Lost Ark Academy - Pet Ranch
Heroes of Arkesia,
Long ago, the mages in the Vern Magick Society were researching the mighty Guardians when they created Pets by combining traces and elements of Guardians.
The August “Under the Arkesian Sun” Update arrives next week on August 24 after the weekly maintenance and reset, bringing with it the Pet Ranch and Legendary Pets. The Pet Ranch is a new location in the Stronghold where Pets can play, grow into more helpful companions, and help you earn valuable rewards. The cute and precious Pets aiding adventurers across Arkesia are ready to further help their worthy leaders by creating Jam Cookies and earning Pet Expertise to level up and unlock new abilities.
Pet Ranch Overview
In the Pet Ranch, your Pets are training to become stronger while generating valuable resources. Pets earn Pet Expertise to level up, while producing Jam Cookies you can exchange for rewards. But Pets can’t continue to earn Expertise and produce Jam Cookies without some well-deserved breaks. To balance your Pet’s morale, the Pet Ranch is separated into two sections; the Cookie Workshop and the Ranch.
Ranch & Cookie Workshop In the Ranch, Pets regain Morale while they relax and play with other Pets. Pets can either be placed in the Ranch or the Cookie Workshop as they regain morale or spend it while creating Jam cookies, but not both at the same time. Working in the Cookie Workshop will decrease a Pet’s morale, and a Pet without morale can no longer produce Jam Cookies.
Pets earn both Expertise and Jam Cookies simultaneously in the Cookie Workshop, and when the Pet’s Expertise reaches max it can be upgraded. You can unlock additional Cookie Workshop slots through Stronghold research to place more Pets and increase your output. The amount of Jam Cookies produced depends on the Pet’s grade, increasing as the Pet is upgraded from Rare to Epic to Legendary. Before we dive into the items and rewards you can exchange Jam Cookies for, let’s dive into why you want to earn Pet Expertise— upgrading your Pets to Legendary.
Legendary Pets
Pets can be upgraded to Legendary by reaching max Pet Expertise and spending Pet Growth Tokens, which can be earned by exchanging Jam Cookies. Once a Pet has been upgraded to Legendary, several features are unlocked. Legendary Pets are granted a (random) powerful skill, and at random intermittent intervals, one of 3 effects granted by the skill will be applied to you while in combat. There are 5 Pet Skills which can be randomly unlocked, or switched between:
Cheers of the Heart
20% chance of recovering 8% of Max HP
40% chance of casting a 5s Shield for 10% of Max HP
40% chance of recovering 3% of Max HP
Cheers of Serenity
20% chance of resetting Cooldown of Movement and Stand Up Skills, and reducing the Cooldown by 40% for 8s
40% chance of casting a 5s Shield for 10% of Max HP
40% chance of recovering 3% of Max HP
Cheers of Heaven
20% chance of Attack Speed +3% for 8s
40% chance of casting a 5s Shield for 10% of Max HP
40% chance of recovering 3% of Max HP
Cheers of Courage
20% chance of Move Speed +5% for 8s
40% chance of casting a 5s Shield for 10% of Max HP
40% chance of recovering 3% of Max HP
Cheers of Resonance
20% chance of Specialty Meter gain +10% for 8s
40% chance of casting a 5s Shield for 10% of Max HP
40% chance of recovering 3% of Max HP
A Pet Skill can be changed at a Pet Management NPC in exchange for 20 Crystals. You can select which skill you want, and it can be changed again whenever you’d like.
Legendary Pets can also have their appearance changed to match that of another unlocked Pet. Changing a Pet’s looks requires a Pet Customization Potion obtained from the Cookie Vendor, but it only needs to be used once per Pet. Afterwards, that Pet can have their appearance changed any number of times. Finally, obtaining a Legendary Pet unlocks access to purchase one more slot in the Pet Inventory for more storage space.
Pet Ranch Items & Rewards
The Jam Cookie Vendor has a variety of unique rewards which can be exchanged for Jam Cookies. From pet-themed cosmetics to weekly rewards such as Card Packs and Phoenix Plumes to Pet Ranch specific items, there are plenty of valuable rewards to be earned. Some of the Pet Ranch items include:
Vitameow - a consumable vitamin that gives vitality to Pets, recovering 10% of a Pet’s Morale.
Arcane Battery - a battery booster created by the Nebelhorn Lab in Arthentine. When a booster is applied, 3 extra Jam cookies will be produced every 10mins in the Cookie Workshop.
Pet Expertise Potion - a potion created by the Vern Magick Society to increase Pet Expertise.
Pet Customization Potion - a morph potion for Pets, which can be used on Legendary Pets to unlock the reskin feature.
Pet Growth Token - a mysterious enchanted token produced by the Vern Magick Society, used when upgrading Pets.
Pet Ranch Helpers
There are four helpers in the Pet Ranch ready to assist you in managing the Pet Ranch:
Totocookie is a vendor, and will take the Jam Cookies that you've obtained from the Pet Ranch and exchange them other items.
Dispatched Chromarong will help you place your Pets in the Ranch or the Cookie Workshop.
