Statement: Additional Account

Dear Steam Community!

We realized, that some of you don´t like the fact, that Ludwig requires an additional account and a login to play the game. We absolutely understand, that this might be annoying, since you already use your steam account to login and play games.

This announcement should explain, why we decided to use an account for Ludwig and why it is still in the steam version of the game.

First of all, Ludwig has been designed to be an educational game which is fun to play at home, but can also be played in school. Actually more than 10.000 students in Austria (where Ludwig comes from) played the game in school together with their physics teachers. The login allows us to provide free class licences to schools and a cloudbased savegame system for the students. So students can play the game at home and continue with their savegame in school and vice versa. This is a nice feature, which is also highly appreciated from all players, which use Ludwig in school.

Ok, so the login makes sense when playing Ludwig in school - but why the hack the login is still required in the steam version of the game? Well, that´s a legitimate question. The answer is kind of unsatisfying for us as well: We´re a small development studio in Austria and we did put really a lot of effort in creating a serious game, which doesn´t suck during gameplay (and so far the player´s reviews for the gameplay are good). We were so excited, when we got greenlight by steam and tried to manage to port the game to steam. Unfortunately, we didn´t have the budget to go as far, as we wanted to go with this port. We would like to remove the login completely and support steam cloudbased savegames instead. We know, that this solution would be much more convenient.

We just wanted to let you know, that we are aware of this problem and try to implement a better solution (no login + steam cloud savegames) as soon as possible.

In the meanwhile we apologize for the inconvinience of having to register for a free account. If you write a review on steam, please consider our will to fix this issue.

Thank you so much for supporting Ludwig and sorry again!
