This caused some players' stats to roll over between play throughs and not get achievements after pressing restart, then replaying through the entire story. This has been changed! All of the data mentioned above now resets to zero when you press restart.
  • A collider was missing on a cement mesh toward the middle of the game, it has been added back.

That's it! Teeny Tiny as promised. As always, let us know if you encounter any issues in game in our bug report discussion or tell us directly on our discord.

Another Small Patch + Improvements

This latest patch squashes some little bugs and includes a couple feature requests.
Here are the notes:

  • Windowed mode has been added to the in-game settings menu (Linux users should still use windowed mode for best results).
  • Pre-game settings dialogue has been removed from the Linux build.
  • Bug causing players to not get the Botanist achievement has been fixed (if you already got Botanist, it should now pop up in the main menu next time you play).
  • Rare bug causing players to get stuck on a full Lunchbox screen without the ability to offer their 7th item has been fixed.
  • Bug causing players with very low FPS to not properly open their Lunchbox has been fixed.
  • Tweaked physics performance and trigger events.

As always, we appreciate all of your help and feedback in tracking down these issues and improving the game. Don't hesitate to report issues and/or give us your suggestions in the future.

<3 Thanks!

Small Patch + Update Notes

We've been loving watching everyone stream Little Bug, it's been really exciting to see everyone getting to know Nyah and her world. We did notice a few areas that needed some love, so we uploaded a small patch. Here are the notes:

  • Did you know that purple Altar items open bonus levels? It's OK if you didn't, a lot of players missed this too. The fix: Items that unlock bonus levels in the Altar now have a pop-up telling you what button to press to open them.
  • Certain sections of the story were a little too challenging, so we added a few extra checkpoints and light bulb hints.
  • A bug causing hands to preposition themselves in a particular bonus level has been fixed.
  • Some items in the Altar had slightly different descriptions than their counterparts in the story. That has been corrected.

If you have any questions about this patch, please feel free to comment below. If you found a bug and want to report it, you can do so in our discussions. Thanks!
