Lost in the Ocean VR

Patch #3.1

Hello Folks,

my apologies for not sticking around for a while, being an indie developer is rarely an easy job, especially when you have to deal with real life duties. Anyway, we are back to work on the project now and we promise we won’t go anywhere this time. To prove that the tide has changed we are glad to announce the release of Update #3.1 (patch notes below).

Furthermore, Lost in the Ocean Vr – Oculus Rift Edition is almost ready, so stay tuned if you are an Oculus Rift happy owner!

But that’s not all, we started working on Update #4.0 already and we’ll provide you with more details during next few weeks.

So for now enjoy this new update and, of course, give us your feedback. We are always hungry for feedbacks, either positive or negative. A bug report, a suggestion, a critique ― we appreciate the whole bundle!

PATCH NOTES

NEW GAME MODE

  • Relax Mode: for those who are interested in a relaxing and contemplative experience, who are willing to drift away from everyday concerns and let go. You will not feel Hunger and Thirst, so you can take your time and without any hurry enjoy the island and its panorama. No hustle.

  • Tutorial Mode: a Survival game is a game where you have to figure out how to survive, but sometimes it’s not easy to understand the game dynamics. So we decided to add the tutorial mode, which gives the player much more instructions and visual information, unfortunately at the expense of game immersion.

NEW INTERACTABLE ITEMS

  • Polaroid:such a beautiful island, it’s worth taking some pictures to show your friends. If you ever make it back to civilization of course.

  • Chest:tired to teleport from one side of the island to the other carrying only 2 items at a time? Now, stranded on the white sand, you will find a wooden chest to store your precious belongings and move them wherever you want. But whose chest was it and what was inside? No one can tell.

CHANGES

  • Fishing Difficulty:we understood that the fish’s trails were passing too far from the beach, so we moved them a bit closer the coast. Now fishing with fish traps will be easier.

  • GameObjects Physics: we changed a bit the physics of some interactable objects on the island (stones, woods, etc...) to make it more realistic.

BUG FIXES

  • Button click: we were aware that some players were experiencing problems clicking on the in-game buttons (e.g. on the radio, on the shelter and so on). This bug is now fixed.

  • Crafting Table: there is an issue with the crafting material detection on the crafting table. We haven’t managed to fix the bug just yet, but while we work on it we added visual indications of the materials detected.

Patch #3 is Live!

After some weeks of delay, finally Update 3 is ready to be downloaded! We needed some time more than we forecast because, like you can see now, the game changes radically.

Patch notes:

Save System: after you will reach to build and settle a shelter, you will have the opportunity to save your game progress from a in-game panel.

New island: like many of you requested, a totally new, and so much bigger island, where to start your adventure. Of course, in this new island there are new kind of vegetation and animals.

Plants regeneration: with the Save System the game begins to need also some kind of renewable resources, so we introduced the first plants regeneration system concerning the plants from where to gather the rope. After the plants is totally used, it will grow up again in some time.

New Features:
Head Height:
after some players reporting problems with the height of the camera, we decided to introduce the opportunity of regulating this height directly while playing the game. So now there is a slider in menu stats panel to modify this parameter.

New interactions: now it will be possible to gather rope from plants also with the different kinds of woods, and also raw woods could be used to craft hammer or axe

New animals:
Fish: bigger island, of course many more fishes and this time not just like decorative view. Using fishtrap it will be possible to capture fishes in the water and after cooked they can be eaten.

Seagull: we introduced this new kind of animals that of course can be killed with an axe or with a bow and after cook can be eaten.

Shark: just to create the right atmosphere (decorative)

New items:
Book of crafting:
VR give us new ways to interpret a survival game, and this is one of this: instead of having a boring crafting menu, you will find a book on the island. This book will be the container of all the recipes for crafting items. On it you will find the instructions about which materials do you need and what to do you need to do.

New craftable items:
Longbow:
exactly what this word mean.