Minky, Protector of Pets will exchange Rapport Gifts for Vitameow.
Working Achatemeow manages Pet functions; retraining, upgrading, or changing Pet Skills.
Getting Started
To unlock the Pet Ranch, you’ll need to be Stronghold Level 15, unlocked the Stronghold Farm, the Cave, and have a Pet. When you’ve accomplished those, you can complete the quest "Yay, Pet Ranch!!", given by Butler Adeline. If you haven't been working on leveling up your Stronghold— now's the time— as, after all, the exclusive Achatemeow Hoodie is a wardrobe staple and the latest in Arkesian fashion.
We wish you and your Pets luck as they train to become Legendary after the update on August 24! In the meantime, we’ll see you in Arkesia.
Lost Ark Academy - Inferno Legion Raids
Heroes of Arkesia,
The recent Spells in Spades Update included the Inferno difficulty of the Valtan Legion Raid. While Legion Raid Normal and Hard modes prove to be a challenging experience for many— Inferno takes it to the next level. It’s all about proving you’re the among the best of the best in Arkesia, and earning the accompanying prestige. We partnered with veteran Lost Ark raiders Saintone, ATK, and EndieM8 to provide tips, tricks, and other advice for groups looking to rise to the challenge.
Inferno Legion Raids Overview
Before we dive in, here’s a quick refresher on how Inferno mode varies from Normal and Hard. Rather than chasing the normal rewards of gear, honing materials, and everything else you’d receive in a Legion Raid, Inferno rewards instead showcase your victory with titles, achievements, and Stronghold structures! On top of differing rewards, there are a few key changes between Normal/Hard and Inferno difficulties:
‘Scale of Balance’ is applied, and the raid requires use of the Book of Coordination, so everyone’s gear is normalized against the level of your Legion Commander opponent.
The gate progression system will not be active - you can’t make it half-way and come back later in the week.
Inferno mode will not count against your weekly attempt limit for Legion Raids, so you can battle a Legion Raid Commander on Normal/Hard and Inferno in the same week, and try Inferno as many times as you’d like.
Getting Started
From team composition, to Battle Items, to mental approach, there’s a lot that goes into clearing a tough, team-based activity. For each of these sections we’ll provide advice from our veterans, and end with some specific tips for the Valtan Legion Raid. Before we dive in, a word of encouragement from Saintone, ATK, and EndieM8:
“So you’re thinking about challenging Inferno mode! Inferno mode is significantly harder than non-Inferno content, but you are more than good enough to clear it. Inferno mode grants you prestigious titles and other vanity that you can show off with, but by far the best thing about doing Inferno mode is that you’ll learn things about the raids and your class that you didn’t know before. It will help you get better as a player and you can enjoy utilizing that mastery in even your weekly non-Inferno runs.” -Saintone
“I’ve personally increased my performance in raids by a lot after trying out Inferno mode with my friends. If you desire to increase your mechanical skills, playing Inferno mode will definitely boost your performance for regular raids.” - ATK
“The hardest part can often be starting. We all have to start somewhere, be prepared for a few sessions of progression with many wipes. Don't psyche yourself out! It's as challenging as it is fun and exciting— and very doable by anyone!” - EndieM8
Preparation
Commitments Advice - Battle Items & Time
Saintone: Inferno mode can be costly when we consider the cost of battle items used, but the real cost is time. Something that many Inferno mode raiders experience is that they spend so much time and effort trying the fight, that they have no time for dailies and weeklies. Try to allocate a fair amount of time for both, or be prepared to rest your dailies accordingly. Realistically for your first clear, you’ll spend thousands of Gold (or tens of thousand) in Battle Items. The next major raid for the West is coming in September, so this downtime is a great opportunity to make time to try out Inferno mode!
ATK: I recommend to only play Inferno mode a few hours at a time. Inferno uses a lot of Battle Items, but the reward is titles and personal skill gains. Not everyone can be focused for such a long time, and pushing for 5-10 hours can be a waste of time if no real progress is achieved, and can add stress when games are supposed to be fun. It is actually smarter and more efficient to try a few runs for a few hours every day or every week with static groups of the same members.
Inferno Mode's difficulty significantly decreases the more damage you deal, and the more items you throw at the boss. This means using Sacred Charms right away to cleanse negative effects, Darkbombs at every downtime, always using Adrophine in certain DPS windows. If all 8 players have this mentality, you actually use less Battle Items overall.
Finding a Team
From friends, guildmates, Lost Ark Discords, the in-game Party Finder tool and more, there are plenty of ways to find like-minded raiders up for the challenge of Inferno mode. While static groups working together can help promote chemistry and progressing together, there are plenty of dedicated raiders always looking for one more.
