Hey everyone, we're getting down to the wire here and really need help to get us the momentum to meet our Kickstarer goal. With only 5 days left, we need one last final push and I assure you that every little bit helps. Please contribute, buy some cool rewards, and please shout us out and share the campaign with your friends and socials.
I've spent the last couple years really dedicated to this project, I've put my heart and soul into this, and it would mean the world to me if we were successful. I really need your help to make that happen. You can lift us up, you can help us rise.
Kickstarter Launch, Physical Tarot Cards, and Patch v3.2.2
Kickstarter Launch:
^Updated KS Launch Trailer^
Hello, I'm Alan- the primary developer + art director of Little Ghost, a 2D puzzle platformer with metroidvania-style exploration of interconnected levels. The game has a surreal, psychedelic, papercraft aesthetic and there is a 2+Hour free demo available now on Steam and Itchio. While the demo serves as a "Chapter One" release, it has long been my hope to be able to create and share with you the full Little Ghost experience that I've plotted out over the last few years: over 9 hours of gaming with lots of power-ups and 4 playable characters that can join your team. Please support the Kickstarter to make this vision a reality!
Physical Tarot Cards:
In Little Ghost, one of the main collectables are Tarot Cards, many of which grant metroidvania-style Power-Ups. As part of today's Kickstarter launch to fund the full game, we will be offering the full 78 in-game cards of Little Ghost as a physical Tarot Deck, beautifully printed, featuring illustrations by the incredible Eduardo Alexandrino. This campaign is the culmination of years of work and study, and I couldn't be more thrilled to share it with you!
The Tarot Deck will also come with a booklet, to serve as a guide in your readings, as well as building upon and enhancing your understanding of the Little Ghost game lore.
Some scenes from the game translate almost directly to the cards that represent them.
In addition to getting the full 78-card Tarot Deck, you can get your favorite Little Ghost Tarot Card as a TShirt... ...or a TankTop... ...or as a poster print... ...We even have perks that allow you to get your artwork put into the Little Ghost game!
Please consider supporting the Kickstarter or streaming the game or leaving a review or sharing with friends you think would enjoy it. Really truly appreciate any and all help in this!
Patch 3.2.2 :
There is a new patch for the Little Ghost demo. I've made a ton of small tweaks to the platforming and dialogue and such. Mostly Quality of Life issues and two small bug fixes.
Steam Next Fest:
Little Ghost is proud to be premiering at this week's upcoming Next Fest! Yet another great excuse to play and/or stream the game :)
v3.2 ~ Steam Achievements are here
LITTLE GHOST STEAM ACHIEVEMENTS
There are 70 Achievements and they are Exclusive to the Demo. I really wanted to drive home the idea that this demo can be treated as a full game in its own right.
These achievements add a lot of fun new quests & challenges. Again, this demo is evolving and is a slice of something larger, but it is fully formed and makes a great 2 hour game experience on its own. Now that the platforming has been refined, I want to encourage exploration of the spaces by rewarding you for finding secrets. There are achievements inspired by indiedev champions Indie Game Collective & Indie World Order, one based on the posters done by Pedro Ferreyro, and some based on streamer playthrus.
MORE v3.2 PATCH NOTES:
3 QUESTS MORE STREAMLINED, LESS DIFFICULT
+Made the screaming baby less difficult for the purple key 💜(ufo/bookshelf)
+Made a drastic change to the blue key 👁️(rhino/comicbook) making it not only easier but also re-imagining how it can be most useful in directing players across the map NOTE: You can still use old save files, whatever doors you've unlocked, stay unlocked. Any remaining locked doors on your save file will just be moved.
+Redesigned fireman/bucket quest to remove redundancy and back-tracking
INDIE GAME CAMEOS We also added some features to the in-game digital checklist for the Indiedev cameos. Each IndieGame now has their name + twitter handle light up when you find them and you'll see which ones you're missing on the checklist.
UPDATED MAP ARTWORK Added an X/Y Coordinate grid to all Maps & Naps, which should make using the compass much more intuitive.
