Alpha Update 0.2.2 Big Update! Compass, Squirrels, Hare's and more!

A quick overview of the bug fixes, improvements, and new additions in this update.


Update 0.2.1 has been merged with update 0.2.2 because of technical reasons.

New in Little Hats:


  • Compass system, the HUD now has a compass system that allows you to see where north, south, west, and east are as well as points of interest such as towns, near shops, houses, and shop wagons. When you place a crafting table of sorts it will be shown on the compass as well, as a yellow house, indicating where your house is, when you place another one somewhere it will show the nearest to your current location as the yellow house in the compass.

  • The game now has Hares (Similar to a rabbit) walking and running around the map.

  • Squirrels have been added! they will also be roaming around the map.

  • The game now has a passive mode for young and easily scared children or people who wish to play without the trolls and dangers.

  • A guide has been added that can be accessed from the ESC menu, this allows the player to quickly look up how some things work, please let me know if there's anything else you would like me to explain in the guide.

  • A heartbeat sound has been added and will play when you are badly hurt.

  • More signs have been added on the human roads as well as some buildings.

  • Some new maps have been added as decore in some human houses.

  • More gnome NPC animations, they now have a fall animation for when they're falling. As well as improved run animations. They also have a scared animation now.

  • Some gnome will now crouch down and cover their head in fear when a troll or human comes near.

  • There are now tutorial messages for building and mining.

  • The first few times you pick up an item a message will appear to tell you that you can put it in your inventory by pressing 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, or 6.

  • The game now has tips on the loading screens, to help players learn about the game and how to play it.

  • There is now a new area discovered message for the Forest Crater.

  • You now get Spirit Points and a New Animal Discovered message when you discover a new animal and press E on it. The message will also tell you what animal it is, for the younger players a fun way to learn new animals.

  • New human food can be found, the papflap, or Belgium papflap, this sweet food will instantly remove all hunger and most thirst as well as increase health, making it the most valuable food in Little Hats.

  • There are now 4 humans with who you can have a dialogue.




Fixed Bugs and Improvements:


  • UI has completely been improved, almost everything has seen changes from the main menu to the in-game shops, all texts should now also be easier to read.

  • HUD update, small HUD improvements.

  • The wheelBarrow has been fixed, the player wasn't able to put resources into it, fixed now.

  • Ability to remove player build object without demolishing tool by holding E for a while works once more.

  • The castle interior in Ravenwoud didn't load on time.

  • Black interior transition material interfered with some of the houses in Ravenwoud, this has been fixed

  • The bug when the camera moves into the player and the mouth and eyes are seen, should be fixed now, it's one of the strangest bugs that I have encountered, and will require more testing to make sure it doesn't show up again.

  • White cubes are no longer visible at the castle gatehouse in Ravenwoud.

  • Human items now properly disappear at a certain distance, further optimizing the game.

  • Player buildings now disappear at a distance further improving the game's performance.

  • Shop keeper animations kept stopping, this has been fixed. But the old floating heads bug has reappeared and will be fixed ASAP.

  • Waterfalls had missing textures, this should be fixed but will require more testing to make sure it doesn't happen again.

  • One of the smaller human towns somehow got deleted through an error, an older version of it has been implemented but is not as well optimized. This also caused the loading screen to not go away, which it should now no longer do.

  • Some changes have been made to the main menu.




The remaining bugs and improvements are currently being worked on and should soon be fixed in update 0.2.3

Alpha Update 0.2.0 Shop Wagons, Butterflies and More!

A quick overview of the bug fixes, improvements, and new additions in this update:




  • Butterflies have been added and can be found all throughout the map.

  • Dragonflies have been added and can be found near water.

  • Ladybugs have been added and can be found all throughout the map.

  • Gnome Shop Wagons will now travel across the map, setting up camp in a bunch of different locations to sell you items and upgrade potions! Bringing shops within easier access of the player.

  • New gnome soldier/guard model has been made and added to the world, the soldier gnome can be found only in Ravenwoud (for now).

  • The hanging Dutch flag has been mirrored, it's now red white blue, instead of the opposite way like the french flag.

  • Z in the tutorial message not going away has been fixed.

  • Moss ground texture is now less repetitive, and improved, making the general landscape feel more realistic.

  • An invisible wall has been added to the part where the player could escape the level, near the tutorial area.

  • Gnome in the first gnome house on the road to Ravenwoud should now no longer keep hiding in the flowers outside of his house, but actually, show himself to players...

  • Part of the river on the road to Ravenwoud had the wrong water texture, this has been fixed.

  • Castle Witberg (Big castle on the mountain) has improved short-distance models, making the castle look way better from a short distance.

  • Names and text have been added on signs in the secret gnome village of Frija.

  • A tool shop has been added to the secret gnome hideout in Hoogenbos.

  • More gnome signs have been added along gnome roads to make directions more clear.

  • Sings that lead to the potion shop have been added.

  • A small part of the map has been improved, adding in some more greenery and rocks.



The remaining bugs and improvements are currently being worked on and should soon be fixed in update 0.2.1

Alpha Update 0.1.9 Quests And Kind Humans!

A quick overview of the bug fixes, improvements, and new additions in this update:




  • The game now has a quest system, if you restart the game from the beginning now you will get a clear message after speaking to someone that tells you what to do, who to talk to, where to go etc. You will also be rewarded for completing a part of the main quest. You will be able to see your current quest by pressing f1.

  • There are now also friendly humans who you can even talk to in a new human dialogue system!

  • Two new gnome objects, a gnome Sword and a Poleaxe have been added to the game, they are used by gnome NPC's but will later also be usable by the player in an upcoming simple combat system to defend yourself.

  • A Human Speer object has been added.

  • Folkmod has a new dialogue explaining more about the general lore and giving the player new directions for following the main storyline.

  • Folkmod the guardian has been added to the game.

  • Open shop sound has been made less loud.




The remaining bugs and improvements are currently being worked on and should soon be fixed in update 0.2.0

Alpha Update 0.1.8 New Gnomes!

A quick overview of the bug fixes, improvements, and new additions in this update:



  • Pressing CTRL on the couch caused the gnome to move up, rather than just sit, this bug has been removed.

  • The frame rate at the hidden gnome village in the forest eye has been improved.

  • Gnome AI has been upgraded and improved, it still needs a lot of work but they now sit down from time to time and go to sleep at night. they also run away from trolls and will try to hide in their houses

  • Human AI has been improved, they should now be doing some basic tasks like sleeping at night, cleaning around their houses, working in the garden or on the farm, moving things around. They should now also be slightly easier to get away from, and they will also see you less quickly, and lose you quicker.

  • 3 new gnome female characters.

  • 3 new gnome male characters.

  • 8 new gnome dialogues about the lore and world, giving tips, telling about how the world works.

  • Gnome model improvements.

  • Small Human model improvements.

  • New gnome props have been implemented into the new gnome house.

  • New model for the lord of Ravenwoud.

  • The castle interior in Ravenwoud did not load in, in time, this should be fixed.

  • Loading screen not going away when last save was made in Huyne Hole area by the big lake, now fixed.

  • 3 new gnome houses can now be found in the forest.

  • New gnome animations, idle, sleep, sit, and more.

  • Double jump still worked while sitting, no more!




The remaining bugs and improvements are currently being worked on and should soon be fixed in update 0.1.9