Saintone: The trick is to find teammates that you mesh well with, as sometimes even if you’re good enough to pass the encounter, your teammates may require more practice. That’s why my first tip is patience. Everyone learns at different paces, and while you may pick up a mechanic really quick, someone else may require several more tries to get it right. Take breaks occasionally to allow everyone to refresh their mental, and try to look at everything objectively when looking for solutions. Likewise, some may not have a static party for Inferno mode. If you jump from party to party sometimes strangers you meet might not be as experienced as you. You (as a raider) need to recognize when you should ask to leave the party to look for teammates closer to your own skill level. If you ask politely, there shouldn’t be offense taken if you don’t want to be there.
EndieM8: Find a group of like minded players that want to clear the content and have a good time. Encourage your teammates when they make mistakes and be open for suggestions! Learn and have a good time together, and get that cool Valtan Statue for your Stronghold and flex that Inferno clear title!
Composition: Roles & Team Set-Up
When it comes to structuring a team, ATK has has some advice on how to best think about your team’s roles and how to set up classes using the Book of Coordination.
Class Set-Up
Every class is viable for Inferno mode. It’s always about how many skills you can land with giving up time you have. For example, keep asking yourself how many times can you squeeze in more skills while others are running around dodging patterns? Inferno mode really tests your uptime and DPS cycles for your class so it is a really nice content to try to boost your mechanical skills.
As for builds, it’s always about your comfort zone. For example, with Gunslingers, Swiftness makes your character go faster, but you can actually have a build with 0 Swiftness. While it does the most damage, you’d be slow, taking hits, or possibly dying more often which cause resets. When I do Inferno mode, I invest a few of my combat stat points (roughly 200 to 300) into Swiftness to make my animations feel a little more fluid. The lower damage can be covered by higher uptime and faster rotation of skills.
Party Set-Up
When Creating parties, It is critical for the raid leader to understand how party synergies work, like crit synergy from Gunslingers and Deadeye, and back/front attack damage synergies from Deathblade and Gunlancers. You can research and communicate with your teammates what their classes can deliver to your party. It is also very important for someone in the raid to calculate overall DPS outputs in the raid.
While it’s different for every raid group, DPS classes are split into two general groups: broken bone and consistent DPS. For broken bone DPS (which do additional damage during stagger windows) it is important to save all their skills to unload at certain points, such as when Bosses are staggered. Supports will also need to time their buffs and darkbombs at this critical timeframe to best maximize their damage. On the other hand, consistent DPS builds don’t have to worry about saving cooldowns, but their uptime is very important. Since the uptime of landing all skills is very important, the party’s support will need to play around this. Bards tend to activate Serenade of Courage at 2 bubbles, and Paladins take Magick Stream to rotate through their buffs more often. If both broken bone and consistent DPS players exist in the group, they are often split into different parties to organize support buffs accordingly.
Valtan Inferno Advice
Valtan Inferno difficulty requires item level 1445 for participation. Once you’ve set-up your build in the book of coordination, stocked up on Battle Items, and found a team, you’re ready to challenge Inferno. Below you’ll find advice from EndieM8 on first gate and Saintone’s advice on the second gate— but we’ll kick it off with a general tip from ATK:
It is critical to stay alive, so play at your comfort zone first and slowly take risks. Inferno mode often requires you to reset the fight if one person dies, because the DPS checks are really tight. Myself, alongside the majority of players, have problems with being greedy when attacking the boss and taking hits as a result. You are severely punished for taking hits in Inferno mode, (as they often result in death) so prioritize dodging first and rotating your skills, and add in more uptime once you’re comfortable dodging the patterns. You don’t want to die early and force your team to reset, as you won’t get as much practice dodging patterns.
G1 - Wolves
For the first gate in the Legion Raid, EndieM8 has a few tips and tricks to help vanquish Valtan’s beasts:
Every attack in Inferno Valtan hits like a truck. It’s important, more than ever, that you learn and can quickly identify the boss’s patterns. One of the most lethal mechanics in Gate 1 are the slash attacks spawned by bleed stacks. Try your best to avoid all of the attacks from the red wolf (and be sure to use Panacea on yourself at 2 stacks of bleed), or call for a cleanse from your teammates (such as a Paladin or Gunlancer). Sacred Charms are also critical here— use them liberally to prevent your team from eating these lethal attacks. The Purify Rune is also incredibly useful in this encounter to cleanse bleed stacks.
Try and stack up for traps and move together as a group! Every now and then the wolf you are fighting will have a green, blue or red glow in their hands. Try to stack up and stand near each other as a group, since each player will have a trap thrown at their feet. Once the traps have been deployed, move together as a group to dodge the explosions.
The damage check for this gate is tight! An interesting strategy to safely beat Gate 1 within the enrage timer is to use Thirain's Sidereal ability to hit both of the wolves simultaneously. This is often done by first separating the red and blue wolves to 12 and 6 o'clock (North/South) so they don't take reduced damage. Keep in mind it's easier to move the blue wolf than the red wolf, so players targeted by the blue wolf should move away from the red. Try and find the perfect moment to land Thirain (you'll find an almost perfect moment every time) to hit both Wolves and deal massive damage. Thirain's ability has incredible range— but it's not limitless!