MP3 ICON CHANGE The original Mp3 Icon was a hexagon-styled cube that I had designed 2 years ago, but in the time since digital hexagons have become associated with technology I don't want to associate with, so the solution was a sort of cube-within-a-cube redesign that I think keeps the original intent.
SIDE SCROLLER MAGAZINE Skull Commando Labs does a fantastic digital magazine that showcases Indie games. We added the cover to the issue that features Little Ghost onto the in-game bookshelf at the north-east Edge of the map. Just a fun reference I was excited to add
ADDITIONAL COMIC BOOK ART This one is a secret, you'll see it if you find it ;)
TWITCH ART DISPLAY Oh Little Ghost game art now displays on Twitch as its own category! I'm SO happy with how that looks!
KICKSTARTER ANNOUNCEMENT Lastly, after much thought, I've decided to do a Little Ghost Kickstarter in August. Nothing crazy, just something to help us take the next steps. I hope you'll support us when the time comes
That's it for today, Hope you enjoy the new updates!
V3.0 ~ Redesigned Float Power & Cinematics drastically improve gameplay/playfeel
We had the pleasure of seeing a bunch of streamers play our Halloween update, and in seeing them play, getting their feedback, we realized where there were opportunities to improve the game and one thing led to another. Like dominoes or a puzzle box, things started to fall into place. And the result is a really refined version of the game. If you've played before, please consider playing again.
Patch Notes: We've been knee-deep in work on this. In it, 100% in it. The amount of stuff we've added in the few weeks since Halloween is staggering.
The first thing you'll notice in the update is the addition of a multi-faceted float "meter" based on @GeneralPedroArt who drew a glowing aura on Little Ghost. We loved it & just had to add it to the game! And it looks amazing! Particles & animation that convey UI info with style. If it were just a visual pop it would still be cool, but it really does help the platforming by conveying essential data in the moment.
Speaking of particles, we also added particles on everyone's favorite unicorn heads as well as Checkpoints, Steam coming out of the steam pipes, and Confetti when you grab items.
The next big change you'll notice is the addition of cinematic camera movements that not only help define the scope of each "room" or challenge but also help you understand the lay of the land, which directions you can move in, what you need to pay attention to.
Up next we have the new loop-a-song feature and full system volume controls - both suggested/requested by @itsApollyon. Also updated mp3 player UI art (scroll arrows and BGs) and new/found mp3s now display in pink text color to highlight which ones you've found, which are the newest etc.
The home menu music loop has been expanded from 50 secs to a 5 full minutes of evolving music for all streamers sitting on that screen :) Also added 6 new SFX & swapped the two Christopher North songs (since my fav song of his was too well hidden)
We added a whopping 11 checkpoints, also a million platforming tweaks including custom HP damage values for each object/enemy and 3 new secret passageways!
Rearranged the space just outside the village (with the sweeping hamster npc) yet again & completely redesigned the section between the first boss & the ufo - it's really cool now.
There are 4 NPCs who either got added or expanded: We added animation & SFX to that little bird in the tutorial, we added a gryphon to one of the houses in the village, and now you can speak to that cute cloud you can ride, as well as the giant ant queen!
Remade a ton of the UI (probably silly to list it all out) but it really does make a difference, both in the visual impact and the "readability" of how you're progressing and how the map is getting upgraded.
Last two things worth mentioning, we added alternates for float button; in addition to the E key, you can also use F or X. And, I wont spoil it here, but we added some animation when you pick up the 4th tarot card and get the upgrade/power-up. Has a great SFX too!
Please go try these updates out, it really feels like this is the definitive version of the Little Ghost demo.
Little Ghost - major Halloween 2.0 update !
First off, before I say anything else, let me assure you that I did NOT intend for my Halloween Spooky Cute 2.0 update that I'm launching on the Full Moon to be exactly 666mb . . . I didn't intend it, but I'll sure take it! 😅
Now, as to what makes this update so darn special is that it really has a different gamefeel -- it's faster, "gamier" if that's a thing, the controls feel so much more responsive, and I think it is more fun. What I'm unsure of - and what I'd love feedback on - is whether or not this change in the platforming makes the game harder or not. Please let me know, please enjoy your Spooky Season, and please share this game with anyone who you think might enjoy it!
