Hey, it's been a while. I returned to LQVE recently and decided it was in need of an update. Having some space from the game gave me a new perspective when I came back, I realised a few things weren't quite right and some mechanical tweaks would make a big improvement. From here I ended up overhauling the entire single-player 'Delta' component of the game, hence the name for today's update.
So here's what's changed:
Delta (single-player)
Revised level design for all Delta levels
Checkpoint system and difficulty level review
Introduction of owl and cat enemy types
New backgrounds and tweaked level colour schemes
New camera effect to give a subtle level of depth to the 2D worlds
Zoomed in camera modes now exclusively control the character zoomed in on
New Music for Delta Cube
Many more coins across each level
LQVE (multi-player)
The default respawn delay is now 0 seconds. This speeds up the pace of the game, making it more fun and frantic.
New, improved and more reliable collision system
Brand new power-up icons that are easer to differentiate between on the map
Difficult setting revisions to make all AI levels a little easier
Fixed an issue with unlocks not updating until the game was restarted
Plus the Mac version of LQVE is notarised for use with newer versions of MacOS.
LQVE 1.10 – Christmas Update
An update to LQVE arrives in time for Christmas.
This includes the following changes:
Increased responsiveness to player input
The inside of the bomb powerup is now colour coded to match the player – this means you can see who’s bomb is who’s on the map
Brand new title screen music
Unlocks auto-recalculate when making a purchase from the Gift Shop. This fixes an issue where purchased content would not show until the game was reloaded.
The options screen on the pause menu is now correctly aligned
Handwritten font in menus has been removed for increased legibility
Difficulty levels have been revised and Beginner mode is now slightly easier
Fixed a few miscellaneous bugs with the Enigma map
Small refinement to the intro-to-level transition
Main menu backgrounds have been tidied up
Zen Garden music has been swapped to a more relaxing number
Fixed an issue with a powerup spawning in a wall on Aquarium
AI characters now use the double-jump animation (when double-jumping)
Engine update (Goodbye Unity 5.6)
Additional resolution config. options above 1080p and retina resolution support on Mac
Code revisions – all in the name of performance
Thanks for reading this, and of course thanks for playing.