G2 - Valtan
Saintone has some advice when facing the Demon Beast Legion Commander at the second gate:
Inferno Valtan is the easiest of the Inferno bosses by a long shot, and as such the DPS check isn’t terribly hard. Because of that, you can afford to play a little more cautiously and you don’t have to be greedy on literally every DPS window while you’re still learning. Focus on positioning and learning the patterns. However, because of the nature of the battle, the more damage you deal, the less dangerous patterns you will encounter. This reduces the chances that you or your allies face a sudden death, which could end up being a domino effect.
It’s possible to outright skip some of the random patterns that frequently cause raid wipes if you can proceed through the fight fast enough. For example, if your damage is on the low side, the 5x counter pattern can occur as early as 90 lines of health, and as late as 30 lines. The pattern isn’t tied to a specific HP amount though, so for some who challenge the fight it might not happen at all in your run.
Bonus tip:
“Did you know? Valtan will periodically prime himself up to do a pizza ground slam, followed by a second slam. If a player gets hit by the first ground slam (preferably a tanky class or support with shield/damage reductions) the second ground slam will be cancelled, potentially saving lives!” - EndieM8

August & September Roadmap
Heroes of Arkesia,
The July Spells in Spades update released a vast amount of content into Arkesia last week, with the Arcanist Advanced Class, Valtan Inferno Raid, the Maharaka Summer Festival, Challenge Abyssal Raids, new progression events, and more! Make sure to check out the full list in the release notes if you haven’t ventured into Arkesia to experience it firsthand yet.
Despite the flurry of new content, we know players are excited to know what’s arriving in Arkesia over the remaining summer months. In August and September, things will work a little differently. Rather than having a single major update for each month, we’ll be splitting up the changes, updates, and new content into three updates— a smaller content update in August, a quality of life and back-end tech update in early September, and a final major content update near the end of September.
The content and updates found below are some of the highlights we know players are looking forward to, and similar to the previous roadmaps, isn’t a comprehensive list of everything releasing in these updates. Stay tuned to our website, social channels, and the release notes for the full list of new content, store updates, events, bug-fixes, and more.
August
Pet Ranch
The Pet Ranch is the perfect place to play, grow, and earn rewards with your pet. Complete the 'Yay, Pet Ranch!’ quest after you've unlocked the farm, the cave, and have a pet. Recover your pet’s morale, manage pet functions, and earn Jelly Cookies that can be exchanged for valuable rewards!
Maharaka Festival - Blooming Mokokos
The ongoing Maharaka festival will receive new activities in the August Update - The leaves from the Marahaka Tree in Maharaka Paradise are known to bring good luck. Collect as many as you can during the Marahara Festival and exchange them for mounts, animal skins, and more!
September - Part 1
As we mentioned above, September will have two key updates. The first September update will include some key back-end technical updates paving the way for the second September Update. We also thought it would be a good time to integrate some of the recent quality of life improvements recently added in the South Korea region. We’ll have the full list of changes detailed in the update’s release notes, but some of the key QoL features that players can look forward to include:
Social Updates
Global Chat Room (announced in Korea as LoaTalk), Chat improvements, and Guild Group Chat.
Improved cross-server interaction, including interacting with people from different servers in Strongholds, and being able to add friends from different servers.
Customization
2 new hairstyles for each starting class.
Combat
Trixion Training Grounds updates to become a better practice environment to test out many different combinations (skill runes/gems/engravings/cards) of settings with more skill points.
A PvP Class balance patch.
Settings Improvements
Better PvP settings, improved Guild systems, and improved support and settings for controllers.
September - Part 2
The second update in September will be the major content update, including a new Advanced Class, Legion Raid, and events. This update will also include some server merges. We’ll continue to monitor which worlds could use a merge, and provide comprehensive details on which servers are merging and how the merge functions leading up to the update.
New Advanced Class - Machinist
The Machinist arrives in Arkesia armed to the teeth with highest-tech machine guns, laser weapons, and drones found in Arthentine— ready to blast, burn, and neutralize any threat with surgical precision. When standard weapons and drone strikes aren’t enough to take down a target, the Machinist can activate their identity skill and suit up in cutting-edge technology with the Hypersync ability. Energy cores for the high-tech Hypersync suit can be charged by landing attacks, and once entered, Hypersync core energy will be expended by abilities until the Machinist runs out. The Machinist will join the Deadeye, Gunslinger, Artillerist, and Sharpshooter as the fifth Gunner Advanced Class.
Kakul-Saydon Legion Raid
Kakul-Saydon enters the battlefield in the third Legion Raid. In this raid, you’ll face the insanity of the Midnight Circus as you battle members of the Mayhem Legion and Legion Commander Kakul-Saydon. No revives are available mid-battle, so be ready to fight for your life. Differing from Valtan & Vykas, Kakul-Saydon is a four-player Legion raid. This Legion Raid has 3 gates, and is complete with a swathe of new unique characteristics, abilities, and mechanics. While players will need to be Item Level 1475 to attempt the Normal difficulty of the raid, an easier version of the raid called Midnight Circus: Rehearsal can be entered by players at Item Level 1385 for to practice the difficult mechanics and teamwork required to vanquish the Mayhem Legion.
