Quick hotfix for the last patch - Patch 1.0.2.12355
After publishing the last patch we realized that there was an issue with customizing controls (or rather resetting to default controls) that could lead to broken movement and camera controls.
That should now be fixed!
A bunch of new fixes - Patch 1.0.2.12353
We're keeping busy working on more and more fixes, stability improvements and other changes inspired by your feedback and today we proudly present:
fixed a crash that could happen when trying to start the game
fixed a crash at the end of chapter 4
fixed some menu crashes
fixed bug that would change the resolution after applying certain video settings
fixed some issues with the "Customize Controls" screen
fixed bug that allowed falling through the floor as an armadillo
improved LODs (and with that the look on lower end hardware) on some objects
fixed some smaller issues with animal AI systems (especially some issues with swarms of birds and fish)
some localization fixes
and some other smaller stuff here and there
If you experienced any of the crashes mentioned above, go ahead and see if that still occurs! And if you still see crashes anywhere, old or new, we'd really appreciate it if you would tell us in any channel or as a comment under this post! :)
Have fun! Your moonies
First patch of the year - Patch 1.0.1.12244
The new year is well underway and of course we've been busy over the last weeks and have a brand new, shiny patch for you! Here's what changed:
you can now customize the controls! Since this is a new feature and naturally there are a lot of combinations of keys you can set, there might still be some issues when using special keys. If you find anything like that, please reach out! :)
fixed a crash that some of you reported in connection with video drivers
fixed the (hopefully) last issues with the achievement system! Some of you reported not being able to unlock the very last achievement. This should now be fixed! It should automatically trigger once you start the game, if you have all the other achievements unlocked. If it doesn't, try switching between animals to trigger the achievement check.
optimized loading times and level loading for lower spec PCs
fixed bug that resulted in lower resolutions when changing between fullscreen and windowed mode
fixed some camera issues with the buffalo and sloth
and more minor fixes
Also, we decided to leave in the Christmas mode for another few weeks, especially since some of you weren't able to activate it properly! Please try again after this patch and report back if you still can't activate it!
And as always: please continue sending us your feedback, it is highly appreciated and helps us dramatically to improve the game! :)
Cheers, your moonies
Feeling Christmassy!
Hey lovely Lost Emberians!
We have a special patch for you!
We fixed various minor bugs, some hiccups with credits and Fallen Heroes names and the long awaited memory / achievement bug, but since we also felt a little festive while doing so, we slammed in some hats and ornaments as well. And, it's snowing wherever you go :D So if you also feel christmassy, go to Extras - Special and switch on the Christmas Mode!
The event is on from right now to January 6th. Don't miss it!
Hope you enjoy our silly little Christmas mode! <3
Happy Holidays everyone! Enjoy some quality time with your loved ones and your favorite games!
Nominate Lost Ember for the Steam Awards!
Now that nominations for the Steam Awards are open, we would highly appreciate it if you would nominate Lost Ember for the category "Outstanding Story-Rich Game"!
Awards like these always give a lot of visibility, so for small indie studios like us they're a huge chance to gain traction and get Lost Ember in front of more eyes!
To maximize our chances for a nomination we decided to try and focus on one category. And after reading and seeing your wonderful reactions to our story, the decision fell to "Outstanding Story-Rich Game"!
If you enjoyed the game, please click the button above or hop over to the Lost Ember store page and click on the big "NOMINATE THIS GAME FOR AN AWARD" button.
Thank you very much! <3 Your moonies
And another one - Patch 1.0.0.12054
And here's the next smaller patch:
fixed a bug that caused the game to be still running in the background after closing it
fixed a bug that caused the game to be started at a later point when selecting a "Fallen Hero" name before the game start
fixed Chinese localization issues
If you experience any other issues, just write them here in the comments or, if it's a critical bug, just open a new thread!
Cheers, Your moonies :)
Collisions and Cameras - Patch 1.0.0.12033
And another small update that fixes some of the most commonly reported bugs!
when switching out of another animal, the collision checks are way better to avoid getting stuck or become the wolf where it shouldn't be allowed
improved camera clipping issues, especially with the goat
fixed a bug that caused memories to be counted as triggered when they weren't
fixed a UI bug that showed a higher number of collected mushrooms than there actually are
I hope these fixes improve the game for those of you who encountered these issues before! And again: please continue sending us your feedback, it is highly appreciated and helps us dramatically!
Cheers, your moonies
A couple of fixes
Thank you very much for your feedback so far! We've been looking into all the issues you reported and managed to fix a bunch of it over the weekend.
What changed so far:
seemingly random crashes at various points in the game
some collision and clipping issues that could cause you to be stuck somewhere
the wolf not being able to move after certain actions
some cut off voices
some localization issues
various other smaller fixes and changes
We're still looking into other issues we saw like crashes when starting up the game (if you experience that, try updating your graphics drivers, it seems like it helped some) or other corners you can get stuck in.
Please keep on reporting any issues you have with the game, it's highly appreciated and we're doing our best to fix what we can!
Your moonies :)
We have a date!
Oh you guys!
I don’t know where to start… How ‘bout I just throw you a teaser that tells you?
[previewyoutube="kkYyTU7u6q0;full"]
And also, look at this: https://www.playstation.com/en-us/games/lost-ember-ps4/ So official, it’s almost like it’s going to be real in like a couple of weeks! Waaah! 4 weeks may still sound like a long time to you guys. To us it feels like it’s the day after tomorrow (hopefully without all the disaster :D)
In case you’re still listening, I’ll try and tell you a bit about the last couple of weeks, or months, maybe months actually, but my feeling for time is all messed up by now. We went through several submissions for PS4, XB1, PC (Steam and GOG). Oh yea, we have a GOG page as well now. Created all the words and pretty pictures for storefronts. Worked on loads and loads more fixes on the games, while also handling localization into 9 different languages, three of them fully voiced (English, German, Japanese). And tested and fixed some more and tested again… Quite a bit of paperwork was also part of the deal. Game development is so diverse, at least when you’re a small team :D Max is still working on the teaser next to me while I’m writing this. Tobias seems to be fighting storefronts in all languages. I’m still implementing Chinese in the background, switching back and forth. So, over all, our brains may be slightly scrambled by now and we’re very very ready for an island somewhere with no internet, but we’re sticking around to see all of your guys’ feedback to the game so soon. Can Not Wait. (actually there’s still loads more to do, so we’re certainly not sitting and waiting, but you know... brains)
Love you people!
Your Moonies
Status Update
Hey guys,
just wanted to say, we’re still alive and making good progress on the game. Our Beta tier supporters have been testing the Beta for two weeks now. Looks like they’re pretty happy with it too :) Nevertheless there are still a couple of issues to fix and until we’re absolutely sure, we will not set a new date. Don’t worry though, pretty soon we’re going to suddenly and unexpectedly shout a new date out to all channels ;) We’re getting closer every day and the game keeps looking better and better.
Gamescom With release being close, Tobias and I went to Gamescom to give interviews with the press to promote Lost Ember. It hurts not being in the office for 3 days, but it’s absolutely vital to Lost Ember’s success, so we went. And it seems like it was worth it. We had back to back interviews. And they all enjoyed the hands-on demo a lot. Fingers crossed they also write about it ;)
Kawaii Japan Mooooar news: We just found a wonderful partner who is going to handle Japan for us and they will even record Japanese voice over, which is so cool, because I have high hopes for Japan and having them help is probably bringing Lost Ember in front of so many more Japanese eyes. I think Japan might like our Kawaii critters.
Talk to you soon. We seriously cannot wait to show you what we made. Thanks for listening <3
