Loot or Die

New Game from Antoni Games: Rogue Party 2

Well I finally did it. I made the leap of faith from XNA to UNITY game development and here's the result: Rogue Party 2! Thank you for buying my games and I hope you find this new addition to be as much fun as I had making it.

Your Turn Hero

The golem's scream was lost in the myriad of crumbling dungeon passageways. Nailliv was already in the process of making the next one, so the loss didn't bother him in the slightest. He will stop at nothing to achieve his goal, killing Sargon and discovering the secrets of portal magic.
You come to life suddenly. The loosely constructed essence of a fallen warrior within the cold stones of a golem.
All you know is your current quest, and so you set out on your journey.
Throughout the first dungeon you find a heavy sword and fire staff with magical properties that grant you life stealing powers. As you slay scores of enemies, you accumulate gold, potions and more items to aid in your adventure. The warrior spirit eminates from your reanimated body and you continue to grow in power.
At last you reach him, Sargon, only to fall before his magic. As you crumble and the warrior spirit leaves you, your last thought is the hope that the next golem (or golems) will succeed where you have failed...

Features
* 1 to 4 Player Co-Op adventures
- Scaling difficulty, but if players stick together they will have a slight advantage in multiplayer games.
- Potions can be thrown at friends to help (or hurt them because it's hilarious).
- Boss fights incentivize teamwork, especially on hard mode when additional enemies are spawned with the boss.
* Randomized Levels, Items, Enemies, Bosses
- Every one of the game's 20 levels is randomly selected so your experience will be different every playthrough.
- Enemies are chosen from a random pool and placed on random spawn points.
- Chests and their contents, likewise, are chosen from a random pool of items and placed on random spawn points.
- Bosses are chosen from pools just like Enemies and Items. There are 4 different bosses to choose from for each Boss fight available.

* Dynamic Potion System
- Eight randomized potions chosen each game from 17 types (two are always healing).
- Each potion is learned for the remainder of the game after using them on yourself, an enemy or an ally.
- A person in town will sell you potions to help offset your bad luck finding them.
* Item "Prefix" System
- Some items will roll a "Prefix" with bonus affects. These stack up to three times with other items that have the same prefix.
- Example: "Shocking: 33% chance to launch lightning on hit." If you had two of these it would be a 66% chance.
- 32 Prefixes can randomly be rolled onto your items.
- Procs from Prefix items can happen from other Prefixes.
- Planning the Prefixes you want and changing your plan based on what you randomly find is half the fun!
* Elite Item System
- Defeating some bosses will unlock elite weapons and armor.
- Once unlocked, these items will have a low chance of appearing in chests throughout the game.
- Elite Items can also roll random Prefixes.

* New Gem System
- Each boss you defeat drops a gem that can be enchanted with a Prefix.
- You get to choose from 4 random Prefixes which one goes on your gem.
- These Gem Prefixes stack with whatever is on your other items.
- Dying in multiplayer will not reset your Gems.

* New Ghost System
- In Rogue Party 2, the death system has been completely overhauled.
- Until a player finds the exit or defeats the current boss, you will be a Ghost.
- As a Ghost, players can knockback enemies every few seconds.
- Use this ability to help or troll your friends.

* New Town System
- You are no longer on your own in Rogue Party 2.
- After every boss, you will have a chance to revisit the town.
- Rain will heal you.
- Cookie will enchant your gems.
- Nailliv will sell you potions.
- Evalyn has upgrades for your items for sale.

* New Hard Mode
- Alternate Ending.
- Enhanced enemy AI and upgraded combat abilities.
- Unique rewards for beating Hard Mode.
- Epic final multi-stage boss fight.

Note from the Creator:
Rogue Party 2 was a labor of love by one indie developer. Thank you to everyone who supported me in making this game!

Blocked and Loaded Launch Event

We had 4 player PVP matches, open world exploring for loot, epic boss battles and a whole lot of fun!

On the bug list side there were a handful of new ones that needed to be squashed and I worked as fast as I could to do just that. Your feedback was exceptional in this regard as well as your willingness to test out features.

Enhancements were made to the game already, including a nice floating name feature above people's heads.

I'm hard at work at level 2, but if you'd like me to jump in at some point just send me a message.

Thank you all for a very inspiring launch day!

Next Up: One Night You're Crazy!

Thank you for playing my games all these years and helping support me in this fantastic journey of game development. If you enjoyed the "Real Life" style horror games I've created in the past, then you will fall in love with One Night You're Crazy. Yes, you can play as the big bad wolf and tear other players apart.

Working on next update (technical only atm)

I want to clean up all technical issues before moving forward with content updates.

The black screen error appears to be resolved, as two users confirmed that windows media player (and XNA's dependence on it) was to blame. You can follow the bug thread to see how to resolve the issue for yourself.

At the moment I have the following queued up, and as I work on Block King (my next greenlit game) some of these are getting resolved simultaneously in both games:

-volume adjustment option
-full screen toggle
-screen size manual adjustment
-mouse going off screen sometimes
-better mouse graphic so easier to see with all backgrounds

If you have other technical issues you'd like resolved (non-content) please comment on this announcement and I'll try to work them in as well.

Thanks!

Fix for Rare Black Screen Bug

A handful of players (four so far but who knows how many total) have had the game crash on start up.

Here is a solution I tried with a friend who had it and it worked! Be sure to thank Happy Rapi if you see him in game for testing this fix for me.

"Googled around a bit and found out what it was cause i dont have windows media player installed.

So i went to > control panel \ Programs and Features \ Turn windows features on or off \ Media Features \ Windows Media Player"

Here is a link to download the Media Player for Windows N and KN:
https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=48231

So it appears that you must have Windows Media Player installed or Windows won't know how to open the XNA 4.0 specific files that make up the game's sound assets.

My apologies for this issue and taking this long to resolve it. I will continue working on a windowed mode for the game and then move on to bonus content/expansions for free.

Patch 1.004

In game chat using the T button + enter to commit or escape to cancel.

It is likely that anyone playing right now as I post this will crash when you send them a message (until they get this update). Please refrain from using this until tomorrow, 9/16/2016.

Patch 1.003 - First Bugs Fixed

life = lifemax after you return to life (was 25% of max life).

No more spam dying to fire because you spawned on it after dying and defeating the boss of world 2.

Cleaned up mulitplayer code so information from previous games don't blend together. This led to interesting things like bosses in the home area where no enemies should spawn. Please report if this still happens.

Fixed error when exiting the vault and opening inventory afterwards. Was rare but got it fixed.

Steam Launch - 9 / 13 / 2016

Updates are planned, but first I want to make sure that the game is running smoothly as it was originally intended. Then the real fun can begin >:-)

If you have any issues please alert me in the forums to them. Especially with regards to the complicated and feature rich multplayer (drop in games are not easy to pull off on steam).

Good luck while you Loot or Die!

Chris