New Events, New Skins & More!
There will be new events, new skins and more in September. We’re excited to witness the epic battles against Kakul-Saydon, and witness the high-tech battlefield prowess of the Machinist in action. Stay tuned to our website, social channels, and the release notes for the full list of new islands, store updates, events, bug-fixes, and more over the coming months. We’ll see you in Arkesia!

Lost Ark Academy - Alternate Characters Featuring ATK
Heroes of Arkesia,
The Spells in Spades Update brings a new Advanced Class— the Arcanist— along with a variety of new progression events for new and existing players alike. With new alternate characters available to level-up easily with tools like the Punika Powerpass, Hyper Express Event, and more, we thought it would be the perfect time to sit down with the Lost Ark legend ATK and share some tips and tricks with players interested in expanding their roster. With his own stacked roster of over 20 characters, not to mention the skill needed to play them, few know more about managing a roster and making efficient alternate characters than ATK.
If you’re interested in learning about the new progression events, you can find specific details in The Spells in Spades Release Notes. Find ATK’s advice on making alternate characters and managing a growing roster below!
BENEFITS OF ALTS
Before getting into how to pick an alternate character or when he recommended progressing an alt, we started off by asking ATK for his thoughts on some of the benefits of creating alternate characters.
TRYING NEW PLAYSTYLES
Trying out different classes can help you get better at Lost Ark in general. By experiencing different playstyles, you can better learn about back-attack classes, the different DPS positions and rotations of classes, and better understand how support plays. Knowing how the support/team-buff operates for various classes is also crucial to generally improve performance.
MORE GOLD & RESOURCES
ATK dives further into some specifics in the Progression section below, but simply put, having multiple characters ready for Legion Raids yields you more Gold. With the recent additions of Legion Commanders Valtan and Vykas, having a Item Level (ilvl) 1430 or 1445 character will get you a significant Gold boost— as a Normal Legion Raid clear grants 2,500, and Hard Mode clear grants 4,500. Up to 6 characters on your roster can earn Gold from weekly activities, called “raw Gold generation”.
Apart from Gold, alt characters can generate a variety of materials by doing daily Chaos Dungeons, Guardian Raids, and Silver through Una’s Tasks. Una’s Task rewards are character bound, but Silver isn’t! You can also sell many of the materials from Chaos Dungeon and Guardian Raids your alt characters generate, or transfer them to another character on your roster. For example, having a 1370 character can yield you materials from the 1370 Chaos Dungeon, Nightfox Yoho for Great Honor Leapstones and Tier 3 Guardian and Destruction stones. Characters stay in Tier 3 for a long time, so simply having another character in Tier 3 will help you gather various materials to bolster all of your roster’s characters. Unlike gold generation, you can have more than 6 characters that can generate materials, but I always want to advise don’t make too many characters or you will be overwhelmed with dailies!
VERSATILITY, EXPLORATION, AND UNA’S TASKS
Bifrost teleports are character specific, meaning more characters will give you more total Bifrost teleports for your roster. With more points, you can strategically set your Bifrosts to different locations you need to travel to, like special event islands, traveling merchants, or for different Una’s Tasks.
You can work on multiple Una’s Tasks with alts, as each character can do 3 Daily Una’s Tasks. If you find yourself wanting to do a specific Una’s Task to earn Leapstones for your main, you can utilize your alt characters to earn progress on other Una’s Tasks that grant important reputation rewards, like Giant Hearts, Omnium Stars, Skill Point Potions, and more.
Sometimes during an event where you earn various tokens to trade for rewards, tokens can be obtained by completing Chaos Dungeons, Guardian Raids or even Una’s Tasks. If you happen to have enough characters, you can generate enough tokens for doing dailies, if you don’t enjoy the event’s activities.
PICKING AN ALTERNATE CHARACTER
Are there any tips you have for players when picking a new character?
I think people should try all the classes for fun! I would never pick a class based on the meta or a “best performing” class, I get asked this all the time and I believe people should play the class they enjoy playing. There is nothing more stressful investing into characters you do not want to play simply because they’re in the meta.
Have at least one support in your roster. You don’t need to if you dislike the playstyle, but I can guarantee your knowledge of Lost Ark will double if you play a support. DPS players can perform better if they have a support in their roster, because they know how a support thinks and how they rotate their team-buff skills. Also, it’s easier to learn mechanics in a raid with support because you have more time to observe the boss’s patterns.
Leverage your existing resources. Legendary Engraving recipe books are expensive, so people tend to make alts based on what Legendary Engravings they’ve read, for example:
Hit Master is used by Artillerist, Sorceress, Sharpshooter, Gunslinger, Arcanist, and Shadowhunter.
Ambush Master is used by most back attack classes like Deathblade, Striker, Deadeye, Reaper, Scrapper, and Control Glaivier.
Supports use Engravings like Expert and Awakening.
Grudge, Cursed Doll, and Keen Blunt are expensive, but are used by all DPS classes, so you can make a variety of DPS alts if you’ve read them.