Arrows: with a bow you will need to craft some arrows

Fishtrap: throwing the fishtrap in the sea, a little pole with a rope tied will be sticked in the sand. Meanwhile the fishtrap is in the water, it will attract the nearby fishes and capture them. When the player will pick up the little pole, the fishtrap will be pulled to shore, and once opened it will release the fishes captured.

Hammer: in the new island there will be a new kind of stone, that will be used (in the same way of crafting of the axe) to craft a hammer. This item will be useful to craft some new item that can be crafted with on the crafting table.

Shelter: finally it will be possible to craft something to use like a shelter. Once settled in to the ground it will give access to save menu panel.

Crafting table: like the raft in the previous island, it will be possible to build such workstation directly throwing the materials in the right spot. This table will be needed to craft some of the new items.

We sincerely hope that you will enjoy the new island and we are already curious to know your feedback about it. And yes, if you find some bugs please report to us and we will try to fix as soon as possible.

Almost there

Hello everyone!
We would like to inform the Community about our dev progress: we are almost at the point.
The new island and the save system have been set up, together with all the new items, animals and so on.
At the beginning we planned to release Patch#3 today, so you could play it for Easter Holidays, but we didn’t reach it because the testing part is taking a bit longer than the time we expected, and we need a couple of weeks more before releasing.

So please, be patient for other few days, and meanwhile, if someone who already bought the game would like to help us in the betatesting stage, send us an email to lorenzo@reversestudio.it and we will consider to send you a special access to the beta build of Patch#3.

Meanwhile some pictures from the new island:

Waiting for... Patch #3

Hello there!

How is your surviving going? While you are living the Island, we are working so hard to improve the game and I’m happy to announce that we are really close to release the Patch #3.
This patch will revolutionize the whole videogame.
First of all, we’ve introduced the Save System and now you can save all your progress and resume your experience when you want.

We’ve implemented a new island, so much bigger and a bunch of new craftable and interactive items, animals, food, vegetation and much more.
Here some sneak peaks about it:

We’d love to release this on Easter time, but that’s a big work, so be patient and stay tuned because new island is arriving!

PATCH #2

ARM SWINGER EXPERIMENTAL BUILD

As we promised, here we are again, with a new update just released. We tried to gather all the feedbacks and suggestions that people sent to us during these 3 weeks and keep them in consideration for this Patch (and for the upcoming).

PATCH NOTES:

- Physics Objects Fixed: not more infinite rolling.
- Fixed bug on Controller when completing the raft.
- Unblocked Teleport also while having both hands occupied by objects.
- Improved Motion Blur effect when player’s health is below 30%.
- Improved Controls Hints at the beginning of the game

- New Locomotion System Arm Swinger: that is still an experimental build and we will be glad to hear all your comments and feedbacks about it to improve more and more. Anyway we introduced a Dzintro scenedz where is possible to select which kind of Locomotion System to use, so in case you will not find arm swinger comfortable, you can always switch on Teleport mode.

- New Pack from the sea System: from this update while surviving, it may happen that some crates will arrive from the sea (coming from the shipwreck). So be ready to catch them because they will contain nice surprises.

- New Interactable Items:

o Balls: we introduced one tennis ball and one football ball, have fun.

o Flashlight

o Flare Gun

o Flare Ammo
o Other kinds of foods

DEVELOPMENT ROADMAP

Like we announced before, we have in plan to implement the game very frequently to evolve the game step by step, developing together with the Community.

After our first days on Steam we want to say a big Thank You! We are so grateful to all the people who tried our VR experience in these first days and thanks again
for all your feedbacks, they are so useful to us to develop a better game.

Today we release a first update with some fixes and a new object:

- Depth of Field blurriness decreased
- Teleport block on Bonfire and Raft areas removed (be careful of the fire)
- More voice instructions inside the game
- New item: Radio

About this we would like to have from the community, advices and ideas: which kind of interactable objects, animals, mechanisms would you like to insert in the game?
Let us know....meanwhile enjoy the island.
