Ryan here from Super Rare Originals! We and Hannes from Cuddle Monster Games are excited to reveal that LONE RUIN warps onto Steam + other platforms on January 12th!

Yes, it's finally coming!! And it's so, so close! 😂

Venture into an old, magical ruin to seek an ancient power in this highly replayable roguelike twin-stick shooter, from the creator of Hell is Other Demons. Optimise spells and build ultimate combos to defeat twisted monstrosities in this hellishly vibrant, highly addictive action game.

LONE RUIN will be the 2nd release under Super Rare's new Originals publishing label, following the launch of the beloved action-platformer Grapple Dog earlier this year.

Here's another round of changes as suggested by you peeps!
Keep the feedback flowing, it's so useful!


  • You can now move while casting (experimental, leave feedback plz!)
  • You can now dash even if another spell is already active (experimental, leave feedback plz!)
  • Skull Bats no longer have inaccurate shots
  • Chasers (little meatballs) no longer track your direction after jumping backwards
  • Worms should longer run off ledges
  • Softer low health warning overlay
  • Changes to the description of some items
  • You can no longer click to reorder spells when NOT in Character Details mode (press TAB/View)

Lone Ruin - Steam Next Fest dev re-stream 🌀

Hi all!

Lone Ruin is getting a ✨completely free✨demo, made especially for the Steam Next Fest event which lasts June 13th - June 30th!

This early alpha demo includes a section of the standard game mode of our magical twin-stick shooter roguelite, as well as a first look at the fast-paced, hectic new Survival mode - how long can you survive for?

To celebrate the demo's launch, developer Hannes Rahm from Cuddle Monster Games will be playing the game for 2 hours, sharing insights into its development and design!

Don't forget to wishlist the game if you like it - the Almighty Algorithm really loves it when you do. 🙏


✨ Checking out the demo? Here's some quick tips to help you along your way ✨:

- Some spells can be charged up. Try holding the spell buttons down
- You can only fire one spell at a time. Release the button to be able to cast another one
- You move slowly while casting, so timing is key
- Choose an upgrade when you level up to help survive for longer
- To level up, make sure you're picking up gold (those lil yellow cubes)
- Your dash spell makes you briefly invulnerable. Use it a lot
- Some upgrades upgrade a single spell, while some upgrade your character's abilities
- Press Tab or [View] button on your controller to pause and see info on your spells and upgrades

Another round of small fixes that you lovelies made us aware of! :)

- Boomerang spell kills now adds score, like the other spells.
- Player actions no longer stop when hovering over ui elements.
- Leveling up Second Shot now properly adds multiple shots.
- Slightly faster level ups on all difficulties.

A small patch with some fixes to issues you reported!


  • Added Options to toggle SSAO, Rim Light and Shadows to increase performance on low end systems.
  • Fixed issue where the wrong leaderboard was shown.
  • Fixed memory leak in music player.
  • Potentially fixed black screen of death issue related to the above.
  • Fixed issue with large log file (again)

Based on your feedback, here's a few fixes and adjustments!


  • Leaderboards are now separated by difficulty.
  • Easy difficulty now gets upgrades faster and has a few more enemies.
  • Slightly Reduced Enemy melee hitbox size and timing.
  • Fixed bug where you couldn't dash for a long time after shooting a Fire Ball and some other spells.
  • Boomerang Spell is now a starting spell and has been buffed.
  • Rail Spell now scales with Radius.
  • Barrage Spell buffed.
  • Cold Dash trail damage nerfed.
  • Changed Enemy Projectile Look to make them more distinct.
  • Fixed a Bug that caused an error log every frame. Might make the game more performant.
  • Worm enemies should get stuck less often.
  • Gold Magnet effect reduced.
  • Base pull radius and force increased.