DUPLICATE CHARACTERS
Are there pros/cons to making an alt that's the same class as your main, or a duplicate of another class you enjoy playing?
Pros
You can share Class Engravings and Gems.
If you’ve read Legendary Class Engravings, your alts can benefit from it.
Gems do a significant role in damage, and if you have characters of the same class, they can benefit from the high level gems.
Your mastery of the class will be great.
I have seen one-trick players inLost Arkthat were significantly better than players who play multiple classes simply due to their mastery and understanding of the class.
If there are users who are planning to be the best player of a certain class, I’d suggest they should make multiple alts of the same class.
Cons
Unless you love the class, it can become repetitive.
As mentioned above in the benefits section, having different alts can help you learn how different classes work and how your teammates think about, or position themselves, in different situations. While you can master a class this way, you might not have as much insight into your teammates’ thinking.
PROGRESSING YOUR ALTS
When advancing/honing your roster, do you have any tips for players? When’s the right time to push a character?
I get this question all the time— and I want to stress that it should always be specific to the player— because fun and goals are subjective topics. Here’s a good foundation that could potentially help.
If you think it’s fun, do it! I have so many people trying to justify pushing a character’s ilvl. The truth is, you cannot justify pushing a character by means other than your desire to make the character stronger. You get more resources, but the payback usually does not cover the initial investment. Unless you think it’s fun, you should never buy materials to push. The game provides you enough bound items if you do your dailies. Gold is valuable, and I wouldn’t spend it to push your alts.
Play at your own pace! I would never over-push your characters with Gold unless you desire to play them, due to it being fun. Think of it as a marathon, not a sprint.
MAKING ALTS MORE EFFICIENT
Prioritizing Versatility, Silver, and same-tier materials make an efficient alt. More Bifrost and Lopang Una’s Tasks for Silver gains are good enough for a low investment alt. For example;
Item level 960 - 1301 yields you 52,560 Silver per day.
Item level 1302 - 1414 yields you 79,200 Silver per day.
Item level 1415 - 1490 yields you 93,600 Silver per day.
If you keep doing your dailies, you’ll gain enough bound materials to keep pushing the alt’s ilvl, and then your alts will be able to generate gold. Here are some of the major thresholds for reference:
This is the ilvl you can experience the character’s “true late game” with full Relic gear and accessory sets. This is the ilvl you should experience before deciding pushing further as main, because it becomes significantly more expensive to push further to experience newer content.
This is where most of my characters are parked, and this is when Deskaluda becomes a 2-3 minute fight with full Relics.
Any ilvl above 1445 is considered a main investment. This category is for under 6 characters because only 6 characters can make weekly Gold. Any more characters above this level are not recommended by me, as you could be overwhelmed by dailies and content.
SWAPPING MAINS
Is there ever a good time or way to swap your main?
A good time to swap your main is simply anytime you enjoy and desire to make that class stronger. Sometimes you will find yourself really enjoy playing a certain class, even if that class is low level. Mains should always be based on how much fun you have, not the ilvl. Item level always comes as you spend time on the character. I have so many friends who switch mains all the time, since there are enough resources for everyone to utilize to try new characters, like Trixion in-game and watching streamers who play the class.

Spotlight
New Mage Advanced Class - Arcanist
The Arcanist imbues special cards with her Magick and uses them for a wide variety of effects. From slicing up enemies with a deluge of thrown cards to summoning powerful Magick attacks from the cards themselves, the Arcanist has a trick up her sleeve for every situation. The Arcanist will join the Bard and Sorceress as the third available Mage Advanced Class.
You can find more information in our recent Arcanist Lost Ark Academy to see if the Arcanist makes a good addition to your roster. Learn about the three types of skills, the Specialty Card Meter, and start planning the skills and engravings you’re interested in using to enhance your impact on the battlefield.
Valtan Legion Raid - Inferno Difficulty
The most difficult version of Legion Raids, the Inferno difficulty is all about proving you’re the among the best of the best in Arkesia, and earning the prestige accompanying that feat. Rather than chasing the normal rewards of gear, honing materials, and everything else you’d receive in a Legion Raid, Inferno rewards instead showcase your victory with titles, achievements, Stronghold structures, and more! A new in-game vendor will be added for players to access a variety of prestigious rewards, earned after various numbers of clears.
There are a few key differences between Normal/Hard and Inferno difficulties:
‘Scale of Balance’ is applied, and the raid requires use of the Book of Coordination, so everyone’s gear is normalized against the level of your Legion Commander opponent.
The gate progression system will not be active - you can’t make it half-way and come back later in the week.
Inferno mode will not count against your weekly attempt limit for Legion Raids, so you can play Valtan on Normal/Hard and Inferno in the same week, and try Inferno as many times as you’d like.
Valtan Inferno difficulty will require item level 1445 for players to participate.
