The Kickstarter For My Next Game Has Launched!

Kickstarter Announcement!

Hi everyone! It's been a while since the last news regarding Lootbox Lyfe came out, but don't worry, more is on the way! In the meantime, I recently announced a Kickstarter campaign for my Undertale/Paper Mario-inspired adventure game, The Outbound Ghost. You can check out the prerelease page here. In case you're interested, I also have a YouTube devlog below which gives further context!

Anyways, hope you see you all soon with more Lootbox Lyfe-specific news!

Girabox, My Second Game, Is Out!

Hey everyone! As I mentioned in the last update, I'm working on a new game while waiting to announce the new Lootbox Lyfe news. Well guess what? It's out RIGHT NOW! And it just costs $1.25 and is on discount, how much better can it get?

The game is called Girabox, and it's a puzzle game in which you rotate the world instead of controlling the player. You also have some crazy stuff going on with playing inside yourself (I'll let you figure out what that means).

Anyways, if you're interested in trying it out, you can visit the store page on Steam by pressing here, or looking up "Girabox". Hope you enjoy it!

Until the next update,

Conrad

Next Update, and New Game!

Next Update

Hey everyone! I's been a while since I've talked about the upcoming 1.1.0 update. It was supposed to come out around May and well... Yeah that never happened... I have good reason for that though! Unfortunately, it is for a reason that I will be disclosing at a later date. Just know that it is definitely the biggest Lootbox Lyfe-related news in this game's lifespan, so I hope that you're all excited for that!

If you want to know exactly when I announce it, I suggest you follow me on twitter @ConradicalGames! For even earlier peeks, join the official Conradical Games discord!

New Game

Apart from working on the secret Lootbox Lyfe stuff, I've actually been making a small game on the side! It's called Girabox, and it's a minimalist puzzle game in which you rotate the world instead of controlling the player. It's going to come out on Steam on August 28th, so wishlist it to be notified when it comes out! It's also super cheap, costing only 1.49 USD, or your regional equivalent.

I also made a few videos about its development, so if you want to see those, here's a playlist of them!

Closing Words

So that's a taste of what's going on with Lootbox Lyfe, Girabox, and Conradical Games (note that I dropped the 's!). There's a lot more to announce at a later date, but that'll come in due time! Until then, I hope you enjoy Girabox and the upcoming news regarding Lootbox Lyfe!

Video Devlog, and Version 1.1.0 News

Devlog

Hi everyone! Development on Lootbox Lyfe is going great, and the new additions are only going to get better and better! I just released a devlog yesterday on my YouTube channel which you can watch here. It basically explains what kind of additions you can expect in the 1.1.0 update. Hope you enjoy it!

New Tech

The speedrunning community has been doing some insane stuff in terms of pushing records lower and lower. On top of that, I discovered an interesting interaction between the slam move and the friction/acceleration of Liam Cappello. I decided to combine those two observations and add a new speedrun-centric mechanic (which you can test in the beta branch right now)! Basically, if you press down while slamming, you will get maximum acceleration towards the direction you're facing. A lot of people in the discord server have already found many interesting uses of this, and I hope that only more will pop up!

Lootbox Lyfe Reviews Are Great!

The Next Update

Hey everyone! Progress on V1.0.2 is going smoothly, and the update will probably come out later this week, so I hope you're excited! It mostly has bug fixes and a couple of quality of life updates, but it's also going to have some special stuff too. The next big update will be 1.1.0, which will be coming out late March/early April. It'll have new NPCs, a quest, and even a new ability! If you wanna see what it'll contain more specifically, I'd recommend joining Lootbox Lyfe's Official Discord Server. Another way you can follow the game's development is through following me on Twitter @ConradicalGames.

Reviews

About the reviews... WOW! So far, we have 19 reviews (11 if you only count Steam purchases), with the overall page rating being 100% positive! That's insane. And on top of that, the (limited) press that has covered the game seems to like it too! The Metroidvania Review reviewed Lootbox Lyfe and gave it a 4/5 review rating! Amazingly enough, they also gave it a 5/5 for its platforming, which I'm super happy with since that is one of the main things I focused on with Lootbox Lyfe. If you want to see what they've got to say about the game, here's a little snippet of their article:

"I think no matter who you are, if you enjoy any kind of platforming, colorful graphics, and relaxing music, Lootbox Lyfe has something for everyone, so it’s an absolute no-brainer to heartily recommend it."

What's Next?

Anyways, I think the fact that people seem to be liking Lootbox Lyfe is amazing, and I'm super happy with that. I'll keep on working on the future free content and hopefully you will all like it as much as the base game!

Version 1.0.1 is out!

Patch Notes:

- Fixed a couple of achievements to make them obtainable.
- Fixed the in-game timer to make it not reset when going back to the main menu, or resetting the area.
- Fixed issue with hats and syringes that would make it so that when selecting one of these, they wouldn't persist until you hit a checkpoint or left the current area.
- Added collisions in some areas that previously missed them.
- Changed some UI alignment issues.
- Clarified wording for coins left in the map menu.
- Fixed dust particles in all cutscenes.
- Checkpoints now glow in the dark.
- Music properly loops in all menus.
- Some "trigger" buttons on controllers were incorrectly called bumpers. This is now fixed.
- Made the "select" button prompt be clearer, so that people know that it is the select button.
- Removed debug feature that I forgot to remove.
- Added Speedrun mode.
- Added Free Roam mode.

New Modes

Speedrun Mode

What does Speedrun mode do? Well, it's better suited for speedrunners! It adds a timer, removes cutscenes, and shortens animations!

Free Roam Mode

Free Roam mode allows you to start the game with all abilities unlocked from the start. It also starts you off at the center of the world, the Base. Additionally, you can also use all of your powerups in dark worlds in this world! This mode is great for those wanting a fresh new experience for a second playthrough, or for you speedrun fanatics out there!

Discord

The same day that Lootbox Lyfe came out, I also launched a Discord server for the game! Ever since, many memes have spawned (Baregg in particular), and community members have already come together to break the game, and beat it in under 20 minutes. Want to join the fun?
