Hello friends,

Exciting news – the Level Editor update is now live! You now have access to most of the tools we use, allowing you to create and share your custom levels. This feature is cross-platform, enabling you to share levels with players on Steam, PlayStation, and Xbox, all thanks to the incredible Mod.IO service.



In addition to the level editor, this update brings significant behind-the-scenes changes to Loot River. Expect loading times to be reduced by over 50%, along with enhanced performance and various bug fixes.

We acknowledge that this update has been a long time coming, and we apologize for the delay. Those who participated in the Beta branch are aware that the update has been ready for a while.
Unfortunately, due to issues beyond our control, we were delayed in releasing it - and I apologize for that.

We're hopeful to get back on track with more regular updates from now on, and we're curious to see what you can create!

Loot River Development Update!

Hi Friends!

I know it was some time since our last update - and I apologize.

Don't worry, we are still working on Loot River! Sadly our currently planned update is just a little bit bigger than expected and takes a little bit more time than we anticipated.

We are working on a Level Editor - design your own levels in game and share them with other players!



We hoped to bring this to you before Christmas, but it seems we might just need a little bit longer to make sure everything works as it's supposed to.

This is a small update that addresses saving bug introduced at the last update:

- Fix for time not properly erased when player died
- Fix for changed platform positions not properly cleared upon death, resulting is some platforms possibly being in improper places on subsequent runs
- Minor fixes

Player Movement:
- Prevents situations where player could get 'stuck' on stairs
- Fix for situations where player could not get onto stairs diagonally
- Fix for sudden 'jumps' when boarding stairs from tile above or below
- Various movement tweaks

Saving:
- Fix for possible data loss when player quits the game during death animation

Various:
- Additional checks to prevent Laser Mages from rotating during their laser emitting phase
- Fix Backstab Charm placing player on tile of conflicting elevation
- Fix for seed 9555809 and related, where progression was impossible due to First City layout generation
- Fix for UI interaction prompt occasionally not disappearing during cutscenes
- Fix for delayed camera relocation on load of the save

Daily Runs!

Hi friends,

Great news - the Daily Runs are finally live!

After securing your first Victory or Escape (on any profile), the new Daily Run mode becomes available! It’s exactly the same daily dungeon for all players. There are random weapons, mods, spells items, possibly even items not unlocked in the main game, all to ensure all players have the same gameplay conditions.



Score at least one Victory or Escape in the new daily mode and all your subsequent games will have 10 more charms to find. There’s also an extra Shapeshift Charm that transforms your weapon into another awaiting you in the Sanctuary on every new run.

As well as the new daily mode, we've also fixed more bugs and issues. We also completely reworked how the game loads levels too - speeding the process on all machines, and made The Divide easier to access.

More updates are planned too. Watch this space. Thanks again, forever, for all the help and support.

Daily Runs Update!

- Added Daily Runs: Daily Runs can be started from the Load menu after securing at least one Victory or Escape
- Reworked level loading system: Loading should be a bit faster now
- Entrance to the Divide becomes auto unlocked after some time: Many users have trouble finding Karla and the Divide, so now this area is accessible after several runs even without having Gantley in the level
- Fixed a bug where Mod that prevented Extended Spears was not working
- Fixed a bug where item drop would sometimes not have a visible sprite
- Fixed a bug where player could be soft-locked if an unreachable Protector on one platform protected a Platform Locker enemy on another platform
- Fixed a visual bug where the Bat would have active shadow-mesh after death
- Fixed a visual bug where the Protector range indicator would flicker after death
- Fixed a visual bug where litter on elevated platforms was unaffected by light
- Fixed a UI bug where sometimes mouse position would select a button even if user is using keys/controller only

New enemies! More updates incoming.

Hi friends,
After some time spent on fixing bugs, polish, and other improvements (and summer holidays!), we are now excitedly moving into content production again. There are two important additions in this update:

1. New Enemy Type - Protector Mage, with the ability to shield nearby enemies from damage until their demise. This AI behavior changes the hierarchy of combat, forcing you to better think through spatial situations before engaging in combat.


2. Boss Arenas Variations - when fighting the First One or the Usurper, the arenas are now changing with each run, instead of staying the same.

In future updates we would like to continue expanding Loot River - we have Daily Runs almost finished now, except for rewards for completing them - which is something we are working on now.
After Daily Runs and their rewards is released (should be very soon!), we'd like to move on to expanding items, weapons charms, and spells in the near future. This should all help create more exciting game play variations!

- added Protector enemy - low spawn chance in all levels, protects nearby enemies
- added variations for boss arenas of The Usurper and The First One, so they change each run

We added leaderboards!

Hi friends,

We added leaderboards in our most recent update!

See how you compare to fellow travelers. Your best times in both Victory and Escape modes are now recorded. If the time is achieved in New Game +, the entry has a little + sign as well. We hope you dig it, tell your friends!



The design of the new leaderboards is still being tweaked so they might change a tiny bit in the near future.

We’re also plotting some extra leaderboard functionality and other cool features too. Stay tuned. These should drop soon!

We also released a few combat refinements and some bug fixes too:

  • Animation adjustment: when an executed enemy falls down and doesn't die, they now play a get-up animation instead of blending into idle.
  • Fixed Trade Off Charm imbalance - critical damage is now properly multiplied.
  • Lowered knockback across all weapons.
  • Fixed scaling issues of dropped loot icon when dropped in certain areas.
  • Fixed Backstab Charm teleporting player on the second attack instead of the first.
  • Fixed parrying on Laser Mage Knights.
  • Fixed several enemy outline issues.