Maharaka Festival & Waterpop Arena
Enjoy pool-party pandemonium in a new time-limited Event! Hop in the Maharaka Paradise pool and compete on teams as you try to push the opposing team out of the arena by firing at them with a Water Pro water gun. As the game progresses, the arena gets smaller and smaller. Try and rack up points as quickly as possible to win. The event occurs every two hours, and players can earn Maharaka Leafs to exchange at an Event Vendor for a variety of valuable rewards. If you’re excited to further embrace the pool-party summer spirit, you’ll definitely want to checkout the Store Updates section below.
Challenge Abyssal Dungeons
Similar to how Challenge Guardian Raids applies Scale of Harmony to equalize your power against your foe in Guardian Raids, Challenge Abyssal Dungeons will use this treatment on Abyssal Dungeons in a new weekly activity. With greater challenge also comes greater rewards. Various honing material selection pouches— like Challenge Guardians, you can pick the offering closest to your item level— will rotate through the rewards, and cards aplenty are available as drops or in the end-of-dungeon loot auction. You can play through each Abyssal Dungeon once (per roster) each week.
General Updates
New Progression Events
This update introduces two new progression events, a Punika Powerpass and a Hyper Express Event that helps accelerate a character from Item Level 1302 to 1370.
Players will receive a Punika Powerpass after completing Punika's quest “Berver's Friend” during the event period. To access this quest, players must first complete all Adventure Quests (marked by purple exclamation marks) on Punika to collect stamps and become a citizen. Once the final quest in this chain, “Honorary Punikan" has been completed, you can talk to Nia in Nia village to start "Berver's Friend."
If you've already finished the quest before the update, you'll get the Powerpass when the event starts! The Punika Powerpass will function like the North Vern Powerpasses available to players in the launch version of Lost Ark— once you’ve completed the storyline through that continent, you can use it to bring an alternate character to that point in the game. With the Punika Powerpass, you'll receive Item Level 1302 gear. This is an event Powerpass that expires on September 28.
Players will be able to designate one character between item Level 1302 and 1370 on their roster to participate in the Hyper Express Event, where they’ll earn honing materials, and level up quickly to Item Level 1370. The designated character will earn rewards upon reaching Item Level 1302, 1310, 1320, and every ten levels until Item Level 1370— which grants a particularly valuable reward.
We’re excited to see the new alternate characters roaming Arkesia as players experience different playstyles or quickly level up a brand new Arcanist. For newer players, we hope the new Mokoko challenges found below help them quickly level up and reach the additional events.
Mokoko Challenge
This update will replace the existing Welcome Challenge series of missions with the new Mokoko Challenge. Functioning similarly to the Welcome Challenge, the Mokoko Challenge layers in additional progression mechanics to help accelerate new players and characters through Tier 1 and 2.
Mokoko Buff - Players that have a new account or haven’t played within the past 30 days and have no characters at item level 1370 or higher will receive the Mokoko Buff. Users with the Mokoko Buff will deal 20% more damage to monsters and take 40% less damage. After 90 days pass or a character in your Roster reaches item level 1370, you will no longer be considered a new adventurer and the buff will end.
Mokoko Challenge Missions - Players that have the Mokoko Buff active can complete special missions to earn honing and other progression materials, helping them reach item level 1370. When the Mokoko Buff ends, the Mokoko Challenge missions will no longer be available, and unclaimed rewards for completed missions will be sent to Universal Storage.
Growth Support Effect
This update also includes a new Growth Support Effect which will aid players in advancing their characters to item level 1370.

Required honing breakthrough materials and cost reduced by 50% when honing Tier 3 item level 1302 gear from level 1 to 15.
Tier 3 honing costs decreased (30% Gold decrease and 50% gear XP decrease).
Increased honing success rate by 10%.
General Updates & QoL
Added a new daily log-in reward track.
Gold Changes
Added new preventions to deter gold sellers. Paid gold (purchased from the currency exchange) will have a 3-day withholding period. Gold that is under a withholding period will be called 'withheld funds'. Gold without a withholding period will be called 'available funds'. Withheld funds will be restricted in the following ways:
Cannot send withheld funds through mail
Cannot deduct from withheld funds when accepting billing mail
Cannot use on 1:1 trades
Cannot use in Auction House
Cannot use in Marketplace
Cannot use in Loot Auctions
Jukebox
Added a Jukebox for Strongholds. Talk to the new Jukebox Exchange NPC in your Stronghold to start the “One Thing Missing” quest and learn how to use your Jukebox.
Players can now change the background music while inside the Stronghold or near a Jukebox.
Only 5 Jukebox items can be used at the same time.
New soundtracks can be purchased from a variety of different NPCs like the new Jukebox Exchange NPC, various Wandering Merchants, vendors located outside different ports, and more.
Most soundtracks require players to complete specific Achievements before they can be purchased.
Please note that the song "Consolation" will be unavailable, and will be provided for the Jukebox in a future patch.

General Store Updates
Added a new Weapon Growth Pack, and refreshed the two Growth Support Packs sold in the June Update. Growth Support packs will be purchasable once per roster, per month.
Added a variety of new packs and items to celebrate the launch of the Arcanist:
The Arcanist Level Complete Pack, which can only be purchased and opened by an Arcanist.
