Lost Empire 2977

UPDATE 5.0

We have worked about 4526 hours, fixed about 5 324 bugs, improved all areas/levels in terms of quality and performance. Most levels have been extended, with more explorable areas. The storyline is clearer and should give the player a better grasp of the main story through the game.

The main improvements are:

  • Multiple player characters/save-games possible
  • Jump/roll evade action and animation added to controls
  • Streamlined combat
  • Vastly improved performance/FPS
  • New vehicles and Mechs
  • Several new worlds added
  • New items and loot
  • Increased most areas in size
  • Updated the controller scripts
  • Added character progress window
  • Added camera settings window
  • Added volume controls (music and background)
  • Added more types of workbenches (crafting)
  • Optimized all AI scripts to improve performance
  • Finalized the player ship and space combat
  • Added loot to space areas
  • Each outside area is now in average 2x2km or more
  • Added the Behemoth battlemech (craftable)
  • New abilities
  • A new tutorial / introduction added to level 1
  • The player nemesis / adversary is revealed

There are still a few things left before the game is ready for full release, but with update 5.0 the gap has narrowed greatly. At the current state, the game should present itself as a complete game with a few shortcomings.

So, what remains before a full release?

In short, not much! Mainly polish and bug fixes. With that said, we still have a few points left that need development:

  • Titans / bosses, most are currently too easy to beat and lack the desired quality
  • The character progress window
  • More worlds to visit / explore
  • More side-quests
  • Reveal the player nemesis / adversary further
  • Capital ships

And most importantly, fixing bugs! Up to this point, we have received a lot of feedback from beta-testers and players that has been really helpful on improving the game and gameplay. We hope that anyone who experience any shortcomings report them through the forum.

Another update is coming!

For the last few months, we have been working hard to add features, improve gameplay / graphics, write tutorials and much, much more. All of these upgrades will be included in the next update, coming in a few weeks. The goal is full release this autumn!

The update will contain the following:

  • Multiple save/load games / characters
  • Updated controllers
  • Adjustable camera settings
  • Streamlined / improved gameplay and combat
  • In-game tutorials and user manual (work in progress)
  • Greatly improved performance and graphics
  • Bigger/expanded areas – more to explore
  • More items
  • More content / quests
  • Many, many bug fixes

Although the update will bring all of this, and more, there is still much to be done before full release. We wish/plan to add more side quests and explorable star-systems, even more items/loot (especially legendary items) and additional interactable NPC’s.

This is only a few of the updates that is coming. More details about the update will be released when it
is ready to launch.

For now, stay safe and take care!

WEEK LONG sale almost over!

In less than 20 hours, the week long sale will be over. If you are interested in the game and want to support the development, this is the perfect time to grab it!

With update 4.0 the whole main story-line is done and the game can be played from beginning to end.

Will it be completed?

Yes! With almost two years of development, it's only a few months of work left. Most of the core mechanics are done and most of the areas are done.

What's left is:

  • RPG elements: Follower quests and side-quests
  • More dialogues
  • More and improved voice-overs
  • More areas (5 new areas are almost complete)
  • Polish
  • Improving the save/load functionality

To sum up, we are not worried about completing the game but hope to get one or two weeks of extra development time on the project.

Update 4.1: Fixes and improvements

Bug fixes in 4.1:

  • Area transition between Earth/mountain area to the Guardian tomb now works
  • Adjustments to level design in Earth Guardian tomb
  • Performance improvements to Earth/mountain area
  • Game menu upgrade
  • Save/load fixes/improvements 1: "continue" button/main menu now check character class rather that XP to check for previous saves.
  • Save/load fix 2: "Save complete" message when save through game menu is successful.
  • Fixed a logic error in the "Galaxy hub" that prevented access to the Sanmari sector.

The game should now be fully playable from start to finish. We have had several trial runs through the whole game with success and without bugs.

What's left? Fixes and content

  • More content: Follower quests
  • More dialogues
  • More content: Additional areas
  • More items and loot, and hopefully "legendary" items quests
  • Fix item cool-down issue on items that may occur after scene transitions
  • Improve/develop space exploration and combat further
  • Upgrade to follower AI
  • Further improve Save/load functionality
  • Visual upgrades: some areas need adjustments and more detail
  • And more...