The Rohendel's Destiny Special Package, which includes Battle Items, Silver, and a Title to accompany the Rohendel's Destiny skin set.
Added the Arcanist’s Dawn skins.
Added Powerpasses that can be purchased on the character select UI by pressing the “Powerpass” button. There are five passes available, each corresponding to a major continent.
The passes start with North Vern, for 1100 Royal Crystals. Unlike the other passes, the North Vern pass can be acquired by a brand new player to start their adventure in North Vern at Item Level 302.
The other 4 passes increase in price by 1100 Royal Crystals per continent; 2200 for a Rohendel Pass, 3300 for a Yorn pass, 4400 for a Feiton Pass, and 5500 for a Punika Pass. Pricing will automatically adjust based on completed content for a specific character; for example, if a character has completed through the Rohendel questline, a Punika Pass will instead cost 3300 Royal Crystals.
Players will be able to purchase these Powerpasses even if they have not completed the in-game content on a previous character.
These passes will be used immediately upon purchase, and is not eligible for a refund.
Adjusted price and card quantities in the Special Card Package.
Added Summer Dye Packs, a Battle Support Item Package, and a new Item Level Complete Crystal Pack for Tier 3.

Spotlight
Vykas Legion Raid
Vykas follows Valtan as the second Legion Raid arriving into the Western version of Lost Ark. In this raid, you’ll face dangerously beguiling members of the Covetous Legion before battling Legion Commander Vykas in her ‘Garden of Crimson Delight’. No revives are available mid-battle, so be ready to fight for your life. Vykas is an eight-player Legion raid, has 3 gates, and is complete with a swathe of new unique characteristics, abilities, and mechanics. Players will need to be Item Level 1430 to attempt Normal difficulty, and 1460 for Hard.
The Relic Quality gear sets available at Legion Commander Gear Crafting NPCs require materials from both the Valtan and Vykas Legion Raids to craft a complete set. The Vykas Legion Raid introduces two new items that can be crafted into gear; Covetous Fangs for Legendary gear, and Covetous Wings for Relic gear. Players able to vanquish the three gates in the Vykas Legion Raid will be rewarded at each stage with increasingly desirable loot, matching the difficulty of those battles. Clearing each gate will grant Gold, Covetous Fangs and Wings, Relic Accessories and honing materials. The final gate can include additional special items, such as Engraving Recipes, Card Packs, and Honing Books. Additionally, after successfully clearing each gate, a bonus chest can be purchased with some of the Gold just earned, giving additional Gear-crafting and Honing materials, Accessories, and Ability Stones. The final gate of the Legion Raid will also kick off a loot auction when completed, allowing players to bid on a bonus Gear-crafting Material Chest, Engravings, Honing Books, and more.
Players can participate in Legion Raids after completing the guide quest ‘[Guide] Notice: Legion Raid’.
Kungelanium Guardian Raid
A fearsome force of evil in the Chain War, Kungelanium has awoken from his glacial slumber by the re-emergence of the Demon Legions and the Chaos spreading throughout Arkesia. Joining Deskaluda, the frost predator Kungelanium will enter the gauntlet of powerful Level 6 Guardians available to challenge in a Guardian Raid. Kungelanium will be available for players to challenge once they reach item level 1460 or higher. Like other Guardian Raids, you can attempt to vanquish alone, with a party, or matchmake with up to three other heroes.
Thronespire
Arriving in Arkesia with the Demonic invasion after the events in South Vern, The Demon's Tower is connected to Petrania— the world home to Kazeros's Demon Legions. A distorted dimension has been created by the resonance between Petrania and the Tower. The Holy Sacrian Empire has confirmed that Demons are invading through this dimension, and have named it Thronespire. The dimension is growing, and is threatening Arkesia. The priests and knights of the Holy Sacrian Empire are trying to hold their ground, but they're running short on supplies. Defeat the Demons pouring out of the Thronespire and defend Arkesia.
Thronespire is a new single-player dungeon experience in a twisted dimension with 50 levels. In Thronespire, you’ll battle until you run out of time, working to defeat as many levels and enemies as possible before you meet your match and succumb to the Demon Legions. Completing the first 25 levels grant first-time clear rewards (you’ll earn rewards for every level you conquer). The other 25 levels are focused on prestige and completion times— proving you have the solo skills it takes to conquer anything the Demon Legions throw your way. Players will need to be Item Level 1325 to participate.
General Updates
Heartbeat Island
Need some R&R after fighting the Demonic Legions in Arkesia’s hot summer months? Spend some time relaxing on the beach or dancing with your friends on the new event island: Heartbeat Island. You can find Heartbeat Island by speaking to Jollous, the festival expert located in major cities, or by sailing directly to it (located near Anikka). You do not need to complete a quest in a City to enter, and once you've visited, you can use the Ocean Liner to return!
Once you've arrived on Heartbeat Island you can collect Festival Coins through various activities, which can be exchanged for a variety of rewards. There are daily quests where you receive Festival Coins just by relaxing in a designated area, and hourly quests for dancing and defeating Rekiel, the Dancing Queen.
